Outstanding meal! Probably the best scallops I have had recently. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked and had a delicious jus on them. The caramel panna cotta was delightful and went perfectly with the recommended cocktail pairing. Even as good as the food was, the ambiance bears mentioning as well. It is a great little neighborhood place with casual yet sophisticated vibe. Considering becoming a regular!

The food was very well-made, clearly the chefs skill and joy in cooking shows through. The scallops were exquisite!
The steak was perfect cooked. My only quibble was the green sauce served on the side with the steak, it was weirdly flavorless and tasted “green”.
Everything else was just perfect. Also highly recommend the chocolate soup dessert. The berries were perfectly formed, and the chocolate in the soup was a delicious complement.
Sat at the bar, our server/bartender was attentive, checked back frequently, and was genuinely friendly.
Not inexpensive, but not Altura level of extravagance, either. Will definitely be back.

Unbelievable restaurant! Perhaps the best dinner I've ever had. Amazing selection of dishes you can't find elsewhere, great cocktails. Everything is fresh and delicious. Must try!

We both enjoyed the omakase dinner. The courses came at a perfect frequency and we’re all delicious. Even items we wouldn’t normally order, anchovies on sweet peppers, were delicious. The scallops were my favorite. Great staff, very attentive, personal and pleasant. Even the cocktails were great. Neither myself or my date usually have two cocktails but we both enjoyed a second. Truly a unique and wonderful meal. Highly recommended.

My favorite newish restaurant. My good fortune it’s very close to home, so I can walk there. I’ve loved everything I’ve eaten there. I highly recommend it. You’ll be glad you went there.

This is an absolutely superb little spot with what may be the best food I've ever had in Seattle. The sophistication and attention to detail with every dish is amazing.
One wants to like Violet for the attractive space and energetic buzz. The Mediterranean menu and preparations are creative, the service seeks to please and the food flavors are good. Parking in the area is very difficult. Noise level is pretty high. Portions are quite small even for the entrees and prices tend to the high side. Recommendation is mixed: Violet is worth a try but not sure we will go back.
The food was OK at best and really not up to par with the reviews. We were at the beginning of the second seating and most of the menu was 86th. For a restaurant that was billed as an antitheses of the “Amazon palette”, certainly they have a long way to go. The service was cheerful but inattentive. The food good but not remarkable, and with it being open for over 6 months, the mishaps are inexcusable. Very unfortunate for what we had hoped. There are many other restaurant where a 150pp meal would deliver a much more satisfying experience
The service was perfection. Better than perfection. The food was perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and a wonderful medley of flavors. Only disappointment was that we noted it was a birthday on our reservation and there wasn't a mention of it or a candle put in the dessert we ordered. We had the scallop, octopus, and foie gras appetizers, the lamb and duck entrees, and the panna cotta dessert. All outstanding. Would have been nice to have a bit more dessert selection. Well deserved solid 5 experience.
We had always liked Mistral so we thought we would give Violet a try. We would absolutely go back. The service was attentive, and unrushed. The food was outstanding. When we arrived another customer rushed over to our table and said we had to try the tomato consomme. It was unlike any tomato soup I have had and incredibly delicious. I also had the rack of lamb which was also perfectly prepared and excellent. Overall, the place had a really friendly vibe and we will make a point of going back.
The food was delicious and impeccably prepared. The portions were very small. Very small. Ordered 4 things for 2 people and walked away still hungry after paying a big tab. So, go, the food is wonderful. Just order a lot and splurge.
Violet never disappoints! The food is so thoughtfully and creatively prepared. The flavors spot on. The service is amazing and makes you feel like a close friend. The wine and cocktail list always impresses. I highly recommend the Omakase with wine pairings for a leisurely experience that will keep you coming back for more. Violet is my go to and never disappoints.

We had a delicious summer dinner at Violet’s.
I really like the peaceful energy in this transformation of the old Chavez space. Lamp shades, soft music contribute to creating a calm friendly setting for thoughtfully prepared and presented food. The service was a bit slow, otherwise this visit to violet was a great experience.
Delightful find. A pocket gem on 12th.

Superb, all around
Decided to try Violet with friends based on a Seattle Magazine write-up; the write-up did not do it justice. Incredible, creative “American omakase” food and extremely accommodating of various dietary restrictions at our table. Excellent drinks as well, not to mention an incredibly enjoyable table visit from the chef/owner. We will absolutely be back.
Service needs to improve. The appetizers were really really good. The plating on these needs to improve. The food is so good but the plating is not inviting. The entrees were disappointing. The only vegetarian dish in the entree menu was the asparagus risotto. The dish was soupy, the rice was not cooked to perfection and the asparagus was crunchy and not well done.
The pineapple dessert was great. The presentation of the dish needs a lot of improvement to be more inviting.
Violet is excellent including food, waitstaff, bar, physical space. Ambience is friendly, not fussy, which requires a delicate balance.
We are frequent diners and always bring a new person/people with us. Their experience has been similar to ours and many have returned.

This was absolutely wonderful. The chef came over and explained the dishes to us and actually gave us a free appetizer that was not on the menu because he wanted us to try it and experience the dish. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys fine dining with a casual atmosphere. The food was unbelievable was well
The appetizers were very good, the entrees were flavorful but tough (duck and steak).
The large table next to us was very loud and the waitress spoke softly. The chairs were stiff and upright. They had the large garage door open and it was one of the cool nights so overall the ambience was not very good.
The food was excellent. However, we made a reservation for 8:30, but had to wait at the bar for almost an hour before getting our reserved table.
Fantastic dinner! Definitely a top restaurant in Seattle. This was my third time dining here for dinner and each time I was very impressed with the food. I also really like the space. It is small, sheik, comfortable and airy and just has a really pleasant and cozy feel. I highly recommend giving Violet a try!
Food was delicious but portions slightly too small for price and group size
This was my second time to Violet and the great service and food were repeated. Team honored request for a table in the corner to accommodate father-in-law who is hard of hearing. Wine list is reasonably priced and entrees were beautifully plated. Vegetables and salads were crazy fresh and the house salad is a standout winner. We will be returning soon.

Food was very tasty, though 3 of us ordered the duck, the portion was much smaller than the lamb and steak portions and all 3 duck orders were cold since it was sliced very thin, it sat while our other orders were being plated. Timing is everything!
This is my third time to Violet and I have found my new favorite restaurant in Seattle! It took me a while to get to Violet, since I loved its predecessor, Chavez, and was mourning its loss. However, Violet is nothing short of amazing in everyway! I was so pleased to see Brenda continued from Chavez as the head waitstaff . She is a class act in every way--gracious, knowledgeable, and lovely to be with. Brenda makes the dining experience extra special. I love what they have done to the place--and it is beautiful with the warmer weather. What a wonderful selection of craft cocktails and wine. And then there is the food! The chef and owner, William, is astounding! The attention to detail, the taste and the food quality, the presentation--all A+. This is one of the finest restaurants in Seattle. Hurry in before it becomes so well known that you won't be able to get in. If you really want a special treat, order the chef's menu! It is made with love and care, and presented beautifully. I can't say enough about Violet!
