Very warm and inviting atmosphere. Interesting, creative food selections and the same can be said for the wine offerings. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with our selections. Will be back soon!
Everything was so close to perfect. Unfortunately, the food just wasn’t executed as well as expected. It looked wonderful but was lacking in taste.
I have dined at Vivian's four times in the last six months, and my most recent visit was identical to the first three--superlative food, service, and ambiance. Because different groups joined me on those occasions, we have been able to experience most of the small plates as well as full entrees. The menu is imaginative, eclectic, and appealing to those who prefer pasta dishes, seafood, or beef. Similarly, the bar and wine list are appealing. Given the quality of this restaurant, the prices are quite reasonable. I travel to Asheville frequently, and Vivian is now my favorite restaurant.
My husband keeps saying that dinner here was "the best meal of my life" -- of course, he had the 18oz t-bone steak (cooked to perfection) topped with 4oz foie gras! Our friend had the Branzino and I ordered the Quenelle, both of which were outstanding. Desserts of snickerdoodle ice cream sandwich and chocolate pound cake were fabulous. Service was excellent, a fun atmosphere. Mixed drinks were top-notch.
Waited too long to try this really fine restaurant, innovative menu excellently prepared with very good service
They have limited true vegetarian options. Additionally, our pound cake was quite dry. The fish and appetizers were quite good.
Love this place!
We really had a lovely time. Our table was ready immediately. The food was very good (and interesting) and coursed appropriately. We had time to enjoy each dish, but never sat waiting for what was coming next. The owner was very gracious and stopped by our table to chat. She also brought us an extra appetizer to try! We will be back.
Was really excited to try Vivian’s for the first time, but somewhat disappointed. Food was just so-so. Not sure if it was just an off night, not not impressed. Dishes were either overcooked, or lacking flavor.
Brunch was amazing!! Service was wonderful, we will be back for dinner!
One of our most favorite places. There is a reason it was selected as Best New Restaurant by Asheville Food Critics
The meal was over-the-top awesome! We would highly recommend the Quenelle and the filet mignon. The meat had a small amount of seared fouis grax and the Demi-glace was delicious!
Fantastic evening at Vivian - unique menu but still enough range to appeal to anybody. Service, wine list and the care of the owners to ensure a great experience for all shone through. Go there when you can - you will be pleased you did.
Food was delicious, service impeccable! I cannot wait to return!
Wonderful food, creative menu, friendly service. This return visit was as great as the first.
Despite the noise level, micro tables, and cramped quarters...……... the service/staff, adult beverages, food quality and presentation excel, aka, well done. A 'must do' on the AVL food tour.
Very rare date night with the husband. Thanks for an amazing dinner and drinks! @heidibeegee
Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly! I would definitely go back next time I am in town.
Excellent meal a bit expensive.
We recently celebrated by husband’s birthday at Vivian. The food and service were outstanding. We will definitely be back!
Another excellent meal at Vivian. Four different brunch entrees (corned beef hash, deep fried pork loin, grit casserole, and and Vivian's two egg breakfast}, all of which were excellent. Throw in an "appetizer" of fried French toast with foie gras ice cream and just enjoy your time at Vivian.
Just go... you won't be disappointed !
This place was the highlight of our honeymoon trip to Asheville. A stylist at The Local Barbar shop told us that Vivian was a hidden gem and we almost weren't able to fit it in to our trip but we are so glad we did. Make it a priority to visit this place while you're in Asheville. We got the French Onion Soup dip with an Owl Bakery baguette that was phenomenal. We split the Tournedos Rossini that was honestly the best filet mignon we've ever had. We had their speciality dessert that we talked about on entire ride home it was so devine. Even aside from food, the atmosphere was so cozy and the staff was just as romantic. Cannot rave about this place enough!
Cleaned our plates each course. Delicious! Smoke balanced perfectly so you could taste every flavor!
Great restaurant in the River Arts District. We’ll back to try brunch.
We had a great romantic date at Vivian. The food was amazing with creative and new taste combinations and dishes. Everything is made in house and the waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered about 5-6 small, medium and large 'plates' and there wasn't a single one that didn't delight the palate! We'll be back the next time we're in Asheville!!
This is an amazing restaurant. It is quite loud. But worth it to enjoy the amazing food.
Flounder meal was very good but so loud you couldn’t hear... tables too small but did enjoy the food... we love ambiance & it was lacking
I was super excited to try Vivians but the food/service was just mediocre and the price was very high. We had the Valentine prefix menu so maybe their normal menu is better. I had to trade main courses with my husband because the fish in a bland gravy was not for me. With so many excellent restaurants in town I doubt I'll be back.
AMAZING! This is our 4th or 5th time visiting Vivian. We agreed that this was the best place we could've gone for Valentine's Day! They always do an amazing job with every aspect of your time with them. Food is always executed very well and flavors always on point. The space is very inviting and warm.
Vivian is always a "wow". Prix Fixe for Valentine's Day was exceptionally created and presented. Great cocktails by Sarah and an outstanding team of servers. Top-of-line evening out, and we didn't have to fly to NYC to get it. Thanks, Vivian!
Food was very dry with total lack of sauce.
Pleasant staff, creative cocktails, yummy dishes
Went for brunch. They have foie gras ice cream. And that’s all you really need to know to make a decision about dining here.
We were served by Bernadett, an exceptional wait person with excellent knowledge of the food and wine and a fun attitude. We began with the foie gras appetizer buttery and perfectly seared. The fillet mignon was hefty and done to perfection, topped with more foie gras and sitting in a sauce that I wanted to lick off the plate. Yes it was decadent. We had a french wine, a merlot, which we ordinarily would not have ordered but was suggested by Bernadett based on our input. Because she listened and cared the wine was exactly to our taste. Vivian's decor is not fancy but the food out does all those other places.
Very enjoyable. Attractive space inside, although we felt a little unsafe when we parked our car steps away from the restaurant because it was not well-lit, and we were stopped in front of the restaurant by a panhandler. Our server was terrific, helpful with the menu set-up.
Delicious meal tornados with foi gras, incredible!
Very NICE. I would highly recommend this place for dinner.
Fois gras, smoked oysters, flounder, pheasant all off the charts delish
