Virtue Feed & Grain Ratings and Reviews
Staff was nice and attentive. The service was fairly quick and the food very good. We loved the smoked salmon burger and the steak and fries. The only bad thing was that the music from the private party upstairs was way too loud and the only way to communicate was literally yelling, we actually sat right next to each other to hear better. Other than that, we enjoyed the experience.
We enjoyed our date night here, and the lively atmosphere on a Saturday night. The food and drinks were delicious, and the customer service from host desk to servers was great. My only complaint was the lack of choices for vegetarian/vegans - there are only 2 entree options. I had the sweet potato tacos, which were very nice. My husband loved his Umami burger and would've happily eaten any of the variety of meat choices the menu offered, but with only 2 meal choices for me, we won't be regular customers here.
I've been to Virtue Feed and Grain 3 times and my experience has been very mixed. The first time I was there, the food was great. The second time, the food was mediocre. I went back a 3rd time and unfortunately on this third visit, the food was really bad. I had a pork sandwich which was supposedly the special that day. The pork was tough and dry, seemed like it was overcooked or had been re-heated in the microwave. It also had an enormous slab of pure fat in the middle of the sandwich. On top of that the pork was bland - it had no flavor whatsoever. The service was good and the restaurant has a nice ambience, so it's a shame the food was so bad.
Have been to Virtue for dinner and happy hour, this was the first time going for brunch with my boyfriend and two of our friends. Service was good and the food was incredible, my boyfriend and I split the biscuits and gravy and the Chesapeake Benedict. Only comment would’ve been more gravy to dip the biscuits into. Great spicy Bloody Mary’s and at such a deal for $5 a refill! We ordered some dessert afterwards, pecan pie and the icebox cake. LOVED the ice cream on the icebox cake and the pecan pie was perfect. Will definitely be back again for brunch!
We made reservations for 6 on New Year’s Eve and overall, we had a great time. The ambience was great and the service was very good. The food, however, was not up to par. I am not sure if it was because we had reservations a little late (8:00 PM) and didn’t start to eat until about 9:30, but the prime rib was considerably overdone and was not very tasty. I ordered rare-medium rare and it came out well done....looked like it had been heated with a microwave. Brussels Sprouts were very good, but the potatoes were very sparse....not sure if they were running out. A friend ordered roast duck off the “Special” menu and was not pleased with the portion size. We certainly didn’t let it spoil our celebration and had a great time. Our server, Jamie (I believe), did a great job. We will probably give it another try, but can not recommend until we verify food quality.
This was my first time to have their brunch but it will not be the last. The BEST chicken and waffles I've EVER had. The beer gravy was fantastic! My husband had the French toast, which was equally delicious. Our waiter Randy was a complete sweetheart and although they were very busy she was quite attentive. This place is quite exceptional.
This didn't feel like a professional operation. Two items from the limited special occasion menu (3-course dinner for Christmas) were no longer available by 7:15, and service was uneven (such as waiting several minutes after the soup was served for soup spoons). The manager was apologetic and really tried to make it up to us, which we appreciated, but nevertheless it was a disappointment.
We went for Christmas dinner 2017. They sat us in the front of the restaurant which is separated from the bar by a partial wall. The music was loud and combined with restaurant noise, we had to yell to talk to each other. On most other days, I wouldn't mind, but I was anticipating a quieter setting for Christmas dinner.
Our reservation was at 6:30 and we were on time. By that time, one of the offered desserts was already gone. By the end of the meal, three of the desserts offered were gone. I thought that was poor planning on the restaurant's part. On the up side, they allowed us to order from the regular dessert menu.
Overall, it wasn't bad, but nor was I impressed. I'm not likely to go back. Definitely won't go back for a special occasion.
It was Christmas Eve and the place was clearly understaffed. Our very nice server was overwhelmed. Orders got royally screwed up, food lukewarm and overcooked. We pointed this out, and the manager, also very nice, took 50% off the bill. Very much appreciate the gesture, but seriously doubt we'll ever return.
I was surprised that having a reservation got us such a poor location in the restaurant. We were seated right outside of the kitchen. I joined my family late so they were already seated or I would have said something. We had great service and the food was good but I wasn't impressed with the hostess given our seating.
