Viva Tapas Lounge - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
This is an undiscovered gem on the waterfront in Old Town. The food rivals much more acclaimed restaurants both in quality and in presentation, while keeping with the theme of small plates. DON'T MISS THIS ONE!
The chef has been there for about 6 months (as of 8/2010) and has made this a place worth visiting! She even came out of the kitchen during each course to explain the preparation. She is a native of Montreal, and is a true discovery.
We are looking forward a return visit on our next trip to Montreal.
Chef Michelle is outstanding. We really enjoyed the evening.
We ate the Salmon Tartar, Pan fried calamari (we didn't want fried so Chef made special), Thai salad with oyster mushrooms, garlic shrimp. These were all Tapas. Then we split the Seafood Palella. All choices were fabulous. Great energy here and superb service. Chef even delivered some entrees to the table. Can't wait to return.
Wow! It was unexpected... found Viva via net and chose it for it's proximity.I was taking my sister and her husband out specifically for tapas. They had never tried. Now I don't think they will want to eat any other way!!! We chose all 12 tapas on the menu except the salad. We asked that they take their time so we wouldn't feel rushed. Everything we ate was a visual pleasure. Most were outstanding. The beef and the salmon tartare were the best I've had!!
The service was flawless, the people extremely nice and always smiling. I will go back and I have started recommending the place to all my friends and collegues!!
Thanks Viva for a great evening!!!
We had a group of 14. The food was outstanding. Unfortunately, the service wasn't as the waitress seemed to be alone serving the entire restaurant with three large groups. We weren't even given the option of dessert, but after nearly 21/2 hours, we were ready to go. That was a problem as all of the others were trying to go and the waitress had to prepare the checks at the same time. I'd go again, but I would prepare for it to be a long evening!
