Delicious food with a different spin. Southern inspired, but delivered with SF flair. Ask for a fork with dessert, tho...
I am absolutely in love with Violets! The bartenders make the best drinks, the snacks are tasty, and the decor (especially the glassware) is stunning. Special shout out to Aaron and Kelly for their impeccable service and making it such a warm, welcoming night out. This place is officially my go-to.
I googled best burgers in SF. We were celebrating my boyfriends birthday and he wanted a burger. We live in Cow Hollow and typically would walk to one of the many restaurants in our neighborhood. Violet's sounded lovely and we liked the menu and description online. It did not disappoint. So refreshing to get out of our neighborhood and we feel like we discovered a gem we would never have know about. Food, service, ambiance was wonderful. It was the perfect spot for a low-key birthday dinner. We left wishing it was in our neighborhood.
The oysters were the best I have ever had
Burger was delicious. Service fast and friendly. Got really loud when full and became difficult to hold a conversation with my dining partner.
Food was good; oysters, tavern burger and pork belly. it was quiet since it was early, 5:30 reservation.
service wasn't 5 star but it wasn't bad.
Violet's has a really nice wine selection and well made drinks. The food is unremarkable and a bit expensive. Good hamburger and Impossible burger, rock cod sandwich was terrible. The salads are boring. The kitchen could up its game -- it is almost there. Nice to have in the neighborhood.
IT's good to have such a great restaurant in our neighborhood!
The entire experience was great: food, service, ambiance. Thank you!
This was such a great surprise all around. I had read about Violet's in the SF Chronicle everything was excellent, delicious! An added plus, my friend ordered a mint one of the best cocktails we had in a long time; it was perfect!
Excellent service and wonderful food. Simple as that!
Had an outstanding meal. Cool place, great service. The house negroni is delicious. Get the nuts and steak tartare. Burger is delicious. Loved the mussels. Had every dessert on the menu- banana pudding was my favorite.
This was the 1st time at this restaurant. Good cocktail menu, very limited food menu but of good quality. The service was VERY attentive, to the point of not allowing us to enjoy our meal at our pace. The kitchen did not wait until we had finished our cocktails and appetizers before bringing out our main courses. They were understanding and brought them back out JUST AS we finished the appetizers. As they brought out the mains, they failed to ask if we wanted another drink or wine list. Once we settled the bill, the staff quickly removed all silver from the table.....wierd.
If you are in a hurry to get a quick meal, this is the place for you......
Great Father’s Day brunch. Our waiter was wonderful and so was the food!
Fantastic food. Who knew that gem existed in SF? It reminds me of my other city favorites like Comstock and Blueplate. We’ll be returning often.
Definitely wish I didn't wait so long to go here. The food (particularly the seafood), cocktails, service and atmosphere was perfect. I can't wait to go back. :)
The Roasted chicken is amazing. Also buy biscuits for the delightful sause.
Always a great experience! Food and service are perfect!!!
It was great! Tasty food and good vibe. The waitresses were wonderful and very attentive.
We sat outside and the only drawback is it is a fairly busy street.
We had time to kill as we waited to pick up kids from an event. We sat at the bar and enjoyed drinks and olives while we waited to be seated. The meal was correctly paced, cooked to perfection and flavorful. The service was polite, friendly and prompt. We hope to be back!
Seated early. Split a Tavern salad. It was just ok. Ordered the tavern burger. Again, just ok. Burger was actually small. Most of the plate was filled with French fries that were ordinary. My friend ordered chili pepper rock cod. On the plate was one fish filet. Nothing else. Not a carrot or a string bean! That was $28. They have interesting cocktails but they were pre-made. Really, you can’t mix a fresh drink? In no hurry to come back. Was looking forward to a new restaurant in the neighborhood but this was disappointing.
Food was overly salty and unexceptional. We waited 20 mins at our table before our server ever showed. Restaurant is cute but nothing to write home about, unfortunately.
Hands down the best burger I have ever had. We came here because we saw that the burger was on the 7x7 top 100 dishes in the bay list, and we had already been to Fiorella’s a couple of times and fell in love with it, so we knew it would be good.
The burger was so tender it completely melts in your mouth. Even though it comes with bacon and cheese, it doesn’t feel heavy. We were both completely satisfied and full but didn’t feel weighed down by all the food we had. The fries were perfectly crispy and the chocolate creme brûlée was absolutely perfect. We don’t normally like creamy desserts but it was like eating melted chocolate ice cream mixed with brownie batter. We seriously considered getting more creme brûlée and burgers to go in our way out.
The space is not very large but it has a very cute Art Deco style and our waiter was very helpful and attentive. We will absolutely be back a few dozen more times.
I went specifically for the Impossible Burger and there was none. We ordered 2 burgers and got only one at first. The second one arrived 15 minutes later. They took the second one off our bill. So disappointing.
The best things I can say about violet’s were the cocktails and the service. Service was great! Our server took my dairy allergy seriously which I appreciated. The food was overall “meh.” We had the steak tartar, the chilled asparagus, fries and the chicken for two. They also didn’t have any dairy-free options which was disappointing because I was looking forward to something sweet. We wouldn’t get dinner here again. The only reason we would come back is for bubbles and oysters.
very noisy. would not order the chicken again. salad great and dessert excellent.
Love this place!!!!! Have been many times and will recommend to anyone.
Great list of cocktails, amazing staff and the food was very well prepared.
Wanted to try a new restaurant with friends and stumbled into Violet’s on Open Table !
Great food , vegetarian friendly, friendlier staff who were welcoming, attentive and made it a fun experience. Highly recommend.
Delicious food and drinks( cocktails). Our waiter , Marcel, was absolutely terrific
Great local restaurant
Mother’s Day brunch
We had a lovely dinner at Violet's. Our server Jade was amazing! Super friendly and attentive. The food was good, but not outstanding and the place is a bit overpriced, in my opinion. Great neighborhood spot though, so nice to have more restaurant options on Clement Street!
The Hostesses were great, we had reservations but we got there an hour early and they said no problem when our table opened up she will come grab us at the bar. We went over to the full bar and tried to order drinks but the bartender was what seemed to be pretty much deaf. I was sitting i the window with my girlfriend and my friend was ordering drinks and all the she kept saying was I can't hear you. My friend was facing the bar and we could hear the entire order. Thinking it may have just been the tone of my friends voice so I ordered the next round and bam, the exact same thing happened. We figured out that she was doing that to everyone. Maybe it's time to switch positions or have the restaurant turn down the music. Anyways we got seated early by the great hostess, thank you. The waitress described the questions we had on the menu which was nice but... she described the "Boneless ribs with crispy pork belly" 100% wrong. She said they are her favorite but she described them as "Boneless ribs with crispy pork belly" and they were not. We ordered 3 orders which came with 2 pieces. 1 order had no bones, 1 order had 1 bone, the other had 2 bones and they were all noting but soft pork belly fat except the 3 pieces that had bones had a little along the bone. The chef came out to apologies and was really nice but his excuse is she's new. One friend sent his back and got another order of the beef carpaccio which was good the others couldn't eat anymore after trying to eat pork belly fat. The waitress also took our starter orders along with our side orders but she brought ALL of them for starters.... at the time we laughed but after the mains were delivered we were really annoyed because the mains only came with small garnish on the plates. The only reason they got 3 stars out of me is the hostess were great, staff was nice and they have the potential with venue, ingredients and staff they just need to get it together.
We made a last minute reservation and all that was available were the outside tables, so we bundled up. Their warmers are so good that we took off our outside layers.
Service is top notch. Cocktails and food are creative. It’s a great neighborhood restaurant.
Love this neighborhood place. Great drinks
Great food and service. Excellent wine list with good choices per glass.
The waitress seemed annoyed at us the entire time. The food was good but the chef refused to substitute bread for a hamburger bun b/c my father can’t eat seeds. They also seemed annoyed that I sent my steak back when it was not even rare and I ordered it medium rare. They sent a dip as a sorry but it wasn’t something we would have ordered.
Food was definitely delish but a bit pricey.
Water refill service was spot on and super friendly.
Waiter was neither. Missed part of our order and seemed bothered—barely did the job.
Music was awesome-alt 80s & early 90s—lots of Pixies and The Cure ❤️ So refreshing and set a perfect tone.
