We enjoyed our visit and we frequent wineries (and breweries) when we travel because we live in wine country (Sonoma/Napa wine area) and I also work in the craft beer industry. The wines are sweeter than we normally like but understand that due to the climate in Hawaii fruit wines are what will grow best there. For sweeter wines, most of the wines were very good and we ordered a case to ship home for gifts for Christmas. We did not have the food but the charcuterie looked like ritz crackers and processes cheeses. I would recommend that you seek out local artisan cheeses and local jams or bakeries and upscale your charcuterie to reflect the local artisan foods in the area for the price. The Pinot need to be aged a bit more = too tart/young if compared to areas like Sonoma/Napa who make really delicious Pinots. Mahalo and we enjoyed our visit very much!

Their wines are on the sweeter side. I thoroughly enjoyed them, but understandably, that's not everyone's speed. Their staff was friendly and very informative. The cheese plate was delicious!

This was my first time to this winery and i enjoyed it. The place was easy to find and in a perfect distance from volcano national park. The wine tasting was great for the price but felt like we were passed around quite a bit and were a little rushed during our tasting. The cheese platter was fantastic and a great addition. But one negative was there was no sitting inside, my 80 year old grandma was with us and it would of been nice to have barstools since it was raining quite bad outside. Overall nice experience. Thank you!

Beautiful and peaceful place. Signed up for the pikake mambership & got free tastings for 4. They also do a tea tasting, which I wasn't aware of before. There's a nice little spot to eat outside & you can take your tasting out there. There was a pair of pheasants outside.

The service from our waitress was awesome. The food was ok. I was hoping for a bit better. I had a streak, while cook well, just not as much flavor. And the mashed potatoes were terrible. Broccoli was yummy. Husband's dish was ok, sweet potatoes were good, but again, the streak not so great. We went here for our 30th anniversary cause we were staying up in Volcano and wanted to see the eruption of Kilauea while we ate. It would have been better if they had dimmed the lights a bit more. But what I do want to say is that the girl who took our reservation and I think the same one who greeted us was SO sweet. And again, our waitress, sorry forgot her name. Was so nice and sweet as well.

Love the idea of Valcano Winery a very enjoyable time with friends. Definitely had a different take on wines we have not tried before. We love trying new things. The only thing that would have made it better would be if they could serve food. They do offer pick one cheese and crackers but nothing else.

Small tasting room that felt crowded and noisy, standing at tables, servers moved very quickly through tasting (rushed?). Would have loved a tour or additional information about the wines and region. Nice stop after Volcano, but probably wouldn't return.

The winery is in a great location, 6 minutes from the National park entrance. Clean, inviting, cute gift shop. Our service was fantastic. Only food available are crackers, pretzels and a few varieties of cheese spread. Two of the drier, red wines were not available. Our flight consisted of 6 wines, 5 of which were very sweet. They also offer tea tastings. If you like sweet wines, definitely stop here.
