Vivace - Belmont Ratings and Reviews
I brought two friends here for the first time and they were so impressed that they want to return again soon. I guess I take Vivace for granted. I have been coming here for years and always leave happy. The deco is impressive and the food is always excellent. We started with the Burrata cheese appetizer. It was lovely, but would have been better if it was served with toast, bread, or crackers. I wish the waiter had checked in with us. I had the risotto special with Viking scallops and so did one of my friends. We were both very pleased with the perfectly cooked scallops and the thick risotto. My other friend had my "go to" dinner which I recommended, the Orecchiette pasta with sausage, fennel, and broccoli rabe. The waiter was professional, but not very engaging. I like to hear about the menu and I would have liked him to check in a bit more frequently. When we asked for dessert recommendations, he didn't really have any, so we didn't order one. As I mentioned, I have been coming here for years and normally would have rated the service higher. It was great to see Vivace through fresh eyes and realize that I need to appreciate this absolute gem and not take excellent dining for granted!
Service was also outstanding. Reason for "very good": we were seated in a quieter area at our request and since there were fewer tables there, there was a slight wait for the bill which was not a problem. The server/waiter also went to extra effort to supply extra implements for some shared plates. Overall experience: outstanding!
Had high reviews, I was optimistic. Came in for lunch with friends. Gnocchi a Bolognese was very acidic and salty and gnocchis had strong flavor of flour rather than potatoes. Chicken was moist, but sauce was very salty and green beans were overcooked. Third person wasn't hungry so ordered an appetizer and thought it was ok. Overall, it's a nice place, nice ambiance, but 2/3 dishes was not up to our taste and service was ok.
I discovered Vivace years ago, when a friend hosted a special occasion. It was wonderful for a group. Later, I began coming with a good friend to celebrate special occasions and the holidays. We love their great cocktails, wonderful service (Sanaa is charming, and attentive), great food, and chocolate lava cake. The bar area is very inviting and comfortable, and my friend tells me that the Happy Hour is great.
We were more than happy that we booked a table at 5:30 because, even on a weekday, the place was very crowded. Somehow the activity did not diminish the service which was crisply efficient. Our meal selections were ample and well prepared. We had a good time which is the purpose of dining out.
We were so impressed with Vivache - all of the staff were happy to have us as guests and made sure we had a great time. The water glasses were refilled, the bread was replenished (great tapenade by the way) and the server answered any questions we had about the menu. We happened to choose their wood burning pizza - which was really good - even though we originally were going to have pasta. Salads were delicious and the portion size was good enough that we shared one salad. We'd return here again for sure. And, some of the competitive restaurants might want to visit this place to see how to take care of guests.
Had a business lunch here for 7 people. They have a variety of menu where vegetarians can choose up to 4 dishes. The calamari steak that I ordered was rich and flavorable. Appatizers were great. One of my coworkers love the bread so much that she have to take some home. I recommend this place for business lunches. I wish there was a dedicated parking. We have to park on the street.
