About vivo ristorante - Westend
vivo is where Italian comes alive. We relish the enthusiasm and joy with which the traditional Italian meal is prepared and delivered, and seek to recreate that experience for every guest. Our open kitchen showcases our chefs preparing fresh and local ingredients.
When you join us for dinner, expect it to be a relaxing evening lasting a couple hours over several piatti (courses). Your table comes alive when we present a variety of large offerings on platters or bowls within easy reach of all.
A classic Italian pranzo (dinner) usually beings with a variety of antipasti (hot and cold appetizers), followed by one or two primi (usually a hot pasta, risotto, gnocchi or zuppa). Next your table will share a secondi (entrees) served on a platter combined with your choice of contorni (vegetable side dishes). Italians often complete their meal with un dolce, un caffe, or un digestivo (dessert, espresso, liqueur or grappa).

vivo ristorante - Westend Ratings and Reviews
It was difficult to order what you wanted as a couple. Everything is served for a min of 2-3 people. So if you and your date don’t want to order the same thing you will have tons of left overs and pay way too much. We ordered Cesar salad and plain fettuccine (no meat) .. good was food but not great value. It was very expensive for what we got. If there was some chicken chunks added to the pasta it would have been more reasonable.
It was our first thing there and the waiter was great. He explained how the dishes are meant to be shared, like family style. The food was amazing - best pasta we have had. I like how everything is made in house (salad dressings, pasta etc.) HIGHLY recommended!!
Overall we really enjoyed our evening. The meat/cheese platter was amazing!!!
Our server was very knowledgable and helpful.
We ordered the fettuccine based on a recommendation from someone who had come before-I was a little disappointed-it was very plain, did not have enough taste.
The chicken however was very well done.
We were excited to go here because it was so highly rated but we were disappointed as soon as we watched in the door. The hostess greeted us with a disinterested "Can I help you?" When we said we had a reservation at 6pm, she looked us up and then replied "You know your table is reserved for another couple at 8". I replied "No, but ok...". What were we supposed to say to that information? How about a "Good evening" and a smile??We looked around and the place was dead. An odd thing to say to a dressed up couple when the place was virtually empty. We showed up ten minutes late to our 6pm reservation because of the bad road conditions and traffic from the snowfall all day. We even called ahead at 5:30 to let them know we were stuck in traffic. We were seated and greeted by our server, David, who was extremely pleasant and explained the menu very well and offered recommendations. We opened the flimsy paper menu and were quite surprised to see the extremely high prices. We had been to Michelin Star restaurants for these prices. With prices this high, I don't expect to sit at a table that is chipped and lacking any decor such as candle or linens. My fork was also dirty with crusted food, I just scraped it off as I didn't want to complain or ruin the night. Also, being that the place was dead, we were seated right next to another party, about a foot away. Again, no big deal if the place is packed, but like I said, it was dead. Don't get me wrong, the food is above average, but definitely not worth the price or the hype. If it wasn't for David, I would have been extremely disappointed. He salvaged what the night was. All in all, we won't be back, oh, and we were out of there by 7:15 so plenty of time for your 8pm Miss Hostess.
I really enjoyed dinner. The waitress was exceptional. She explained everything, attempted to speak French to the group whom were from Montreal. Very well humored, fun the waitress. Accommodated is and went above and beyond at a late hour as we came in at 9:30 pm and they close at 10 pm. The Caesar salad and gnocchi is to die for and the wine selection wonderful. So happy we went again for a 3rd time. Quality seems to be there every time.
We have been looking at this restaurant for a while now reading the reviews. Finally decided to try it tonight. It didn’t disappoint. Service was fabulous and the food exceptional. We definitely would go again. Actually we might have just found our new favourite restaurant.
We had a fantastic time! The portions were plentiful and easily shared between the four of us. We enjoyed everything we ordered - the Caesar salad is a must! However, the dessert, (Nutella brownie) was slightly disappointing as an end to our meal we’ve been told to try the homemade cookies next time! We will! Definitely will be back.
The pasta with seafood was excellent; however, the sea bass was overcooked and had a charred flavour, as well as the prosciutto wrapped asparagus. The asparagus was completely charred, with the burnt side turned down. When we told the server, he apologized and said he would tell management. He then gave us a dessert board we didn’t want. This used to be our go-to restaurant for our anniversary or to go with friends. We would always order the sea bass on prior occasions, which should melt in your mouth.
Excellent dining experience, great food, great wine, awesome waiter! I booked reservations online for a date night for my wife and myself. We enjoyed it very much but would recommend going with a group of 4-6 people. The menu and restaurant is set up for a more social outing. We will be back for sure and be bringing more people
Overall the food was amazing but the server was lacking personality and hospitality. Service did not match the amazing food on the plate. Server was unclear about portion sizes and made it difficult to envision what was coming out and there wasn't enough food for 4. Better clarifications are needed. Instead of listening to customers wants, she made her own choice of direction.
