The food was cold and the service was slow. To add insult to injury the restaurant marked as a no show with Open Table and I had to straighten that out the next morning.

Was there for Sunday brunch. Menu had great variety for my vegatarian friends. Everything we had was delicious. Staff was friendly and effecient, the space is slightly industrical but still very comfortable. Did not partake of the bloody mary, but it looked amazing.

Fish tacos were great. Burger highly praised. Server was attentive. Only downside is it's just too loud and always drafty. And the bench where we sat was torn, so showing signs of wear and tear.

I’m really surprised the restaurant receives such high ratings! We ordered drinks which were good and got an order of tacos which had arrived at the table literally in the amount of time it took me to use the restroom right after ordering. The fish in the tacos had obviously been just sitting in the kitchen and wasn’t prepared fresh to-order and was pretty chewy. The flavor overall was just okay definitely not worth the hype and the atmosphere was as confused as the menu. Definitely a disappointment. It felt like a tourist trap.

Our party of seven all loved their dishes, which ranged from the amazing Lamb Tazine to fish tacos. Three of us had salads with tenderly cooked salmon on top. The salads had an interesting combination of ingredients, and weren't slathered in dressing, and were refreshing to eat. Drink refills came easily and often.

Perhaps we should have indicated that we had a limited time, however, as we barely squeezed in sharing a dessert, as our waiter disappeared at the end of the meal, and took 15 minutes to bring hot water for tea.

The upstairs, which has a loft sort of feel has been cleverly broken into different areas by placing couches in one part, and netting around some tables giving an illusion of privacy.
Despite the lament about the timing at the end, Virtue Feed and Grain is one of my top two favorite local restaurants.

Seating, ambience and food was perfect. Service has been better. Server was nice enough just not present- not personable, didn’t check in that much, we ran out of condiments, he didn’t offer to bring a high chair, would have easily ordered 1 if not a couple rounds of drinks if he was around.

Food was good. Service was great.
Only problem was we made an 11:30 res on a Saturday for a family brunch. While being shown to our take the hostess turned and told us they are not serving brunch and suggested we could leave if we wanted

My date was running behind for our reservation and I mentioned it to the hostess Kelly and she handled it exceptionally and was a great hostess to deal with. Also our waiter Ryan did a great job of recommendations and also was great at not interrupting often since this was a first date. The food was great and good portions. Their beer and wine list was above average and met all of our needs. Definitely will visit again and I highly recommend reservations!

I was in Alexandria for a meeting and this was a great place to go for a quick bite. Scott, our waiter, was attentive but not intrusive. I had the grilled chicken BLT and it was great!

As soon as I arrived I spoke with hostess requesting a table upstairs (I made request online as well) and she said, don't you worry, I have a very special table set aside for you. We sat at the bar for 30 minutes and when it was time to be seated the waiter took us on the main floor and I immediately stopped and said, we are upstairs remember. So the "special table" she promised was given to someone else. I was with my boss who never gets to DC area and selected this restaurant because I've been there several times personally and loved it. If you promise something, then in front of my boss, don't deliver, it is embarrassing. She was with me when I made the first reminder on arrival. : (

The restaurant was crowded and tight. I had to keep sucking my belly in to pull my chair up to the table super close just so the wait staff could squeeze around me. The restaurant is REALLY loud, so don't expect to have a good conversation with your dinner party. I had to tell at my friends the whole time. The food was ok, but not super fantastic. I didn't experience what the hype was all about...sorry.

We had Sunday brunch on 11/5. We were so glad they could accomodate 1 extra person in our party. Appetizers were ok.. crab dip and hush puppies.. I ordered Fish tacos and it seems it was tilapia it was bad.. my other friend order chicken with waffles they were ok.. and the other one a burguer which seemed the best choice. This is my second brunch there and I saw a declined in the quality of the food.

I was surprised by how slow the service was. There is so much competition in Old Town, the owner should demand better from the staff.

This was my first time at this quaint little establishment and I was VERY pleased. I sat outside on their great patio which even had a peek of the water (from my chair). The hostess was very welcoming and warm as was the bartender who also greeted me. My waitress was Randi, she was fantastic. I had the filet which was outstanding and cooked to perfection. I must admit though the item that was a surprising stand out was the root vegetable bake. This was FABULOUS. I was truly amazed. I don't even like some of the vegetables used in this delicacy, but WOW. I am looking forward to my next visit and many more to come in exploring their extensive menu.

We went to Virtue Feed & Grain for our anniversary. My husband had the halibut and I had filet mignon. Both were terrific. Since I am gluten free, our server substituted a gluten free vegetable that was not to my liking and then offered to substitute it with another vegetable, which I liked. Likewise, my husband asked for a substitute for the rice pilaf and they were happy to substitute sweet potato fries instead.

On the negative side, I was asked on my reservation if we were there for a special occasion and I mentioned our anniversary, but it was never mentioned. Not a big deal.

The only other thing I would say is that this place is loud, so don't hope for a quiet dinner here. "Energetic," to say the least.

I had a 5:45 reservation for 3 people on a Thursday night. We were seated promptly upstairs, noticing several parties in attendance and a very busy bar area. The noise was quite loud but we made the best of it. The food was pretty good, small portions though. I love Virtue Feed for the atmosphere but would prefer to dine outside where noise is more manageable.
