VistaVino Modern Grill Ratings and Reviews
I was looking for a new spot for a special celebration and decided to try VistaVino. So glad I did. From the appetizers to the entrees to a shared dessert we were delighted by each course. Both of us decided that we would eagerly look forward to a return visit. Only thing I would comment on was that it can be a little loud. Fortunately we had a table near a window corner where it was a little less intrusive.
If you've never been, try it!
This was our first time at VistaVino. It was AMAZING! We read all the great reviews on Open Table and decided to try in for ourselves. It was our 16th Anniversary so we thought we would try a place with a high rating. Everything was top notch. The bibb salad was fresh and the dressing was so good, my husband and I split that one. They list were all there food comes from at the bottom of the menu. The Roasted Pear Mascarpone Purses were so good! I would go there just for them. So many great flavors all married together that I couldn't even talk while I ate them. I had the Shrimp and Orzo as my main entrée and my husband had the Carbonara with shrimp. I joked with our very friendly server that the shrimp were as big as a baby's arm. Everyone was kind and friendly. They gave us a complimentary dessert (yummy crème brulee) since it was our anniversary. The wine was good and my husband enjoyed his Peroni on tap. The places was full but not overly crowded. Good ambiance and service was great! I would give it six stars if I could. We forgot to take pictures but definitely will next time. Can't wait!
Menu could use a bit of updating. No fish options, other than shell fish and if you happen to be allergic to shell fish, you're out of luck. Loved the Arancini appetizer and that is gone. Grilled Caesar salad, was not really grilled like it usually is. Was good for Castle Rock where there aren't a lot of good choices.
We have been to VistaVino a few times before. Every time that we go, the food is awesome, the wait staff is wonderful and the owner is friendly and welcoming. I had the halibut this time. It was absolutely delicious. I hope it will still be on the menu next time that I go.
Once again the food at Vista Vino was consistently delicious. The manager on duty was helpful in getting things started for us and checked back frequently. Our server, who I suspect might have been a newer staff member was just OK (he did his job, but wasn't anything special, wasn't very attentive, and seemed a little awkward at times).
We went on a Saturday night with another couple and had a really good appetizer and the ladies ordered a reasonable bottle of wine. The first problem was bar service as the guys ordered vodka and tonics and they did not arrive. We glanced at the bartender and she was chatting with a customer at the bar and did not look too busy. When we asked the server why our drinks did not arrive she stated that the bartender was very busy - this is a small place and just a glance behind us told us otherwise. Finally we got our drinks. We then ordered the special ravioli and when it arrived we were surprised that the portions were so small - three raviolis for $30 - they were OK. We made the same mistake and ordered another drink and got the same treatment. Soup was good and the salads were good but overall not a good night and not great value.
We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday and it was enjoyable and relaxing even though the power went out to the restaurant due to a blown transformer. It actually made the ambiance even better and they were still able to get our food to us hot. The food was excellent, atmosphere inviting, service was top notch and friendly even with the challenges associated with losing electric power. We would go there again in a heartbeat.
Excellent food, service, and modestly priced wine list. Staff is very welcoming and knowledge able regarding the menu. Monthly wine tasting events are well done and reservations go quickly. Owners are hands -on with service and suggestions for food and wine pairings. Our new favorite restaurant.
The food as always was awesome, although my husband said the portions were too small, even with having appetizers.
The biggest downer was an altercation with the owner/maitre'd, who reemed me out in front of our guests from Australia. My husband is quite sensitive when he feels like I am out-of-line or pushing something too far. I asked him when she left, if I had gone too far, first in being seated at the bar and then not very nicely being told that I had to move, as I was blocking the drink service, and then asking for the same price on a bottle of wine, when after much back-and-forth, we could not get the originally chosen bottle ($3 difference). My husband said, "maybe a little, but she was clearly belligerent."
When I had pointed out to her that it was difficult for me to get up and down off stools due to my being handicapped from a couple of knee surgeries, she yelled at me that I could tell her nothing as she had had 8 knee surgeries. I did not mention just coming off of major surgery for a total rebuild of my abdominal wall or my shoulders not working, also needing surgery, which complicates my ability to maneuver.
Anyway, my recommendation comes with some hesitation, as this incident really ruined the evening for me and our guests.
The place was so noisy that I could rarely hear anyone speak. I would suggest that if you have problems in noisy places, ask for a table outside or go times were they are not so busy.
The waitress and bar tender were excellent. I would have given 5 stars, if the owner situation had been different.
We recently moved to Castle Rock and were looking for a restaurant that was at least a step above a chain. Vino Visto had great reviews so we tried it. We were not disappointed. It is a lovely small, original restaurant, with delicious choices on the menu. We went on a Saturday night at Happy Hour. We tried several things on the menu and were pleased with all but one. We will definitely be back! If you are dining with small children, they do not have high chairs. It is a very small place which is a huge part of the charm. A treasure in a small town. Totally would recommend this wonderful place.
