When you join us for dinner, expect it to be a relaxing evening lasting a couple hours over several piatti (courses). Your table comes alive when we present a variety of large offerings on platters or bowls within easy reach of all.
A classic Italian pranzo (dinner) usually beings with a variety of antipasti (appetizers), followed by one or two primi (usually a hot pasta, risotto). Next your table will share a secondi (entrees) served on a platter combined with your choice of contorni (vegetable side dishes). Italians often complete their meal with un dolce, un caffe, or un digestivo.
Private Dining Rooms are available to book for daytime and evening use.
For all large parties, we use a pre-set menu Large Party Menu so we are able to have enough product prepared, as well as provide seamless service for all Guests.
As well, the pizzeria, taverna and ristorante are all available to be booked for private functions. Please call to inquire about minimum spend requirements.
Fabulous service and food. As someone with Celiac Disease, I especially appreciated the homemade Gluten Free bread-hot out of the oven!
what a wonderful surprise...great Italian, healthy, tasty, local
close to Rogers Place so perfect for before or after a concert or game
Great experience, food was unique, well prepared and very delicious. Staff service was exceptional. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We will return.👍👍
Service and and food was great.loved the little touches in the cuisine that made a big difference.will be returning
The food was fabulous, and the staff was knowledgeable. Best place to have dinner in Edmonton to date.
Ed was our server he was amazing. Explained the menu inside and out. The food is the best Italian I've had in the city. Those meatballs!
Soooo much delicious food!!! We will most certainly be back. New location but so far they are nailing it!!
Italian foodies with endless appetites!
Our first experience at Vivo was excellent! Family style service with a group of 6 worked very well. Everyone was impressed. We will be back!
Great food, Great service as usual! The pasta, beef and tiramisu are a must!
Vivo never fails to wow me. By far my favorite restaurant in Edmonton. Chef Medi and the entire staff is top notch!
Love this place!
Great service and food, an enjoyable evening out with friends.
Everything was perfect, all night. We sat at the chefs counter, they have a group table that fit 6 adults very comfortably, and it was great. The chefs answered any questions we had, would converse with us through the night, it was great. Or server was amazing, giving us all the time we needed to truly enjoy all the advancing food we ordered, and filled us in on the details of each dish. All night, the staff went out of their way to make our parents 25th anniversary special, and they succeeded, and then some.
The food in the restaurant area upstairs is the same as the west end location and is very good! Have yet to try the pizzeria and other downstairs area, but the upstairs is well worth it!
Really enjoyed our first time there. The waitress was engaging but not intrusive and the food was outstanding. Like the local producers and attention to detail. We will be back.
I had been to the West End location and was expecting a similar environment. The downtown location is very different. The food did not taste the same, the cookies at the end of the meal were not even close to the West End location.
I would not go back to the restaurant part. I have not tried the tapas bar that may be better.
Great Food and wonderful Service. Wasn't that busy in the beginning as it was an early reservation. Was cognizant of a time commitment we had right after dinner.
Food was great and lots of it. Service was amazing. Fun to hear the stories behind the food - especially the olive oil. 🙂
Food was good, service was a little slow. We was the only ones in the restaurant.
Went to Vivo to celebrate my friend's 50th birthday and as we both love Italian food picked Vivo downtown to try. Service: the greeting at the front of house was good, our server was knowledgeable about the food and wine and gave solid recommendations. Service was slow a times, as we didn't get our drinks quickly upon arrival, but overall not a big issue as we weren't in a rush. The Ceasar salad sourced local romaine and was tasty. We ordered two pasta dishes: gnocchi and pappardelle. The gnocchi was large and round: think a toonie that is 1/2 inch thick, that was a bit off-putting. Not tender . The sauce with it was delicious. The pappardelle was actually lasagna noodles that you get in the box, again very off-putting but the sauce was delicious. The manager came by and we did give him out feedback. Our side of the restaurant was quite cold but apparently the other side was not... Overall tasty food but the pasta needs improvement.
The Staff were warm and welcoming. The space was attractive and could accommodate a very sizable group or number of groups. I loved the availability of parking.
The cauliflower appetizer was rich in flavor and a good portion. The salad and pizza we ordered to share could not have been any more delicious -- and the portion size meant we took home pizza for leftovers later. The server was knowledgeable and friendly and attentive without hovering.
Wine prices were high - $21 for the 9 0z Ripasso? Next time I will stick with water.
Why 5 giant screen TVs in the Taverna? Is this a sports bar? If I wanted sports bar, I would go to First Round.
The food and service were great and I would come back for that reason.
Such a fabulous experience! We sat at the Chef's counter and could not have had better service from our server. She was fun, bubbly and nailed it for her wine suggestion (i had just come from an Italian wine tasting and asked if they had anything similar to something i'd had at the tasting).
The food is flavourful and unique, from taste to presentation. I've yet to try the pizzeria downstairs but my 3 dining room experiences have been flawless!
We loved the pizzas we tried and all the staff was so friendly and accommodating! A variety of seating is available from pizzeria casual to tavern(where we sat) to more formal dining upstairs.
I took my Mom here for her birthday and she loved it. It was also my first visit to Vivo and the waitress did a good job of explaining how their food is family style with very large portions. We shared a small Caesar salad to start and then two small pasta portions. The salad was huge but I didn't think the pasta portions were as big as promised. The linguine was my favourite!
Parking is a challenge in the area now. One never knows if they park on the street when the meters are in operation. Restaurant seems very loud for a hard of hearing person. Meal was excellent - service was excellent - wine choice was very good too. Cost was good for a group of 6.
Food was amazing. Best Caesar salad ever. All sooooo good
Wow....what a fantastic experience! Wonderful surroundings, super food and wine, but what made it extra special were the great staff who looked after us so very well! We'll most certainly be back!
A great place for a double date. Everything is family style and tastes amazing!
Night and day from the West End location.
The app reservation wouldn't let me book a table, only bar seats. When I showed up the restaurant was empty and plenty available tables for lunch.
The waitress could not tell me if they had free car parking or any parking or where to park.
We ordered three pizzas, mine was on the cold side. We were the only table at the time.
This was my first time at DT location. Maybe another visit to make sure it wasn't an "off" day for staff.
The food was better than I imagined. I generally don't seek out Italian restaurants but this place made it an exceptional experience from the quality of the food to probably the best service I have ever received from a server. The price although initially appeared pretty expensive, due to the family style dinner, it worked out to be about the same after you split the bill per person. Wonderful experience and the in house made noodles is just devine! Jayce was awesome and explained everything well. The restaurant wasn't cold either on an air conditioned summer day. Perfect to keep in your tank top. I will be back for sure!
Probably one of my most favourite restaurants in the city. The food and service is amazing.
Great family style dinner. The server was very helpful with our order to get enough ( but not too much). chef Medi's dishes are delicious.
Pricey, but excellent. We quite enjoyed the evening
Amazing food. Love the family style platters. Unique flavors and menu selection. Great wine. Best tiramisu I've had in my life! Service was excellent with fun interaction. Will definitely go back again!!
We celebrated my birthday at the new location downtown. Fabulous experience! Ed our waiter was phenomenal. Definitely worth every penny!!!!
Ryan and his staff did a great job. Good food, fair prices (u get what u pay for) and great service. Will be back
We dined in the upstairs dining room great knowledgeable fun waitress. Sharing plates are generous servings.
Good Italian food family style. Good wine selection. Very good service. Well paced dinner not rushed.
Upgraded us to private room. Excellent
We were thrilled to see a second location close to Rogers Place after years of going to hockey games with no fine dining options close by. The food was just as good as Vivo in the west end and we had amazing service. Highly recommend if you want an excellent meal before cheering on the Oilers!
