It was a brunch date
Our waiter Jack was so helpful!
Gave good recommendations and helped with wine selections. Very attentive .
Love the ambiance. A bit noisier than we like but would go back if I’m the neighborhood.
The location and ambience here is amazing - it is especially great for a winter cocktail at the upstairs bar and seating area. The food is thoughtfully crafted and beautifully served. It is quite noisy, so it may be a bit challenging for an intimate conversation.
Potato tacos were well seasoned but a little on the dry side, I think a little sauce would’ve remedied it. My boyfriend enjoyed his steak and fries. Restaurant had nice ambience but it was a little cold. No complaints about the waitress. I’d probably come back again.
Steak salads were delicious. Outdoor seating was relaxing. Prompt seating for our reservation and pleasant outdoors. Relaxing with attentive service with no pressure to leave.
We had a great time As we always do which is why we keep booking and going to the restaurant. The food and service is always excellent
We had a great time! Will & Tom were very charming, very proud of their awesome Bourbon collection. Food was very good, Will quickly become our downtown go to place!
Virtue Grain and Feed was a delightful surprise. Despite being located in prime "tourist territory" at the bottom of King Street in Old Town Alexandria, the food was excellent, the service fast and attentive and the old wood beam ambiance a nice touch. One note: We ate downstairs as the upstairs was closed due to a private event, but would've preferred upstairs if you're looking for quiet conversation. If you like noise and energy, then downstairs is the place for you as it does get quite loud being part of the bar etc. A great place. We will be back!
Great to sit outside for dinner. Good drink selection and food was excellent. We've been there 5 times and will be back
Our server Scott was exceptional as was Chef Aldo Aviles and his cuisine. From the front door we were greeted like family and treated as such. It is clear this restaurant is geared to go beyond the customer satisfaction experience. They are the true picture of excellence!
The duck poutine alone will bring us back again and again! We had a friend join us from out of town, and she was delighted in the vegetarian options. My partner ordered his fourth Umami burger despite my begging him to try other things on the menu. I ordered the short ribs, which are so delicious and rich. The three of us began with duck poutine, which honestly could use more cheese curds. But the amount of duck piled on top is generous, so it's stilly to complain, really.
Our service was friendly and quick, despite the restaurant being filled to the brim and very, very loud and boisterous! A wedding was going on upstairs, and the beautiful weather brought everyone out for dining waterside... the staff kept on top of everything, and dinner, as always, was delicious. The bill is always a bit shocking, but Virtue provides value for money. A rich, decadent meal, with a flourless chocolate cake split three ways... perfect!
George provided excellent, attentive service. Both the BLT burger and the mahi-mahi tacos were outstanding.
Great food and great ambiance
The flyer in the women's bathroom on the second level says that brunch is until 3 pm on Sundays, but the waiter said that it was only till 2 pm. Please make sure to update the info... I was a bit disappointed that we were late for brunch... Thank you!
We sat outside with our dog and enjoyed the early fall weather by the waterfront. Highly recommend the Bloody Mary and hush puppies!
Maybe I should’ve done more research. It seemed more like a bar that serves food than a restaurant; if that makes sense. I expected it to be a quiet restaurant but there is a vibrant bar scene. It was quite noisy. People constantly moving around. The food was very good. You won’t be disappointed. I had a grill chicken sandwich. My wife had the short ribs, potatoes and veggies. She didn’t care for her meal but tasted it. It was pretty good. The service wasn’t spectacular but it was decent. Our waitress could’ve paid us a little more attention. All in all though it was a nice night out. We will definitely go back now that we know what to expect. My advice is to go and try it. It really was a nice place. For date night or just being with friends. So try it! I’m glad we did.
Good food TIGHT Tables
Love this restaurant, although the air traffic seemed particularly loud on Monday
Our food also arrived before we had finished our pre dinner drinks
Lovely setting, good food, good value. Service, at least outside, could have been a bit better as it took some time to get the bill. Otherwise, a very pleasant atmosphere.
I love the going to Virtue Geed and Grain. The outside dinning area is perfect for dogs.
Great good, ambiance and service. Portions were big and great quality! Will definitely recommend to my friends.
Love Virtue but please get a few more bodies on the floor for Saturday nights - our waitress was fine but seemed super busy and the volume made it hard to hear her chat through many of the tasty menu options!
Glad to hear V F and Grain is with new ownership, but here are some helpful points: 1. Gotta tell your servers that when people are seated outdoors at the later hours for dining, they deserve the same attention. Runners bringing food who don't know who gets what, cannot speak English well, detracts from dinner when it's not busy. Server wanted us to close out, brought check before we said we were done ordering, very uncool. Let people share tips or have schedules that better match later diners (and we didn't dine that late!) 2. Bar drinks are expensive, the customized cocktails. (4 drinks for $60) Fine by us, but they need to be consistent and delivered after being made--ours had different garnishes with each round, no garnishment, different strengths, watered down. Not good at all. 3. When table is ready early and we're cashing out with bartender, don't rush us to the table when it's not necessary. Hostess gave major attitude that we weren't ready right away, even though we'd originally been told we'd need to wait possibly past our reservations, and we were fine with that. But, let us do our check, don't ask us to have one of us get seated so you can be done with us, just wait for us to return with our check at the bar paid, when it's not that busy. 4. Ahi salad was only okay and felt a little sick right after finishing dinner and had to leave--not sure if it was the dressing or maybe the avocado but will not order that again due to the stomach ache right after dinner that had us cut evening short--and the time in the bathroom at home later.
Our second visit to VF&G and it is always a pleasure. Service is good, food is good, can't say anything bad about it. Love the area too.
Another excellent experience at Virtue. Tried brunch for the first time and it did not disappoint. Everything from the drinks and food to the comfortable and relaxing patio ambience was fantastic!
Cocktails need a lot of work.
Sat on the patio with a nice view of the Potomac River.
Food was very good. It was a little loud.
Wait staff was excellent.
This was our second visit to Virtue Feed & Grain. The first was for a friend of the families baby shower, the second for our anniversary. In can say in both case this restaurant was chosen for these two special occasion's because the ambiance, the management, the staff, the food and service is something special. We definitely will return sometime soon in the near future.
Amazing! Great service, great food, great atmosphere, would definitely recommend and will be going back soon!
Loved this place!!!!
Had an enjoyable lunch, sat at the bar and the bartender did a superb job of keeping an eye on us and making sure we got what we needed. Happy to be a repeat customer.
Beautiful venue with a friendly welcome long staff. Underwhelming food & service.
The Staff and Vibe was amazing! Plus they are so Pet friendly too :-)
I was the friend that got referred and it was perfect for my first date.!
We had very poor service. Our waitress was not attentive, made mistakes on our order and spilled water onto one of our party and into her entree. The waitress didn’t come back to wipe up the water and we sought out help from the Hostess and seriously no one moved on our request, nor was an offer of a new plate of food made. Eventually the waitress did come back and said it was only water. Very disappointing.
I love coming here. The food is incredible. The service is always spot on. AND they have a dog menu which makes this my go-to restaurant when we're in Old Town with my pup. Also they buy local and that's important to me!!
Delightful to sit outside
The burger was very good.
Southwest Caesar salad was a disappointment. No significant Southwest ingredients.
Hostess Maureen was exceptional at her job.
We would return when next in Alexandria
Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, answered our questions, and when asked helped make a choice between two items. We enjoyed our food and the side window were all open to the patio letting in the perfect weather that day. But it was totally packed and very noisy, so those looking for quiet conversation should be alerted!
Food is fresh, innovative. Service is on top of things. Management is friendly. I've never had a bad meal here, and we go here often. Nice wine list. Great outside dining. They often have specials, which I also appreciate - need to shake it up once in awhile! They had a wonderful grilled-peach-over-greens salad this summer! Occasionally, too, they dream up a new dessert, often using fresh, local ingredients. There's something for everyone here - even my vegetarian kids can find something they feel good about eating.
