Volare Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
So this was the second chance - we had an earlier awful experience and were persuaded to give them one more try by several colleagues, and I'm glad we did. The food was great, and the service was OK so it was much better than last time.
It was however spectacularly loud - so loud that by the time the desert came round we all had headaches, and we were shouting to be heard. There is honestly no way that anyone with less than 100% hearing would be able to hold a conversation. If you don't actually want to talk with your guests, this might be a plus, but this was our main problem.
So - would we go back? Probably not. There are a bunch of good restaurants in town, and while Volare is good, it isn't outstanding, certainly not enough to take the noise.
The only reason I did not give the service 5 stars is because we requested a round table and I was told that they would accommodate this request. I confirmed with them 2 times including the day of our reservation to make sure we would be seated at a round table. We showed up and they had given our round table away.
Everything about our dinner evening was great! The service, ambiance, wine, desserts etc. were wonderful. The only item that was a bit of a disappointment was the short ribs entree. It was very bland and seemed more like an average pot roast. Everything else was awesome!
I would highly recommend Valero for anyone wanting a great Italian restaurant for a special evening.
I heard about volares on secrets of bluegrass chefs and watched the show live at the kentucky state fair 2015 when chef prepared two dishes. My wife was celebrating her 60th birthday and we wanted something special, we thought we would try volares unstead of our unsual place for celebrations, del friscos. We were very pleased and plan to return on our next special occasion.
Stuffy country club atmosphere. Made a reservation for 815 but didn't get seated til almost 9...while rich old people arriving after us were escorted to tables. The manager bought us a round for our troubles which was very nice..Then the guy that brought out the food was rude as hell, acted like we were jerks for troubling him. Food was awful so much salt in my carbonara thought I'd get iodine poisoning. Had a stomach ache for day and a half. If you're rich and want to see your other blue blood friends go there, otherwise stay clear
I have never complained about a restaurant. But I absolutely must say that we had the worst dining experience in 25-plus years of dining out in Louisville at Volare. First, the food was amazing, as always. Unfortunately, the terrible service ruined the entire meal. I never realized how a rude, condescending server could absolutely ruin a dining experience. When a drink I ordered was messed up, I was told: "Well, this drink is evidently on the house!", as the drink was curtly placed in front of me. (The drink was still on my bill, which I paid without complaint.) My brother was charged for a drink his wife did not order. When he very politely mentioned it, the server initially argued with him. When she realized she made a mistake she made a face at my sister-in-law behind her back! Which we all witnessed!! Unbelievably rude. My other sister-in-law's order was messed up and the wrong meal brought to her. No apology. It was literally one mistake after another. Why a rude person is allowed to serve people at this otherwise lovely and reputable restaurant is puzzling to me. I have never complained on Open Table about a restaurant's food or the service. This is honestly the first time a restaurant deserved such a review. I spoke with the manager before I left the restaurant. He was very kind and polite. I immediately told him I did not want anything from him or his restaurant, but he needed to know what a horrible experience we had. I hope Volare can address this server's issues. Again, the food at the restaurant is fantastic!
Thank you Chef Joshua Moore!! The food was more excellent than expected. You are the reason we come here. Can’t wait to come back. The flavors were complex in each bite. Who knew cabbage could be that delicious. The pasta dish was the best I’ve ever tasted. Hans and Jill Cesarz.
Our server Christopher was attentive without being intrusive, accommodating to special requests. The fresh pasta was excellent. You can really tell the difference when the restaurant makes its own. Superb house Manhattan. Love Volare. Wish there was music every evening, even during happy hours.
Chef Josh Moore always creates culinary masterpieces as specials of the evening, and we often choose those items for our entree. I had a delicious beef tenderloin with several toppings all served with fresh and interesting vegetables - beets being the best! As an appetizer, we both had the potato soup which was different and extremely tasty. We had the autumn salad which again was uniquely zesty. I enjoyed a glass of Merlot and then finished with a piece of pumpkin cheesecake which I had to take home and enjoy the following evening. Service was prompt, courteous and always subtle with filling water glasses and bringing clean flatware. The new china pattern was classic and helped present the food in a charming way.
Every detail was perfect - a delightful evening indeed.
We made reservation for my wife's birthday. you would think that they would have told the waitress that it was her birthday but no!
She didn't tell us anything about the specials of the night and the other waitress were.
I think are waitress must have been the bartender and didn't know what was going on. My steak was ok but no way worth the 38 dollars Texas road house has better tasting steaks for a third of the price only good part was the bourbon ball ice cream.
I can't say enough good things about this fabulous restaurant. Farm fresh ingredients. The chef came out of the kitchen to ask if we were enjoying our meal. Art on a plate. Taste of food was very complimentary to my palate. We had a group of five at a round table. Great music playing. Beautiful upscale dining spot. Desserts were "to-die" for!!! Artfully presented!
This was the 1st time we ate at this restaurant and it more than met our expectations. It was not our 1st choice, based only on the fact that we had never ate there, but it will be on the top of our list from now on.
We had to make a change in our reservation and the Manager was very accommodating. Service was excellent. Kudos to the staff and the Chef for a great meal and a wonderful experience.
To start with, we arrived earlier than our reservation time, and we were seated immediately. Our waitress "Natacha" was fantastic, knowledgeable, and friendly. She provided us with impeccably good service, and made the evening well worth the trip.
The food was also great, My wife had the Grouper, which was cooked perfectly, as was my veal parmigiana. Appetizers, and deserts were really good, and the overall experience made for a memorable evening!!
My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary here. We did not have a babysitter for our three month old baby, so I called to see if they were kid friendly, and they welcomed her with open arms. Everyone was very friendly, the service was impeccable, the food was delicious, and our server even surprised us with a free tiramisu as our anniversary gift. We were very impressed and will definitely recommend it to many.
The butternut bisque was very good. My sea bass was perfectly cooked and served over fresh spinach. My husbands grouper special was delicious as well served over a light pasta. Pumpkin cheesecake was not too heavy and just the right amount of pumpkin flavor.
