Ordered charcuterie board. It was dropped with no explanation of cheeses or meats. Waters never refilled. Plates all piled up on table. Was really hoping for a special brunch considering it was $150 for a family of four. Disappointing to say the least.
Great ambiance, mediocre food. We were greeted by the host who never welcomed us. A restaurant at this level should have the highest level of customer service but it was def lacking from the start. Service from the get go was not the greatest. Our waitress was the best part of the experience.
The shrimp cocktail was rather average. The charred caesar salad was lovely, but the eggs on the salad were cold and should have been warm. The Diver Scallops were excellent. Solid wine list. Service was also very well done and attentive. .
Unfortunately our short rib was served Luke warm. Great ambience and service though.
Upscale restaurant in the Carmichael Hotel. Vivante fits with vibe of the Hotel.
Great. Very small portions but all delicious.
The service was outstanding but we thought the food was just OK relative to the price.
Incredible!! Wonderful Scallop! Over the top delicious Salmon.if you are a Caesar Salad, white anchovy fan, The Caesar is not to be missed! Best server Ever!
First visit. Sadly dissatisfied. Fish served under cooked. By the time the meal was corrected, the wife finished her meal. Drinks downstairs were fantastic. Next visit will be for drinks without dinner. Too many options available to justify top dollar for a bad meal.
Vivante is a new restaurant in Carmel that's reasonably priced for an upscale restaurant. The ambience provided for a perfect New Year's Eve celebration, but would also be a good choice for families. We were not disappointed that we ended up here instead of our other choices that were full. The beef bourguignon was a well-seasoned melt-in-your-mouth beef with carrots that were perfectly cooked. Highly recommended. The side of squash was nicely cooked as well, plenty for two to share. The warm burrata appetizer, although delicious, was unfortunately very small. The flavors melded together in a perfect pairing. The creme brulee was smooth and delicious. We also ordered the opera cake and, although it paled to the creme brulee, it was delicious the next day. We highly recommend Vivante.
First time dining at Vivante and it was amazing!
Definitely a new favorite and will be dining there on a regular basis. Can’t wait to go back for the entertainment.
The ambiance made this meal… The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Our server was not very knowledgeable about the food or drink menu - and made the suggestion we should’ve come for brunch. We ordered a still wine and it was served in champagne glasses. The food is nothing to write home about.- would not return.
Food tasted fine, but seems pricey for portion sizes. Had high expectations based on the location and build up in the press, but flavors did not live up to those expectations. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing memorable. Our waiter was excellent and service was very good. Drinks were good and reasonably priced.
Service was slow. Three appetizers came. Had to ask for the other one, which took five minutes to get although it was the same appetizer..onion soup...as the other person had.
To light inside for a French restaurant.
No table cloths...just a plain table. Is not elegant like a French restaurant should be.
Two guests ordered the beef bourguignon came in a small crock pot and had bones in the meat.
Two ordered scallops...one guest ordered well done. When they arrived, it was not well done but almost rare. The guest sent it back and it didn’t arrive until after everyone had finished. The guest did not eat it but we immediately asked for our checks.
Lovely hotel but food and service lack immensely.
After being seated we asked the hostess if we could get another table and she told us she would check on it but never came back to even acknowledge the request. My prime rib was something I would expect to get from Golden Corral (thin, over cooked, and barely charred) and my wife's beef bourguignon was very average. I am writing this review in order to help management to make the place better but I would expect that they would already be putting their best foot forward.
The food was good and our server was nice. I was not impressed with the ambiance (felt cold) or the staff shirts (uniforms) they are mad to wear. It felt cheap. Also, someone around us, or one of the servers smelled like an ash tray which was a huge turn off when trying to enjoy a meal. We really wanted this to be good because there are very few places to go in Carmel that aren’t pizza or hamburgers.
We may try again for brunch.
Dinner had a small but good list of entree’s. Quality wine list. Excellent service. Dining room chairs were a little too low relative to table top. Very convenient underground car parking. Overall an excellent addition to the Carmel dining scene.
Wait staff was slow. Took about 20 mins to place our drink order and another 20 to get the drinks. We barely saw our waiter for the rest of the night. Food was just okay and not worth the price tag. I live in Chicago and have had equally expensive dinners but with way better food and service. This expensive of a meal in Carmel seemed like they were trying to keep up with the bigger cities but didn’t quite execute it.
Service was outstanding. They did a great job of being attentive and friendly without being overbearing. We didn’t have any bad dishes. The duck a la’orange and the Moroccan lamb chili stole the show and were outstanding.
We will definitely be back
Very fatty steak. Slow service. Pricey.
Weekend menu is not the A la Carte French menu, which I was not advised of when the reservation was made, I would deem this important information to share. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, overall a lack luster experience, had I been advised I would opted for dinner.
Furthermore, I found the restaurant ambiance not as expected, my experience in other French restaurants locally and internationally was markedly different in a positive manner; and to be honest it was rather noisy.
The service was okay, for me another disappointment, given the reviews of the restaurant as well the boutique hotel I had high expectations that was left wanting after our visit. The servers were polite and friendly despite the experience.
Given my experience I am uncertain whether I would recommend Vivante after this experience. However, to be fair I would probably be best placed to comment on this after I try out dinner at Vivante, my challenge is convincing my wife to give it another try for dinner.
Ambiance was nice. Quiet. Easy to carry on a conversation. Service was slow. Didn’t receive all items ordered. Asked for them and still didn’t receive. Had to remind the waiter a second time. Had to ask for drink refills every time
My friend went for a holiday lunch really enjoyed laid back
We enjoyed our time at Vivante. Food, drinks and service were great and we'll definitely be going back.
We had dinner at one of the Igloos available for the winter season. I had the mushroom soup and duck to the orange. They were delicious. Our server was very attentive and nice. I enjoy dry red wines and the bottle of Chinon available in their wine menu was really good and inexpensive.
We had a great time! The food was delicious! Highly recommend!
A fine place to eat. Service was great. A little hard to find if your not familiar with the local area. However, just call them and they will get you there!!!
Service was excellent. Atmosphere was wonderful. My husbands steak could have been better-cooked perfectly but a tougher piece of meat. Overall, I would go back and enjoy again.
Amazing food and ambiance. Will definitely be back again. Best duck I have ever had. A+++
ANNIVERSARY BRUNCH WITH MY WIFE, STEP DAUGHTER, AND HER GUY. VERY NICE PLACE! WE WERE TREATED LIKE ROYALTY. FROM THE CHAMPAINE TOAST TO OUR OWN SPECIAL BOSTON CREAM PIE EVERYTHING WAS FRONT ROW. NICE WINDOW SEATS AND AN AUTOGRAPHED PLACECARD AT OUR TABLE, SIGNED BY THE STAFF. THE YOUNG LADY WHO WAITED ON US WAS ALWAYS THERE JUST WHEN YOU NEEDED HER. VERY PROFESSIONAL! WE WILL BE BACK FOR DINNER AND SOME OF THE BRUSSEL SPROUTS EVERYONE RAVES ABOUT...... THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL TIME!
we enjoyed - so nice to have another 1st class place walking distance from our house - service was good not great - but not an issue - we enjoyed the food and thought all in all the place was worth the price points and we will come again
This restaurant is beautiful. Has a very energetic vibe and overall the food is great! The staff is great and the restaurant is clean.
Very good restaurant. They had a nice hand-made egg nog for the holidays which was quite good, and the food was well-presented and very good. Great ambience, not loud but also not stuffy, very comfortable.
Our server Mariah was outstanding and full of charm. All courses of the meal were exceptional. Highly recommend!
We went here to celebrate my sister’s 50th birthday. The server was so attentive to all of us. She made recommendations for us and they even had a champagne toast ready when we got there!! The food was great too. The only complaint was the cooked spinach with my husband’s dish was cooked in some kind of anise liquor and it tasted like black licorice! Would definitely go back though!
It was a lovely meal with all of the Thanksgiving details. It’s a beautiful upscale venue. A little pricey but probably worth it.
This place is absolutely amazing!
A lovely birthday luncheon for my daughter and we were joined by her 2 sisters. We all enjoyed our food and drink. The ambiance is wonderful.. a great place for lunch and can’t wait to return for dinner. Super service.. all in all a great experience . Best wishes
We stayed at the Carmichael for our anniversary and enjoyed the hotel very much. Service was excellent at the restaurant, and they gave us a card and free dessert to celebrate our special occasion which was nice. However, the food was not great. My husband had the steak tartare which he said was ok and the scallops were very good. I had the beet salad, which was also ok but the beets were very cold. I often order beet salads and know these are best served at room temperature (like you wouldn’t want a caprese salad with cold tomatoes). The salad was flavorless and did not seem fresh because the beets were so cold.
The wagyu beef medallions were cooked to my liking but again, the dish was just ok. The cognac sauce was over powering and the beef was nothing special. The Boston cream cake was also very cold as if it had just been pulled from the fridge. I know this is a minor detail but it really takes away from the dish when it’s so cold! Lastly, we ordered room service from Vivante later that evening and got creme brûlée which was fine, nothing special, and a brie bread pudding that was honestly the most disgusting dessert I’ve ever had. It was cold, hard and covered in a balsamic sauce that was horrible... it wasn’t sweet at all, just a weird savory lump of bread pieces. I honestly don’t think there is a person in the world who would enjoy this dish the way it was served. I feel bad leaving this review but I think it’s important for others to be aware of the dishes to avoid! We won’t be back, that’s for sure.
We were very impressed. Great meal.
