Ordered the tacos and crevice. The tacos are the items to order. The pork one was dry but the others were good. The best hot salsa we had ever had in a restaurant- way to go
We went as a large group (9). We were seated promptly, service was good, food was very tasty. The short rib tacos were amazing! Everyone had a good time.
Excellent tacos, fair beer selection.
Outdoor seating was generous with plenty of heaters for those chilly San Diego winter nights.
One of my favorite spots in San Diego!! Great food, great service and nice ambience.
Amazing drinks with tasty food, exactly what we needed on a date night
Expect a 3% fee added to the bill.
The food was great. We ordered the fish, carne asada, and carnitas tacos and the shrimp and jicama salad.
The drinks were a lot of fun. I ordered the Baja Bound which was served inside of a hollowed out pineapple. We also ordered the margarita flight which was really good.
Our server was super friendly and made great recommendations.
We dined here on a Monday around 4pm so it was not crowded at all.
We really enjoyed our experience and will definitely return.
Tasty food, great drinks, good service. Highly recommend
a great place to enjoy with friends
Great place for younger energetic crowd. A little loud for an old timer like me. Sat outside and enjoyed the downtown San Diego night.
Food was good. Bartenders made AWESOME margaritas. Hostess was great keeping us updated about getting the outside table that a couple of campers were sitting at long after they had paid and have their take-home leftovers boxed.
I would recommend giving it a try.
Satisfactory. I picked the restaurant because of the posted reviews. I was expecting more, a restaurant perhaps. It was a bar with some tables. It was a nice bar, but the combined effect left the food feeling more like bar-food.
The menu is what intrigued me and it didn't disappoint. The portions we're definitely adequate and the drinks were reasonably priced as well. I'd definitely go back. The staff was very attentive
I made table reservations and my table wasn’t ready! I was all the way behind by the restroom secluded! Restaurant wasn’t even full they had plenty of tables. Worst experience ever
We were there with a large group and were seated in a back room alongside another large group of women in a bachelorette party. They were actually screaming and continually getting up from their table posing for selfies and dancing. It was hard for our table to even talk. But the food and drinks and service were all good.
Small portions but we enjoyed everything. Great service and fun atmosphere
I will probably give it another shot on the weekend but went on a Sunday and the vibe was like everyone was hungover. Food was good but didn’t wow me.
Service really went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience. Would definitely go back! Great find!
The evening at the Volcano Rabbit started badly, as we were ignored at the bar. Oh my golly I’m glad we stuck around. the service improved as soon as we moved to a table. The food was AMAZING! Gotta have the octopus tacos; the short rib taco was wonderful and the shrimp appetizers were out of this world. Worth the wait? Heck yes!!
Really terrific food and service. Best Mexican food I've had in ages. Only slightly annoyed by the music video loop that was distracting on the monitor.
Got the the Signature Meat Block, which is a big cutting board with carne asada, carnitas, shrimp and duck. All of it was very good. Plenty fo food for two to share.
Great location, in the heart of Downtown SD. Service was excellent, great quality of food, and nice ambiance with good music playing.
We went to Volcano Rabbit for a date night. We were intregued by the name and menu, as well as it's excellent location in the heart of Gaslamp. Unfortunately, the food seemed overdone across the board. We ordered the Yucca appetizer that was pretty good and a creative twist on nachos. However, the dish was luke warm rather than hot. Both plates of tacos ordered were lack-luster. The carnitas taco was so tough that it was difficult to eat, let alone enjoy. The portabello taco seemed lacking in fresh ingredients. Overall, this restaurant may be great for happy hour and drinks, but we were disappointed in the food.
Had dinner with colleague after conference. Weather nice outside and seemed quieter to talk outside. Did outdoor seating. Had the yuca frites, chips and salsa, beef fajitas for my colleague, one calamari taco and one octopus taco with rice and beans. The yuca frites were outstanding, guacamole, seasoning, and flavorful beef. My tacos were also delicious, with fried calamari and spicy grilled octopus. Each were very well seasoned and delicious. Came with rice and beans. My colleague enjoyed the sizzling beef for the fajitas. Price for meal pre-tip was $60 for two people
We sat outside. It was very pleasant. The food was really tasty and everyone in our group was very happy with their dinners.
Disappointed with food & service. Realizing this was a busy weekend downtown with the concert, I would have thought they would have been better prepared,
The food was great but I’d like more choices for cocktails. I love Mezcal and I had a hard time getting a good Mezcal cocktail whipped up. I also had 3 ( it took a few tries to put something together) and I didn’t even get a buzz- I’m a lightweight, so I’m curious if they water it down.
Overall it was a nice evening.
Great food and drinks, would definitely recommend.
Their tacos are more like gourmet tacos but dang they're fantastic. One of the best Octopus tacos I've ever had with a spicy dressing and pineapple salsa. It sounds silly but their carne asada tacos are incredible with fried crispy cheesy on top....a bit of fusion and not authentic (for traditional taco eaters) but killer none the less. Taco Tuesday is the best value, tacos are cheaper and giant margaritas are 7 bucks. Oh yeah and their guacamole is A+ and recommended! Marshal is an outstanding bartender!
The server only checked on us one time during the hour and half we were there. We didn’t even get water. We had to to go to the bar to get water. We also had to go get our napkins and straws. We were asking anyone the walked by to help us because our waitress was so inattentive - it was not busy at all. $140 not well spent - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!
Terrible food. Threw on a plate. Rice beans were bad. The portion was very very small. Never to go back!!
John & Bailey are the coolest
Carne asada taco was much better than chicken. Surprised that you can mix and match tacos but you pay full amount of the higher taco.
This place is awesome! Great food, great drinks, great ambiance ! We love it here!
A little loud for our business meeting group, but other wise they loved the food and the vibe.
Great selection of tequilas and 1/2 price Tuesday is an opportunity to try some premium sipping anejos. Guacamole was excellent and tacos were ok. They lacked a freshness and came out room temp. Expected a bit more considering it’s a signature.
Super fun vibe
