Vivace - Belmont Ratings and Reviews
Our evening was delightful. We were seated almost immediately, and on Valentine's Day, that is a rarity. The menu was perfect; a few specials and a nice selection from their regular menu. The service was excellent and the meal, delicious. My husband and I had a small
caesar salad and I had the petrale sole picatta, and he, the orecchiette pasta with sausage.
First time there and I like the foods. Great authentic Italian! I had the fettucini Vongole and it tasted fantastic. It's my go to dish to measure the authenticness of the Italian foods. Vivace made a great dish. Highly recommend this place. Parking is a pain.
I have been to Vivace many times and loved it. I guess they were just having a bad night. The hostess seated me and my dinner guest at two different tables in two different rooms, even though we both gave the same name as the reservation. It took 20 minutes to find each other. After we ordered it was taking forever for our food to come, so long in fact I had to talk to someone about this because our waiter had disappeared. We were told there was a big party in the back room. Everyone apologized and was nice about it, but I was really surprised there was no compensation for this maybe in the form of a scoop of ice cream? It was not a good birthday dinner for me and my friend :(
Three ladies celebrating a birthday, we had outstanding service from Fabrizio, and the cuisine was delicious. We had a wonderful beet and corn appetizer, unusual pistachio-fulled Arancini which were nice and crisp, Gnocchi and a vegetarian Pizza. AND, fabulous tiramisu for the Birthday girl!
This was my second time at Vivace. First time my order was wrong. This time the quality of food lessened. Ceasar salad limp and overdressed with dressing. My angel hair pasta dish was so drenched with sauce with way too much garlic. The same waiter as last time has a strange demeanor. The vibe is not great there. I think it’s mostly a neighborhood bar with food service and not particularly an upscale restaurant for Belmont. I will not return for a price point that is too high for the quality of food. I was disappointed.
Wonderful food, service and ambiance! Dishes are priced fairly and you get nice portions of food that has fantastic taste! They have weekly specials which are wonderful and creative! Family run and it definitely has up scale service and decor! It's a favorite place of mine!
I'd like to give this 3.5 stars. My husband and I were looking for a neighborhood date night location and this was our first visit to Vivace. Our service started off wonderfully, our server friendly and he was also very helpful picking out an Italian wine to pair with our pasta choices. We enjoyed our dinner and the wine. It seemed around the time we finished our dinner that our server had a high turnover of tables at once, as he hurriedly brought dessert menus to the table and disappeared for a long time. Enough time passed that I no longer wanted to wait and worried that waiting for dessert and the bill after that would be too much, so when he finally returned we declined dessert and asked for our check. All in all, we did enjoy our dinner and would likely give Vivace another try.
My last two visits to Vivace have been extremely disappointing. They seem to be systematically overbooking so that reservations are meaningless. Two visits ago my wife and I had to wait 30 minutes before being seated, and the only reason we were seated then was because we bumped into another couple we knew by chance and we agreed to take a 4 person table together. Last night we arrived on time again but after wait ing 30 minutes were told there were still a couple of parties ahead of us. We left in frustration and went down the street to another restaurant where we were seated immediately and had a wonderful meal. The unpleasantness of the wait is magnified by the fact that the bar/waiting area was packed with nowhere to sit and no way to get a drink either. So, my advice is go early or don't go at all. Your reservations is a farce.
I brought two friends here for the first time and they were so impressed that they want to return again soon. I guess I take Vivace for granted. I have been coming here for years and always leave happy. The deco is impressive and the food is always excellent. We started with the Burrata cheese appetizer. It was lovely, but would have been better if it was served with toast, bread, or crackers. I wish the waiter had checked in with us. I had the risotto special with Viking scallops and so did one of my friends. We were both very pleased with the perfectly cooked scallops and the thick risotto. My other friend had my "go to" dinner which I recommended, the Orecchiette pasta with sausage, fennel, and broccoli rabe. The waiter was professional, but not very engaging. I like to hear about the menu and I would have liked him to check in a bit more frequently. When we asked for dessert recommendations, he didn't really have any, so we didn't order one. As I mentioned, I have been coming here for years and normally would have rated the service higher. It was great to see Vivace through fresh eyes and realize that I need to appreciate this absolute gem and not take excellent dining for granted!
Service was also outstanding. Reason for "very good": we were seated in a quieter area at our request and since there were fewer tables there, there was a slight wait for the bill which was not a problem. The server/waiter also went to extra effort to supply extra implements for some shared plates. Overall experience: outstanding!
Had high reviews, I was optimistic. Came in for lunch with friends. Gnocchi a Bolognese was very acidic and salty and gnocchis had strong flavor of flour rather than potatoes. Chicken was moist, but sauce was very salty and green beans were overcooked. Third person wasn't hungry so ordered an appetizer and thought it was ok. Overall, it's a nice place, nice ambiance, but 2/3 dishes was not up to our taste and service was ok.
