vivo ristorante - Westend
When you join us for dinner, expect it to be a relaxing evening lasting a couple hours over several piatti (courses). Your table comes alive when we present a variety of large offerings on platters or bowls within easy reach of all.
A classic Italian pranzo (dinner) usually beings with a variety of antipasti (hot and cold appetizers), followed by one or two primi (usually a hot pasta, risotto, gnocchi or zuppa). Next your table will share a secondi (entrees) served on a platter combined with your choice of contorni (vegetable side dishes). Italians often complete their meal with un dolce, un caffe, or un digestivo (dessert, espresso, liqueur or grappa).
I was disappointed with the wait time to be seated. We had a reservation for 7:45 pm, but were seated at 8:30 pm. With a reservation system, this is unacceptable. I’ve been here several times, and this was a first. This may need to be modified to prevent this from happening again.
The food and our server were great, however.
As always, Vivo delivered. The food was fantastic (lamb was a huge favorite), the service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing.
Another memorable dining experience. An unexpected surprise was the half priced wine!
The family style is fun and the serve and food were great!
So we went to VIVO for our Valentines as I have to go out of town next week. So never got asked about our evening. Never were asked about checking or hanging out jackets. Food was ok had to send a dish back and we never do this but it was just bitter tasting. Server knows his stuff we had him before and he was amazing prior. Tonight not so much. We were never asked how our first bites were. We were never asked if we would like fresh ground pepper or fresh Parmesan. This is supposed to be a high end Italian restaurant and no ask for pepper or Parmesan??? They did take the dish we didn’t like off the bill so good management on that part but would have been nice to have been asked before we had completing everything else at our table. The final straw was the bathrooms. Call me a snob but ice cubes in the urinals is something I used to do at the sports bar I managed not something you see in a high priced restaurant trying to be high end. Overall a 3 at a restaurant that used to be always a 5.
First rate, as always.
We had a superb meal and evening!
Loved our server Allan and the food was exceptional! We will be back! TS
We enjoyed our evening, we will be back.
The restaurant was fantastic. we were out to celebrate my first dinner out following a successful heart transplant. as it turned out people over heard us discussing the transplant and we were able to meet and bond with several other patrons and staff who had similar experiences. overall a very special evening.
Highly recommended. Very enjoyable and would come here again next trip to Edmonton
Server was great and some dessert was comp’d for us due to the long wait for bread, main course and sides. The portions were not large enough for the price and the 5 people. We have been many times before but this was our first leaving disappointed
I always love going to this Vivo location and sitting at the chefs counter. Always amazing food and amazing service.
Service was very slow; however, appeared to be short staffed. Our seating area was very cold - we all had to wear our coats
Food was great! Very flavourful. One of our orders was incorrect and the staff fixed it and brought complimentary dessert.
The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive!
The food is fresh, tasty and amazing!!
Our waiter was one of the best we have ever had. The food was amazing, great atmosphère and responsably priced. We will be back many times for sure!
Great for gathering with friends. Nice to have a group with the family style menu.
Server didn’t know much about the wine menu but that wasn’t a big deal.
Dinner with friends. Everything was excellent. Food was so good. Service great and ambience perfect. Live this place.
It was great just for the part there was no happy birthday dessert . Or offered coffee . Other than that the waiter knew his stuff and was great .
IF you want high quality food, this is the place. Pricy but worth it. Noise level very high so if you want intimate this is not your place.
While there was some noise in the restaurant it was like a large family getting together. Food was amazing, service excellent. All in all a great evening.
Excellent food, fabulous service lots of fun!!!
Excellent service, very knowledgeable wait staff, nice atmosphere, and tasty food. Despite one of our steaks being overcooked (medium well as opposed to medium rare; the meal was comped), our dishes were very good, and we will definitely return to Vivo.
Son’s 25th Birthday celebration.
Excellent. Love it there. Our waiter was very good.
We went on a date night for Christmas with another couple before going to the Boney M. concert at the River Cree. We have been there for date night many times but this was the first time for our friends and they loved it :)
Wonderful from the very start to the very end.
Favourite restaurant and so lucky to have it close by. Came for late light dinner after Ballet. Enjoyed excellent pasta. Noise was slightly higher than normal only due to large celebrating party close by.
Overall food was good. Linguine was recommended but I wasn't that impressed. Grilled ceaser salad was great. Sea bass was delicious.
Venue is loud. Our server was AMAZING!
Great atmosphere, great service, and as usual the food and wine are outstanding!
I love Vivo! Food is amazing and staff are always friendly and know their food.
Waitress was fantastic. The food was very good, and an extremely clean restaurant. An excellent experience!
Another amazing meal! Thanks to Pat our server for making us feel like family when we are there!
Always AMAZING food and service! We have never been even slightly disappointed!
We love your restaurant but we had two small complaints from last night:
1-we ordered fettuccini but the server didn’t place the order so we never received it and he seemed to downplay the situation when we brought it up.
2-there was no Tiramisu. That’s never a good thing.
Thx for listening. We had a really nice night.
Danny is amazing as well as all the other staff. We had a fabulous time and the food was amazing as well as the wine. Love the place.
Excellent service, very accommodating.
Love Vivo. Always consistently great food and service.
Had a 60th Birthday dinner which everyone enjoyed. We had two appetizers to share amongst four of us. The Bruschetta and the Scallops - both were great.
Four of us shared Caesar Salad, two pastas, and the Sea Bass for dinner. The Sea Bass was melt in your mouth wonderful.
The dinner wasn’t rushed and we had a very Social time. Thanks Vivo we will be back.
Lovely meal for our special occasion. Food consistently delisheous and a well served. Our host Allan was outstanding and helped make the evening all the more enjoyable. Thank you.
Well I always love this place and the food. It is one of my faves.
A couple things surprised me however. It took about 10 minutes or so before we were approached by a waiter at the counter seating. Allan ended up helping us because our original server hadn’t come by yet. She was super nice but service was a bit slow compared to all the other times I have gone there. The other thing that surprised me was that bagged romaine was being used for the Caesar salad. I watched the cooks bring the bag of romaine heads out and some of it even looked rusty in Color but they still used it for the salads. Lettuce does turn Color over time but again for the price one pays for the salads, this kind of shocked me that there wasn’t more quality control done. This is one of the more expensive restaurants I go to and bagged lettuce just throws me off a bit
