Volare Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
There were 4 of us dining, I'm gluten-free and vegetarian, the other 3 were none of those things. Volare actually has a special gluten-free and vegetarian menu if you ask for it. In any case, I had an amazing dish with veggies on GF pasta and an olive oil based "sauce". Two of the other diners had the fish and one had the soup of the day. Everyone loved their food!
The last few times we have been to restaurant servers not on their A-game. We sat at table 15 minutes before waitress took our drink order. No one stopped by to see if we needed anything. Once server appeared service got somewhat better. I know restaurant was busy but no excuse for that kind of wait.
One of the better Italian restaurants in the Louisville area, but its slightly pretentious atmosphere (and corresponding prices) betray what it really serves: fairly solid – if unimaginative — renderings of standard dishes. The chicken-or-veal marsala or limone, salads and pastas are fine, if a little overzealously seasoned. All-in-all a pleasant experience if not a particularly memorable one.
First time diners at Volare. Wait staff and manager were very attentive. Food was excellent and plentiful. Was very quiet, it being a Monday. Planning on going back again to try their other delicious looking dishes. Hope to make this our "go to" place from now on.
Everything about the Volare experience is always amazing. The service is consistently top notch. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful. And the food is outstanding. I forgo experiencing so many of Louisville’s restaurants because i keep coming back here when i get a night out. And i don’t regret it at all.
I have been to Volare and thought NewYears would be a perfect place to gather with 8 friends.first of all the tables were jammed in the back room so to make it uncomfortable to maneuver around . Our waitress was surly and abrupt with all of us ... we are a pretty easy group. You could tell she did not wish to be here. She snapped at one of our group when he asked for some water the thirs time . " get this man water immediately " the rolls were hard and tasteless the server said we use different rolls for holidays . Out food was tepid when served. So surprised with this as this has not been the case previously . Valet service and hostesses were outstanding . Seems our server in the back room was not up to your standards.
As always, Volare was excellent. One of my favorite spots. Almost all of our dishes were fantastic. My entree, the sea bass special, left me wanting for more flavor. Don't get me wrong, it was still very good; just not as excellent as I have come to expect at Volare. Everything else was perfect. The specialty cocktails are always excellent as well and the serve is bar none. Always happy with Volare!
Fantastic meal as always. Best restaurant in Louisville, hands down. The chef is so very talented. The staff is very attentive. We feel like family there, and we keep going back. Every friend we've introduced to Volare has loved it. Pasta is house made - cooked to perfection. Fish specials are wonderful. Best beef in town (yes, better than the steakhouses). Soups to die for. So flavorful! And the desserts? Unbelievable. Photo is a candy apple filled with berries and cake. Absolutely delicious as well as gorgeous. I can't say enough great things about Chef Joshua Moore, Jonathan Tarullo, the staff and our #1 server Tasha.
My adult children and I had a wonderful dinner between Christmas and New Years. We were seated promptly and the waiter was knowledgeable and entertaining. Everyone enjoyed their food except for the Carbonara. (It may have just been prepared in a different way than the person was used to) We did not feel rushed and the evening was great. We would definitely return for another family occasion
Celebrating a birthday on this occasion. We each had a pasta dish we liked very much after sharing our favorite wedge salad. My dinner was one of the specials for the night featuring meltingly shredded steak with gnocchi as the pasta. That's not a favorite of mine, so I replaced it with chef-made gemelli and it was perfect. My husband had the carbonara that is shaken in a jar at the table then transferred steaming hot into a pasta bowl. Both entrees were excellent. We had desserts we love: bourbon ball gelato and egg nog cheesecake. Service throughout, provided by Mike and Matt, was outstanding. A lovely evening amidst all the Christmas decorations.
Group of old high school buddies and spouses getting together to celebrate Christmas. We’ve been friends for almost 50 years and we love meeting here. The food and atmosphere can’t be beat and it reminds us of our favorite trip to Italy. The wait staff was excellent without being intrusive. A local gem!
We loved Volare! We were greeted enthusiastically, shown right to our table, and served the most delicious meal. Our server did a wonderful job with my wife's dietary restrictions. The restaurant was tastefully decorated for the Christmas season. It was also very nice to have live music.
Truly great night with friends. The place was packed and we had to wait at the bar for one to open up, and that’s where the place really shined. The manager was very apologetic about having to wait; he provided a complementary bottle of wine when we got our table. The service was just outstanding as well. Brooke did great to make up for our having to wait for our table. The food was delicious as usual too. The Chilean Sea Bass was phenomenal! The manager and entire staff was just so attentive and helpful; it was really remarkable how they took care of us. Can’t recommend Volare enough!
Overall, for my first time at Volare, I was more than pleased. There wsre however, some minor flaws that I am more than able to overlook. One of the first things I noticed when ordering was that my particular waiter did not know how to pronounce one of the items I had ordered (the name was in Italian). For a higher end Italian restaurant, it might be more beneficial for the employees to know how to pronounce the words. I had to point out on the menu what I asked for. Again, this is a minor error but attention to detail is required. Secondly, coming from a fine dining catering company, I pay attention to detail of the way the servers wait on tables. Reaching over guests to refill water glasses is often frowned upon, I saw this happening. My only other concern was the lumache pasta. It was slightly undercooked. This was over looked though as the many flavors of the dish blended perfectly.
