Went to this restaurant the second time in a week. It is very conveniently located in the heart of Old Towne Alexandria and lots of parking options nearby. The restaurant atmosphere is casual and inviting and the ambiance is well set up and maintained. The wait staff was very attentive and courteous. The food quality is very good. I think I preferred the appetizers and drinks over the entree items. But overall the experience was very good.

Met a friend I had not seen in years. It was the perfect place to meet. Not so loud that we could not hear each other. Brian our waiter was great. Food was no outstanding.

We were a party of 4 celebrating a birthday, had an upstairs corner window table in the back and it was significantly more quiet than the downstairs bar vibe and volume levels, which we appreciated. A first visit for all of us and we loved everything we had—from the hot apple cider to the crab dip and calamari, to the short ribs, fish tacos, shrimp and grits, and the delicious pumpkin cheesecake. Service was attentive without being overbearing. We will be back!

This place was awesome! My wife and I were in Old Town for one night. We are on a road trip and needed a place to grab dinner. Virtue was the perfect choice. It’s good vibes in there. We made a reservation but we were early and hungry about 15 minutes before we booked. They took us to our table no problem. The menu is extensive, which we enjoyed. We split a beer flight (loved the punny names), crab dip (incredible), a burger, and a salad. All the food was delicious. And the service was fantastic too. We will be back if we are ever in town again. Highly recommend!

SHOCKED. My family was shocked by the arrogance and meanness of a manager named Marie who threatened to cancel our son's surprise 25th birthday reservation an hour before guests arrived including friends from London. We made the reservation well in advance and we regularly dine at Virtue. We called the restaurant ahead of time to request a particular table. Our shock was not about the last minute move to another table that Marie wanted us to make (a larger group needed the table), it was her arrogance and meanness. SHOCKING from someone who works at Virtue. We moved to the area from Hawaii several years ago to work in the U.S. Congress and found Virtue to be one of our fave restaurants UNTIL this incident happened. MARIE'S CONDUCT MADE VIRTUE LOOK UNDIGNIFIED.

For a 9:00 reservation our meal was a rush job. We received our drinks, then within 5 minutes we had our appetizers and less than 5 minutes later our meals. They the took the food back and when it was returned it was quite obvious it spent 30 minutes on a warming stove. My wife’s ahi tune salad was wilted and the bottom side of her ahi tuna cooked. Quite frankly ruined the whole evening on what was otherwise a great stay in Alexandria

food and service were great. we chose to sit outside on this beautiful day. Unfortunately, the tables were not set. Meaning we had no salt and pepper no tablecloth, no place mat etc. that was the only thing lacking. We both had delicious salads with plenty to bring home for tomorrow.

The baked rock fish and duck fat fries are still stars on my food stage. Luckily, I was served by Scott, who makes it his business to know everything about every food item and drink—a mark of distinction in my book. There’s nothing worse than dining out and the server looks dumbfounded by your questions. Never happens with Scott, who adds to the dining experience with knowledge.

Great food with a great drink list. For a place right in Old Town, the price is reasonable. Drinks, apps, and entree will avg about $50 per person. (Oct 2023) We loved the feel of the old building and definitely recommend it. Our server, Kevin, was on point.

Broad menu, very good drink offerings, vibrant atmosphere in a prime location in Old Town. Lots to like here. Food is much improved over the Virtue of 2-3 years ago. Not all just heavy food. Two in our party got salads, which they very much enjoyed. Pretty tasty steak quesadilla, although not enough of it and the plate is too small so everything was on top of each other. Fun that they have hot apple cider (with or without Murlarkey cinnamon whiskey). Perfect fo r this time of year and for the cozy but fun atmosphere at Virtue. Attentive, personable, and professional staffing all around. We'll be back.

Very good food, but after we told the waiter we were not in a hurry the food came in less than 5 minutes. Also, very strangely the busboy wiped bits of food off our table directly on the floor next to my feet. Never saw that before. Still a very nice time.
