By far some of the best food in Tampa. Have loved the Executive Chef / owner's culinary flair since he had Le Maisòn Basque over 20 years ago. He's no longer in the kitchen on a daily basis, but his Head Chef, Sous Chef and Chefs de Partie do a wonderful job of maintaining the quality and consistency so important in a great restaurant. Sad to say that service was lacking to say the least. Waitress was certainly pleasant, but not very attentive. Very long night, and it wasn't as if we were impatient or in a rush. We sat upstairs toward the back so we wouldn't be real close to the fabulous band that was playing... so ambience was very nice. Waitress didn't bother to write down our tapas orders and there was a mix up as a result. How Veal Sweetbreads were confused with our order of Muscles is beyond me. She did leave the Sweetbreads for us on the house, which was nice and I've got to say they were really delicious. She forgot all about the salad I ordered, until I told her to just skip it. The rest of the evening we waited and waited and waited. Shouldn't have to ask for: refills on water; complimentary bread; where our main course was after a half hour just sitting there; the check please. Needless to say... she didn't ask if we wanted desert nor did we want to stay any longer. We'll be back to give this new location another shot. Perhaps better service downstairs. Would have rated 5 stars if service matched the quality of the food.
Great food and great service! Everything was so delicious! We will definitely be back again!
We really enjoyed the restaurant, great happy hour menu, good tapas selection and the food was delicious! Our server was excellent, she was very attentive and she was always available, our food was served quickly, well presented & prepared.
My only issue, and this is the same regardless of what restaurant is in this building, it is choppy floor plan and the upstairs area isn’t well laid out all. Not to mention, very poor acoustics upstairs. But there was an amazing duo playing this night and they definitely made up a very loud large party seated behind our table.
Food was delicious
We arrived early for our reservation, were seated immediately, and enjoyed the attention of a young server for the rest of our mealtime. My cocktail (besame mucho) was promptly served and delicious. The calamari was done perfectly. The bread came with an interesting admixture of oil and sauces. The food was delicious, though my sole was totally buried in sauce. The noise level was so low that quiet conversation was enjoyed. The decor was understated with muted colors and linear abstracts by Picasso for wall art. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and will return.
Very good food and service. Will be sure to return abother Sunday evening
El risotto con langosta excelente el cordero genial la atencion muy buena tirne musica en vivo y una terraza para fumar donde puedes tomar una copa y escuchar la musica .. Lo recomiendo
A terrible restaurant. I never answer this questions but my experience was terrible in this restaurant.
Went to restaurant with another couple for Valentine’s Day. It was out of the way for us, but the menu looked good. When we got there they told us there was a special menu for that day and nothing could be ordered from regular menu. Paella was ordered, shrimp were mealy, no fish (as was stated on menu),:rice was watered down and tasteless. Lamb chops were severely over cooked and sent back as was the paella.
Service was bad. Had to try to flag a waiter as he went by to get his attention. No one came to table to see if we needed more drinks, etc. server was rude when he did get to table. Table next to us turned over three times while we were there. Never go back to this restaurant and definitely will not recommend.
I know it’s at a new location so there obviously was a lot of training going on with people walking around aimlessly. We had a 5pm reservation and when I looked at the website they said they had an early bird menu. I don’t usually do early bird but it was the only time my group could meet. After sitting for a few minutes even though no other customers were there we asked to be seated. We were seated in the main dining room where we sat for at least 10 minutes until we finally waved someone over to our table. There was still lots of employees walking around. We asked to see the early bird menu but was told that we could only get it if we moved to the adjacent bar a few feet away or to go upstairs to the bar and tables up there. This just hit me the wrong way. We were in an empty restaurant , were already seated with my 87 yr old mother and was told we could not order from the early bird special because we were not in the exact right room? This to me was preposterous! Either have it or not. Not really smart business. The food was very good. The waiter we knew from N Tampa and he was very good and cordial. Before we left I went to the restroom and when I came back my water glass had a spider swimming in it. I called the waiter and showed it to him just to let him know. He left we left but it was just overall annoying that there was no apology about a spider swimming around in my water glass. The ceiling is wood and he must have dropped down so beware.
We went to celebrate our anniversary and had a great meal!!
One of my favorite Tampa restaurants! Food and wine always excellent. The Merluza was superb. In my opinion only true Tapas Bar and Spanish restaurant in Tampa worth going to. Living in Valrico makes the new location perfect!
The food at Viscaya is amazing!! I am not a big fish lover but the three times I have been there and taken several bites from my hubbies order of fish it’s amazing. It’s fresh , flavorful, light .. perfect . If only I could make a fish dish like their chef my family would be so happy and healthy!
Food was very good the service was fantastic and a great variety on the menu. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good restaurant.
Thank you Felix for bringing Vizcaya to the South Tampa Restaurant Scene. We had dinner there last week and the food and service were excellent. We can now enjoy the Vizcaya food experience without the long drive up Dale Mabry.
I was a fan when they were in Carrollwood. The menu is similar but the facilities are much more upscale in the new place. Food and service are still great. Prices are similar (they've never been inexpensive). The street is quite busy so getting in and out can be challenging. Still my favorite in Tampa for tapas.
Arrive 3 m before my reservation time , waited 25 m to get sat , keep in mind that when you make the reservation says they hold only for 5 m the table
We sat 5 on a table that was already small for 4 people
Right next to the kitchen
Upstairs very very loud
Food usually as good , service usual not great , atmosphere... too loud too small not good at all
Extremely uncomfortable and stressed me out
Many of us are thrilled to see Vizcaya come to South Tampa. I often dined at the original location, and really enjoy the variety of tapas choices. The seafood entrees are fantastic, too ! My last visit was good-- delicious food and good service. I was quite surprised, however, with the VERY slow pace of the kitchen- I appreciate it when I am not rushed with my meal, but this was the opposite. I have not encountered this on any other prior visit. I trust the pacing of service will improve as the staff becomes accustomed to their new place.
I visited Vizcaya at the Carrollwood location many times in the past and just dined at the new location on West Shore Blvd with a friend who had never been there. We were more than satisfied with the food, ambiance and service! I was hoping that a change of location would not change the quality of the food but it was not the case as they still have the same great chef! One of the best Spanish restaurants in Tampa Bay and can't wait to go back again!
Food was excellent , service great . Good wine choices . I have passed it on to my friends
The food was amazing, especially the ceviche de cobra. Because we sat in the bar Luigi was out bartender and server. He mixed up some great blood orange margaritas! Looking forward to going back with more friends.
We have been going to Vizcaya for years. Food is excellent as well as the service. The new location is very nice. Has a band that plays and the atmosphere is lively.
The paella was burned so had to be sent back. The service was slow. However most in our party enjoyed their meals so will give it another try.
What a great meal! The piano was wonderful!
Celebrated my husbands birthday. Food was wonderful and quite authentic to Spanish (Spain) cuisine.
This was my 2nd time there. Will definitely go back.
First timer, Maria was our server and made our experience worthy of returning..... She first helped with the wine choices and they were excellent , her service was very efficient , than recommend 4 tapas that was amazing and had us save room for a great dessert!!! We will be back so many other things to try
Dads birthday. Food is ok at its price point. Have had way better. Was a great night of family time for my Dads birthday.
Excellent food, outstanding service, great time! We had dinner in the upstairs bar with live music on a Friday evening. Yes, with the music the noise level was a bit high, but the music was so good that it wasn't a bother. I can't say enough good things about the service. We have been to several restaurants in South Tampa and the service at Vizcaya is the absolute, hands down, best.
Wonderful, great not to have to drive north
Really enjoyed our meal. Quiet, able to talk, knowledgeable waiter, great variety of dishes. Very pleased and plan to return.
Good service and food was great
Nothing like finding a new restaurant. Terrific.
Everything about this place is great! Front and center is the food. Fresh, delicious, and authentic. I'll be a regular customer for sure!
Attentive service and excellent food . Extraordinary chef!
Overall the food was excellent. We visited the previous location a few times and felt some things have changed at the new location. The paella was delicious but I felt the portion got smaller, especially for the price it is at. Some tapas were also saltier than normal. The sangria was awesome though. Also, wish there was more kid friendly options!
The food was delicious, the server was very attentive and it was a great atmosphere where you can talk
Already my favorite restaurant in Tampa!
Planning to take all my friends to enjoy.
Great dinner ! Loved it! Took friends from out of town and they loved it!
