Excellent selection of beer, nice variety of food items which were all delicious.
My second meal there & first dinner. Virtue feed & grain pleases me.
Best burger I’ve had in a long time. Sat outside with a view of the Potomac. Great food, great service and great ambience.
Everything was amazing, from the food to the drinks to the service. Will definitely be back!
Great burger and tacos. Excellent waiter. Sat outside on a pleasant evening
Virtue is one of my favorite Old Town Alexandria restaurants. The food quality is high and the service too.
It’s so nice to get a table outside. The margarita is really good! Everyone’s food was great too.
Excellent food. Excellent and friendly staff. Great overall dining experience!!
I never do reviews, but this place was amazing!!! From the food to the ambiance... I loved it all. The shrimp tacos were fantastic!
Delicious food and safe environment
Food & cocktails amazing !
Love bourbon this is your go to spot -
The restaurant was delicious. The duck poutine is fantastic; you should get it if you go. Overall, the food was terrific, and the brunch menu had some tasty options. If you have the option, sit upstairs by the windows overlooking the Potomac, excellent for the cool fall days coming up!
we had a great fun , we had brunch. I ordered chesapeake benedict, and it was great. the crabcake was Delicious, the eggs were cooked perfectly. my friends ordered chicken fried steaks and also chesapeake benedicts too, we also got crab dip and glazed wings, the wings were little bit too salty. we ordered bunch of cocktails, we were seated outside and it was perfect,.. beautiful view and weather that day. It was fun to hang out there.
My Bestie had a great birthday celebration!!💜💕 thank you!!
Fantastic, eclectic ambiance with amazing food and great service!!
I really wanted to like this place, but I can’t say we’ll be back. We were planning to be in the area with the family and wanted to enjoy a nice dinner. The reviews, pictures, and menu all looked amazing. When we arrived, we were told there would be a short wait if we wanted a table on the patio, but the table was ready in only about 3 minutes. So far so good! Then things started to go downhill. When we asked what drinks were good, the waiter described to me (female) a frou-frou cocktail, then turned to my husband and recommended a few beers. Um, ok, some big assumptions there, but probably accurate for half of couples. We asked for a two appetizers, and said we’d follow that with three entrees to share amongst the 4 of us. The appetizers came out relatively quickly, but then the three entrees came out within 1-2 minutes after that. We literally couldn’t fit that many dishes on the table and were holding them in our laps. So, only mediocre service (albeit very friendly). Now for the food. Fried green tomatoes: tomatoes were very crunchy and completely uncooked, although the breading was overdone. Just meh. The shishito peppers: I’m can’t say I trust these were actually shishitos! They were enormous, nearly the size of Anaheims, and relatively tasteless. A waste. Umami burger: definitely a highlight, we all thought it was great. The fries, however, were cold and leathery. Beef short rib: the meat was tender and delicious, but the mashed potatoes were quite dry and dense, and the broccoli was barely steamed and completely dry and unseasoned - could have used a quick pan fry with a bit of butter or broth and some salt. And the fish tacos: just meh. One small cube of sautéed fish in each of three large tacos that were mostly cabbage and thin guacamole. Moderate amount of flavor, but not what I would have expected. The donuts were great, but the waiter’s suggestion of a side scoop of gelato somehow turned into two scoops (and double the charge, of course).
I ordered the steak salad. The portion was very generous and the steak was cooked perfectly. Just delicious!
GREAT as always!!
This place has outdoor seatings, which is excellent. It’s only a block from the waterfront. There is a Ben & Jerry near by. We sat inside because of the long wait to seat outside. The waiter appears to rush us to order the main course. The fish and shrimp tacos we ordered were good, three per order. The restaurant used sword fish in the fish tacos that night, which we didn’t care for. We should have gone with two orders of the shrimp tacos. Next time we’ll inquire about the fish before we order. If possible, get the outdoor seats because the ambience is much better. We’re not sure if we’ll come back because there are other similar restaurants near by.
Loved the pork barbacoa tacos! Delicious!!! Thank you!
I took clients there for drinks. We had a reservation but requested to go outside and they found us a table. The drinks were great. The service was a bit sporadic at times.
Great food and wonderful location.
This was my first trip to Virtue Feed & Grain, and I was very impressed. We ate outside at lunchtime on a holiday, hence the noise rating. It was crowded, but everyone was aware of social distancing and the tables were appropriately spaced. The menu was interesting, but the delivery on the menu was fabulous. The food came quickly, despite the crowd, and was delicious. The service was perfect. Can't wait to go back.
Cocktails and beer selection were great. Burger was solid, but not great. The other entrees (the French dip and short ribs) were really good.
Excellent service and beautiful venue. Right in the water, food was delish with a variety of options.
It was SUCH a beautiful night out. Their patio was open, properly social-distanced, and their precautions were great. The food was all delicious and will absolutely go again!
Waitstaff were friendly and attentive. The chicken sandwich and fries were reported by my son as very good. My spinach salad was also very good. However, the shrimp and grits were not at all good. Not even acceptable, really. The dish contained four medium to large shrimp. The texture of the few I received was poor quality--over-soaked in saline. The gravy was terribly greasy and lacked any real flavor. There was also far too much on the dish. It just ruined what was aimed to be a decent dish. I mentioned this to the person who swung by our table, who seemed to be one of the managers. She just said, "Oh, that's too bad', and took my plate away. No attempt to make it right.
We've been to Virtue dozens and dozens of times, and have always had a great experience. This one will make me question if we want to return again anytime in the next year or more. Quite disappointing.
Great food, great atmosphere, staff cares about the experience. What’s not to like?
It was my
Cousins birthday dinner. We had a good time and it was a nice day sitting outside.
Brunch was excellent. Both server and management were attentive and caring. Tables very appropriate for social distancing and every server wore mask and gloves. Very good experience and will be back again
Our server took over 30 mins to take our order. He made it seem like it's unacceptable to order an appetizer as entrée and spoke with sarcasm throughout the night in different durations that was so unwarranted. When we finally had enough and asked for the manager, he at first tried not to get the manager. Only when I insisted did he reluctantly get the manager. The manager, Kate, said that she will make it right by saying "I will take care of you for today, I got you covered" but when it was all said and done still brought us the bill. Incredible how a restaurant like this can be in business. Seriously, such incompetent customer service. Ruined our Saturday night out.
Played the Derby and enjoyed it. They advertised it and we went. Sadly we were the o my ones who dressed up for the derby, but we enjoyed our time at the restaurant.
The whole experience was amazing. We got our food within 10 minutes of ordering and thats almost unheard of. I mean it was so packed! I gave it a 4/5 stars though because it was our anniversary and I had a special request that they seemed to had overlooked but either way we enjoyed the restaurant where we took our engagement photos. Coming back 1 year later was very special to us.
It was great!
Overall food was good not great and its a great location with lots of options. Can't say I'll be returning anytime soon with so many options in Old Town
Awesome view, sat upstairs near window! Good food!
We sat outside and had a wonderful experience. Service was fantastic and the food was delicious.
We really loved our dinner at Virtue Feed and Grain! Our waiter, Joe, was really awesome and made the experience even better. The food (we had an appetizer, dinner, and dessert) came our really quickly and all of it was delicious. The peanut butter dessert is an absolute must for anyone who likes peanut butter!
Really nice and safe environment in complying with COVID safety distancing and sanitizing
