Great food…server was okay but not terrible.
It’s not a good spot for a first date. It was loud and active, which may be fun for a night out with friends, but not favorable when you’re trying to listen/hear what someone is saying and actually get to know them. And when you’re already nervous for a first date, it can raise your anxiety level even more. We ate quickly and left to walk around and talk so we could actually get to know each other.
Great service, good drinks, tasty starters. Super view on the water.
Outdoor dining small. More wait than inside. I reserved a regular table they gave me a high top.
It's nothing fancy just ok food.
Excellent food and best service we have had so far in DC area. We have never been so excited to have our leftovers!
Meal and drinks were delicious. They did something unexpected with corn...it included bacon so it turned out well. Thanks to our server. Anastacia.
Made reservations for 12pm. Checked in at 12 and was told to wait 15 mins. It was super busy, but it was a beautiful Sunday and all of Old Town was bustling. Eggs benedict were good! My friend got the pork belly hash and enjoyed it. Fun, but very loud atmosphere. Besides the weird check in, staff was friendly and prompt.
Delicious food- the Crab Hush Puppies are things food dreams are made of- I need them again and soon!
Despite reservations we were kept waiting for a patio table. Watched group after group being seated before us. They eventually seated us in a temporary back room. After another long wait we got the menus. Only they were the wrong ones and had to wait longer. One accepts the mediocre food quality for the harbor view. Unfortunately we got neither….never again
The food was good, we got the crab dip but it came with crackers that we didn’t like so we ask for something different and they gave us garlic bread which paired good with the dip. Also, I had the lump crab meat grilled cheese, too much bread, not enough lump crab meat, it was still good though.
Simply wonderful! From the service to the atmosphere to the food and the drinks, I highly recommend Vola’s and will dine there again soon.
Celebrate my sisters birthday with my niece and great niece we enjoy the crab cakes and drinks
Very nice location overlooking the Potomac River.
Ate outside and it was lovely. Staff were very attentive without being obtrusive. We did have to ask that the music be turned down so we could hear each other talk.
Due to restrictions on reservations, we had to make two separate party reservations for 6 people each and hope that we could sit somewhat close to each other. Explaining this to the hosts, they jumped into action and made it where our entire party was together. Bryan, our server on 7/15/21 was unexpectedly seated with a 12 top and managed to make us feel like we were the only table he had and never missed a beat with servicing the other tables. His customer service, on top of the food, really made our special occasion special. I highly recommend asking for Bryan in the future!
Go for the outside seating on the dock!
Order calm chowder
And Po’boy shrimp sammie
And then get the heck out of this over- priced, terrible service chain restaurant.
I had lunch with a friend whom I had not seen for awhile, and the Vola's staff took wonderful care of us. We had a lovely outdoor table in the shade, and lingered to catch up and have great food. Absolutely perfect afternoon.
Great outdoor space overlooking the harbor
Went for happy hour (m-f 4p-7p.) and dinner. Mixed drinks were very good and oysters were outstanding. Oysters were clean, fresh, and meaty. Sat at a table in the bar area, table overlooked dock and Potomac River, very nice view. Appetizers and entrees were upscale bar food. We ordered the grouper sandwich, crab cakes, and ahi tuna salad. All the food was very good and we would not hesitate to order the same items again in the future. Bar and wait service was excellent. The only drawback was the noise level; we were a party of four and we found it very difficult to converse above the music and ambient noise. Note: there is outside seating on the dock with umbrellas but it was way to hot to sit out there, maybe next time. Important: make a reservation on OpenTable before going, the wait will be well over an hour without a reservation.
Our Server was excellent. We started outside then the rain came and he quickly got us settled inside. Great food and service.
Food was amazing. Jalapeno cilantro margarita was one of the best. Loved the ambiance.
We really enjoyed our food. My son is in the Marine. He will be leaving for Japan at the end of this month. This restaurant was recommended to us my daughter in law and get family has been there twice. I will be returning 😃
Too many dogs in the restaurant’s dock dining area. Two of three dogs got into a small dogfight disrupting patron’s meal while two were licking themselves. There are a few dirty and flipped dog bowls under the host’s table that appear as they have been forgotten and can be seen while the patrons are seated and eating. We were told the Restaurant was going paperless with receipts to help the environment BUT had paper menus in the water. Also, we were told after eating our happy hour appetizers that happy hour was only inside. The food was decent but overpriced considering the undesirable ambience on the deck. Much better food and ambience right next door at the Chart House and Blackwall Hitch.
server was engaged and attentive. will be back and recommend to others
The hosts and servers were friendly and professional. The kitchen did not get one order correct. The server was super fast to fix it and ensure my party had a good meal and experience. The location is wonderful and offers expanded indoor/air conditioned seating which was a relief during a heatwave. The outdoor dining space is ideally situated by the water.
Great service and food for a birthday lunch out with a friend.
The food was amazing! Not a huge selection but it was very good. We sat outdoors and it was a great view next to the water.
Food was delicious, service excellent. Restaurant was a bit warm but it was 100 degrees outside. Long lines for the rest room.
Really spectacular service last night on a busy holiday night. Very nice venue because it’s on the water
The only thing is the food is really nothing to go out of your way for a tad over cooked salmon, and a tad open space on all the dishes on the table but I think this is the place you go to for the ambience and the fact it’s on the water
The food was wonderful, the service was excellent, the view was spectacular
The food was amazing and we had a great window seat overlooking the water!
I brought the family out for good food and sights and we got that!!!
Ate here twice in one day. Had the same table and server, Victoria did an awesome job taking care of us!!!
Great location, drinks, appetizers, and atmosphere
Went here for my anniversary food was good and price reasonable the sever was horrible odalis was her name and because of her and the experience I won't return
The food and service were excellent. The atmosphere was noisy. Between airplanes overhead, loud music and children chattering all around, I found it disconcerting. I wanted so much to thoroughly enjoy a peaceful lunch by the water
We dined at Vola’s before and it was great!
This time, the calamari was over cooked/too crispy and the wine was not cold. We also have to wiped the table because it was dirty and sticky.
The food was delicious but it was too noisy inside in the bar area.
Crowded on a holiday weekend, staff at the indoor restaurant were outstanding. Limited menu. Note that outdoor seating on the marina appears to be run entirely separate with extended wait times; those who walk up are treated the same as those who made reservations. Skipped that scene entirely and still seated outdoors on King St.
We made a reservation and were seated very promptly in a great window space with a view of the water. The food was great, and despite the crab shortage, Vola's still offered several dishes with crab at a reasonable value. There was, however, a bit of a disconnect on the happy hour that is normally offered Monday through Friday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. The team who greeted us at the entrance said that HH specials would not be available that day (July 5) because it was a holiday, except for the oyster special. We were not expecting that the HH specials would not be available. When the server took our order, she said no HH specials would be offered that day. I asked about the oyster special normally offered during HH and shared that the team up front said that the special would be available. The server honored what the team at the entrance communicated, so we were happy with the outcome. I would just ask in the future that the info be prominently posted at the restaurant and on the website if the HH specials won't be available. If it was and we somehow missed it, if someone could just highlight where that information is normally posted, that would be great. Thank you!
