Janine and Michael (owners and chef) have the front end and the back end (kitchen) down to a science! Everything from a friendly greeting upon arrival to a wonderful set of choices on the menu. Michael prepares everything with a expert and deft touch on seasonings and presentation. Janine is a wonderful resource if you need help to navigate the wine list although the "foodies" that this couple attracts do well on their own. It is obvious why they have such a loyal fan base once you dine here! Why would anyone go to a chain restaurant when there are such wonderful choices like VIsta Vino?
Great place in Castle Rock. Locally run with an artisan flare. Food is fantastic, all home-made, delicious, fresh and a nice menu selection. I was pleasantly surprised by the wine menu as many were small batch wineries and the owner takes pride in the wine list. Service is great - we will certainly be back. We usually travel to Denver for nice dinners. VistaVino stacks up with any of them. Highly recommend.
When we first arrived the waiter brought out some warm bread with a bean dip to replace the butter. This dip had way too much Garlic, glad I asked for butter.
I had the Lamb Chops and my companion had the Shrimp. Both dishes had too much seasoning, specifically pepper, overwhelming the flavor of the dishes which I am sure were probable great.
We have eaten here before and did not experience these issues.
Ordered 4 different entrees. The veggie stack mushroom had dirt still on the portabello. Affected the taste quite a bit. The carbonara was very rich and good. The other entrees were ok. Not sure i would return. Quality vs price - not good quality for the price.
VistaVino was recorded by a friend, and WOW! it was a great recommendation! Their happy hour prices are the same menu as later in the evening (after 6:00), just lower priced. The WHOLE menu. The burrata appetizer was fresh, light and perfect for a summer evening on their patio. We also had the cheese platter, which I'd highly recommend. The menu changes regularly to take advantage of fresh local ingredients, so these may or may not be available on our next visit. For dinner, we each had the lamb chop, which though it was over salted, worked okay along with the cauliflower puree. The puree, by the way, was the best cauliflower puree I have ever had. It was light, tasty and a perfect compliment to the heavily seasoned lamb. They have a decent wine list, but honestly, the wines by the glass are excellent, and with happy hour prices are a steal!
My friends from high school had flown in to visit so I HAD to take them to our favorite spot! Vista Vino did not disappoint; everyone loved the restaurant and (of course) their food.
The wait staff made us all feel special - they recognized me - and when the entrees arrived everybody was impressed and dug in.
I forgot to mention the pear marscapone purses... that app is just amazing so we shared an order - they didn't last long.
I was looking for a new spot for a special celebration and decided to try VistaVino. So glad I did. From the appetizers to the entrees to a shared dessert we were delighted by each course. Both of us decided that we would eagerly look forward to a return visit. Only thing I would comment on was that it can be a little loud. Fortunately we had a table near a window corner where it was a little less intrusive.
If you've never been, try it!
This was our first time at VistaVino. It was AMAZING! We read all the great reviews on Open Table and decided to try in for ourselves. It was our 16th Anniversary so we thought we would try a place with a high rating. Everything was top notch. The bibb salad was fresh and the dressing was so good, my husband and I split that one. They list were all there food comes from at the bottom of the menu. The Roasted Pear Mascarpone Purses were so good! I would go there just for them. So many great flavors all married together that I couldn't even talk while I ate them. I had the Shrimp and Orzo as my main entrée and my husband had the Carbonara with shrimp. I joked with our very friendly server that the shrimp were as big as a baby's arm. Everyone was kind and friendly. They gave us a complimentary dessert (yummy crème brulee) since it was our anniversary. The wine was good and my husband enjoyed his Peroni on tap. The places was full but not overly crowded. Good ambiance and service was great! I would give it six stars if I could. We forgot to take pictures but definitely will next time. Can't wait!
Menu could use a bit of updating. No fish options, other than shell fish and if you happen to be allergic to shell fish, you're out of luck. Loved the Arancini appetizer and that is gone. Grilled Caesar salad, was not really grilled like it usually is. Was good for Castle Rock where there aren't a lot of good choices.
