Our meal here was probably the best we’ve had in three weeks in California.
If you go here, have the skirt steak tacos! They will not disappoint. Service was super fast and friendly as well.
Visiting with my family and decided to give Volcano Rabbit a try. So glad we did. We loved the nachos, one of the best ever. The tacos were delicious and the variety was great. Everything was fresh and the service was outstanding. Cheers!
Our 7.30 reservation felt like we were a bit early to the party, like the restaurant would come alive later in the evening. Food and drinks were really good though
Our second time there. Love that they offer margarita flights!
Wow. The food far exceeded expectations. Everything was delicious. Mole was rich and perfectly spicy. Nachos were absolutely amazing. Cocktails were excellent. Service was outstanding. Don’t miss this place!
This place looked great on the yelp photos. Ordered to $20 taco, a few apps and drinks. They were all ok.
Other than the occasional homeless person trying to beg from you if you’re on the patio, it was a good spot to meet up with a friend visiting from out of town.
Taco Tuesday tacos were great as was the Cadillac margarita.
The food was pretty good. The service was fine until the check came. One of the waitresses had knocked over my drink that was about halfway full and they still tried to charge me for it. I asked them to take it off and they did reluctantly saying that she will have to go ask her manager if it's ok and it was just left us with a bad taste in our mouths.
We came here for a nice meal on our honeymoon and it was really nice. Good service and a cool atmosphere.
I tried to compare this place to King and Queen Cantina and they are not even close. The tacos were okay but not that special. The churros were the best thing on the menu but you don't go to a dinner for desert. The service and the building were awesome. I'm going to give it a second chance because there are a couple of items I want to try but right now it is just okay.
The ceviche was much too limey-inedible-sent it back. The shrimp taquitos, however, delicious!!!
Delicious! Portobello taco was fabulous and different. Recommend guacamole and beef nachos for apps. Nice twist on different margaritas.
Staff was warm and friendly, food was amazing, and margaritas even better!
The tacos are pretty good, but my group was disappointed about the service. I ordered a fajita and the waitress continually forgot my tortillas for over 30 mins. Everyone was done with their dinner by the time I could eat (and by then my food was cold).
Awesome service - half of our party was late and they still sat us, and waited us for another hour until they arrived. Very nice people!
Food was nothing to write home about - salsas and guac were good. Carne Asada Burrito was heavy on the rice. Interesting flavor - not in a bad way
Went for dinner on a Friday night. We sat outside, noticed it was noiser inside, but not bad. Food was amazing. Boyfriend had the octopus taco, great seasoning and we shared the meat plater. Duck was salty, but the carnisada was wonder as was the carnitas. Definitely an upscale Mexican restaurant. Drinks were on point. Recommend for a great experience overall!
Excellent Carne asada tacos, would highly recommend. They sat us next to the fire, which was perfect.
Great food and service. Went on a late Sunday afternoon. Downside, Patio seating where the homeless people continuously walk by next to your table. Oh, and the prostitution transaction occurring behind me in the open seating bar area. Great restaurant that needs a better location. Didn't feel safe, would not bring my children here and would leave before dark.
Food and drinks were awesome! Our server was great- knowledgeable and attentive! A little more of a rowdy atmosphere, not the best place for kids. Would be awesome for a date or fun night with friends!
Were seated at an outside table where we could enjoy the beautiful weather. Service was prompt, and very courteous as we inquired about the menu items. Appetizers came out quickly, and were delicious. Salsa flight favorite was the more traditional mild option. Entree’s arrived and had a spectacular presentation, which was matched by the quality of food. The Tinga Burrito was a VERY large portion (which could easily serve 2) and was packed with flavor. Another favorite was the Octopus taco. Meat was tender and the combination of flavors went from spicy to a hint of sweet from the Mango topping. Thoroughly enjoyed this outing.
Great food, service, and atmosphere!
Food Fantastic! Loved the Ahi and Octopus taco, and they have one of the best happy hours in town. Chris was outstanding! Very friendly and engaging, knew the menu very well and took my allergy very seriously. Thank you Chris for the great experience, we look forward to coming back to Volcano Rabbit soon!
Loved the food! Great happy hour and awesome Taco Tuesday special!
It’s not fair to be able to review a restaurant without first going thru the selection process on the first page of questions.
We can’t review because our 10:30 AM reservation for their “outstanding brunch” couldn’t be accepted because they weren’t open for it!!!! That’s right, after reviewing their menu on the website about their awesome brunch, we made reservations a few weeks in advance from Chicago. Visiting San Diego, this place seemed perfect for brunch. But as we arrived, we were informed they didn’t open until 11 (for bar and lunch service) , we would have to wait outside (doors were open at 10:25), but brunch had been discontinued weeks ago and we should’ve have been able to even book a table. Well, isn’t that special. So we left, went to Henry’s down the street and had a great breakfast.
Cannot beat bottomless mimosa/bloody Mary bar for $20!!! The food was delicious, each person enjoyed their meals. I got the chicken salad, which was awesome and my friend got an enormous burrito she really enjoyed. Everything was really reasonably priced and the service was great. We kept changing tables until we got settled and they were completely accommodating. Will definitely be back and would absolutely recommend this for a Saturday or Sunday lunch!
Absolutely wonderful! If contemplating dinner options, do yourself a favor and eat here! You won’t regret it!
Great tasting food! Excellent service from start to finish. Hostess was super sweet and our server was very attentive as well. Everything including the cocktails and beer selection was fantastic. Will definitely go back.
Had the octopus tacos I'd give them a 5/10 the gf had the ahi tacos 6/10. Not really a fan of the sweet sauces used. The civiche 9/10 was the highlight along with the spicy margarita 8/10. I'd go back and just get something different.
Visiting San Diego for the long weekend, my boyfriend and I dined at Volcano Rabbit and loved it! The drinks were delicious and the food was just as great! Great for groups to share or date night. Our server was awesome and the overall service was reflected by the support of all serving staff and managers.
Robert was an efficient knowledgeable pleasant server. Food was excellent—short rib mole—OMG.
Excellent food, loved the beef rib mole! Fast paced, friendly service. And, so many tequilas to try, it’s definitely a place to return to.
Seafood buffet is very good. Octopus tacos are the BOMB!
BEST carne asada taco in downtown San Diego! And the fajitas were also amazing.
Food was fabulous.
This place has the comfortable, laid back vibe that I love. Stuffed chairs and sofas on one side create an almost homey atmosphere. And I thoroughly enjoyed the unique flavor combinations offered at Volcano Rabbit. The four of us each ordered tacos for our dinners. I chose a Carne Asada, a Sticky Beef Short Rib, and a Fried Fish taco. All three were so delicious! The short rib just melted in my mouth. If you’re looking for Mexican with a delicious twist, this is the place!
First priority: They didn't have my reservation!! I made it on Open Table and confirmed it as well. Luckily they were not too busy at 6 and we were seated.
Two of us had tacos, different kinds. Both were dry.
Upside: The fajitas and burrito were wonderful and the drinks were good.
Great tacos, service, and ambiance.
Excellent. The food was creative and tasty. I had a steak burrito that was large and excellent. We got chips and a flight of salsas that were great. Upscale Mexican food that was affordable.
We waited for over 15 minutes before we asked for a server to come to our table. At that point, the hostess brought us waters before we waited for another 10 minutes for the server to arrive. When our drinks finally came, the order was wrong so we had to wait again for the correct drinks to come out. Food was very good, however, again, 2 of the orders were incorrect.
Real bummer because I've heard great things and was looking forward to my visit. I will not recommend this place to anyone.
Will be back here for sure! Love the interior, food, drinks and service!
