Violet was amazing. Every dish is so thoughtful and perfectly prepared. I thought the menu selection was excellent, small well curated choices. I wanted one of everything. We can’t wait to go back!
Had the American omakase tailored to our specific dietary constraints (pescatarian, non-dairy). William the chef conjured a dinner of five such dishes. The first and last were vegan, with three seafood dishes in the middle. All of them and their wine parings were near perfect. Violet will be a regular return experience!
Gorgeous place, superb service, dreamy food.
Amazing food and ambiance. Definitely coming back with our friends.
Fantastic food and great service. Great space - seems to be somewhat of a hidden gem. Highly recommend dining here.
Best spot to impress out-of-towners! Our friends from SF loved this place. The Violet Martini cocktail is one of the best I've ever tried in my life and I'm not even a martini drinker. And then food-wise, anything on the menu will blown your mind.
It's sad more people don't come here. We've had several dishes on the menu and have never been disappointed. You can tell the chef cares about the food. You can watch as he teaches a young protege how to nurture it. The short rib is delicious. We like the octopus and risotto as well. The chef's menu is great because of the subtle tastes that are woven throughout. Tonight was a refreshing citrus.
The food was unbelievable and the service was great! Will be back to try the tasting menu option.
Excellent dinner with friends. William never disappoints. Had a bottle of 2012 Gemola to go with the great food (highly recommended)
Quality of food was excellent and so the variety and sophistication of dishes and ingredients.
Capers purée was a pleasant novelty . Very delicate.
Chef William and his staff courteous and very attentive.
Food was delicious and vibe was fun.
A new Seattle favorite!!!
Great dishes from a great chef whose passion is obvious in every bite.
First time here and had the chefs tasting menu. The food was good. The sardines were great, the beet dish was flavorful; and the wine pairing was on point.
Delicious food, excellent service, light, relaxed and cozy environment
The food is really good but they haven’t really changed the menu or cocktails since it opened from what I can tell. The cocktail menu is a little basic and could be upgraded for sure. The chef/owner is a very nice gentleman who really cares about his customers. I voiced my thoughts to him. We’ll see what happens!
Was absolutely amazing! Went with the Omikase menu and was blown away. This is my new favorite restaurant
Great food and atmosphere. Service was prompt and not over bearing. Romantic place for sure.
Went for an anniversary not fully knowing what to expect and we were blown away! The American Omakase was a journey, and we loved every minute of it! Attentive service and even better food (highlights were the beet carpaccio with burrata, seared foie gras, and panacotta with amaro gelee). Will absolutely come back!
This is not a $30/person dining option unless all you get is one of the cheapest entree and no apps or drinks. I’d say it’s more $60/person at least.
The restaurant is beautiful. Really great for a dinner to catch up with friends.
The food was super delicious, especially the scallops.
My main problem with our dining experience was that there were a couple of times it seemed like they were trying to up sell options - and not just like $5 or $10. More like $30-50.
It’s just creating discomfort when the pricing is not up front.
Always superb food and attentive, knowledgeable service.
Based on Seattle Magazines selection of Violet as the best new restaurant of 2019 we had high hopes for our meal,p. Our server was over wrorked so it took a while for us to get his attention to finally order our meal. We ordered two appetizers and two main dishes to share between two people. I happen to love white anchovies. Sadly the ones we received were just so so, they were a bit mealy which suggests that perhaps they might have been frozen at some point? The texture just wasn’t reminiscent of my previous experienceS of anchovies in Spain or Italy. The other appetizer we ordered was the scallops. They were cooked to perfection but there was no sweetness to them, in fact the whole dish was just lackluster. For our main dishes we ordered the duck and the branzino. The duck was again cooked perfectly, it was a bit chewy but of all of the four dishes this was stood out as the best. The duck was presented on a luscious layer of creamy sweet potato with a deeply flavorful Demi glaze sauce which complimented the richness and flavor of the sliced duck. Contrasting this dish with the branzino is difficult because the flavor profile of this dish although again beautifully cooked simply lacked flavor. The branzino was served with an herbaceous sauce,, clean and sparkling but overall the dish lacked personality. We’re small people but we left, walked a couple of blocks and got a slice of pizza. We won’t be running back for more it’s good but Violet didn’t bloom for us.
Thank you for your feedback.
Lovely atmosphere with food and service to match. Great wine. Perfectly prepared food - not too fussy and not too plain. Server and owner chef were friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. My new favorite spot.
Thank you for your feedback.
Outstanding meal! Probably the best scallops I have had recently. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked and had a delicious jus on them. The caramel panna cotta was delightful and went perfectly with the recommended cocktail pairing. Even as good as the food was, the ambiance bears mentioning as well. It is a great little neighborhood place with casual yet sophisticated vibe. Considering becoming a regular!
Thank you for your feedback.
The food is GREAT! Love the music selection and ambience too :)
Thank you for your feedback.
Some initial confusion with our reservation, which was quickly resolved. What a great experience!.
The food was very well-made, clearly the chefs skill and joy in cooking shows through. The scallops were exquisite!
The steak was perfect cooked. My only quibble was the green sauce served on the side with the steak, it was weirdly flavorless and tasted “green”.
Everything else was just perfect. Also highly recommend the chocolate soup dessert. The berries were perfectly formed, and the chocolate in the soup was a delicious complement.
Sat at the bar, our server/bartender was attentive, checked back frequently, and was genuinely friendly.
Not inexpensive, but not Altura level of extravagance, either. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic food and excellent service. Great date night!
Tried the American Omakase. It was excellent.
Unbelievable restaurant! Perhaps the best dinner I've ever had. Amazing selection of dishes you can't find elsewhere, great cocktails. Everything is fresh and delicious. Must try!
We had a great experience all around! we are coming back for sure.
Food was good but the portions were small ordered 3 apps and 2 entrees for 2 people left still hungry and took long to get food to the table
Amazing food but very small portions.
We both enjoyed the omakase dinner. The courses came at a perfect frequency and we’re all delicious. Even items we wouldn’t normally order, anchovies on sweet peppers, were delicious. The scallops were my favorite. Great staff, very attentive, personal and pleasant. Even the cocktails were great. Neither myself or my date usually have two cocktails but we both enjoyed a second. Truly a unique and wonderful meal. Highly recommended.
Excellent and simple food, wait service was friendly and professional.
My favorite newish restaurant. My good fortune it’s very close to home, so I can walk there. I’ve loved everything I’ve eaten there. I highly recommend it. You’ll be glad you went there.
Restaurant was way to cold !
This is an absolutely superb little spot with what may be the best food I've ever had in Seattle. The sophistication and attention to detail with every dish is amazing.
One wants to like Violet for the attractive space and energetic buzz. The Mediterranean menu and preparations are creative, the service seeks to please and the food flavors are good. Parking in the area is very difficult. Noise level is pretty high. Portions are quite small even for the entrees and prices tend to the high side. Recommendation is mixed: Violet is worth a try but not sure we will go back.
The food was OK at best and really not up to par with the reviews. We were at the beginning of the second seating and most of the menu was 86th. For a restaurant that was billed as an antitheses of the “Amazon palette”, certainly they have a long way to go. The service was cheerful but inattentive. The food good but not remarkable, and with it being open for over 6 months, the mishaps are inexcusable. Very unfortunate for what we had hoped. There are many other restaurant where a 150pp meal would deliver a much more satisfying experience
The service was perfection. Better than perfection. The food was perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and a wonderful medley of flavors. Only disappointment was that we noted it was a birthday on our reservation and there wasn't a mention of it or a candle put in the dessert we ordered. We had the scallop, octopus, and foie gras appetizers, the lamb and duck entrees, and the panna cotta dessert. All outstanding. Would have been nice to have a bit more dessert selection. Well deserved solid 5 experience.
We had always liked Mistral so we thought we would give Violet a try. We would absolutely go back. The service was attentive, and unrushed. The food was outstanding. When we arrived another customer rushed over to our table and said we had to try the tomato consomme. It was unlike any tomato soup I have had and incredibly delicious. I also had the rack of lamb which was also perfectly prepared and excellent. Overall, the place had a really friendly vibe and we will make a point of going back.
