Vintage Cafe Ratings and Reviews
The food was very good . Portion was a good size and pricing fit well .
The service was on the poor side . My sandwich rolled off my plate onto the table and the waitress just said oh sorry about that . I was not offered to have another plate brought to me and I just picked it up from the table and placed it back onto my plate . Maybe inexperienced but this situation should be addressed if how to handle when it occurs .
Our most recent visit to Vintage Cafe left us with the impression that the restaurant may be going downhill. Unfortunately, there was a very long blonde hair sitting on top of the main course dish our dinner guest had ordered and the restaurant's response to this problem was crass and disrespectful. Finding a hair in your food is, of course, unappetizing, but accidents do happen. It was the response of our waiter that was particularly objectionable. He intercepted this dish that a busboy had removed from the table for us and brought it right back to the table. It appeared the waiter was simply going to serve the same dish to our table, which would have been unpleasant enough. However, he held the dish under our dinner guest's face and asked her to point out the hair that she had found. Because earlier the busboy had not offered to dispose of the hair our dinner guest picked out of her dish, we had waived down another waitstaff to do us the favor of removing the hair our dinner guest was still holding between her fingers. So the hair was already gone. Yet, our waiter was asking us for proof of our complaint. He could have learned all he needed to know about the incident by asking the busboy as well as the waitstaff who finally disposed of the hair. He would not have needed to cross-examine our dinner guest. This highly unprofessional treatment of long-standing customers by a waiter who has worked at this restaurant for years is unacceptable.
Came for pre-concert dinner. Got greeted by al the staff as we walked by on our way to the table. Service was excellent and everything we ate was very good. The drink that the waiter recommended was also very good. We didn't have to wait long for our food . Made it to the concert with lots of time to spare.
Our first experience here and it was excellent. The atmosphere was great. The drink menu was versatile from the classic martinis to your modern make in cocktails. Blood orange cosmo was delicious. Appetizers and salads were fabulous and main courses were fantastic. Great value for amazing ambience, excellent service (Carlos is amazing!) and a superb meal. Highly recommend.
Martinis were wonderful! Especially liked the lemon blueberry! Loved the portobello fries and our entrees were very good. The bread pudding was also very good but we would have preferred a sauce other than chocolate. Would be nice to offer bread with dinner.
It started off with tasty octopus salad. We had some spicy mango martini. Carlos was attentive and very helpful. I highly recommend the escargot and get some of that extra warm bread dip it in the leftover butter garlic sauce. We ordered the ribeye medium side of sauce and it was well worth it and very yummy. We had the tuna tartare which did not stand out compared to the rest of the meal. The cap off the meal had some dessert a creme brulee and that was yummy I love the atmosphere perfect for a dinner date.
2 couples out for a nice Saturday night dinner...they seated us in the rear ...an open area.....very noisy...
food was good not great...
the waiter was funny..it must have been his first night and he was soooo earnest...but we asked him a few times about the history of the restaurant and the chef's background......he didn't know and never found out...
This is an amazing and incredible eatery in the heart of uptown Whittier. Such a nice atmosphere and great staff. The owner is wonderful and all her employees are welcoming. Great service by Ray. The food is truly noteworthy, including superb lamp chops and the rib eye steak is perfectly cooked and seasoned with the mushroom sauce. Wonderful, memorable experience. Fantastic restaurant.
This outstanding gem in uptown Whittier is an excellent restaurant through and through. The service by Ray is outstanding - he's a very knowledgeable, professional and a service oriented individual. He knows the menu items and his recommendations were excellent. Lamb chops and the chicken piccata were both outstanding and prepared to perfection. It's amazing that a restaurant of this high quality and caliber is located not in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, but here in our local neighborhood. Definitely try this restaurant and enjoy fine, quality and expertly prepared cuisine with world class customer service by Ray.
despite having a number of good things going for it i'm only fifty-fifty on this restaurant. it was 7:00, mid-week and the place was dead. maybe more lively later. the menu is a bit limited, ranging from sandwiches to a few rather expensive entrees
We really enjoyed our experience at Vintage Cafe. Service initiated and conducted by Ray was absolutely fantastic. He is customer oriented, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu items and the nightly specials. He was attuned to our dining needs and checked in with us frequently. He made our experience extra special. The food is spectacular - the lamb chops and rib eye cooked to perfection (get the mushroom side sauce - it's a nice compliment to the carne). Caesar salad was a special salad this night and it was one of the best I've ever had. Nicely seasoned and mixed to perfection. Might want to include it permanantly to the regular menu.
Great Whittier restaurant. We had a delicious spicy mango martini to start (get one!) an order of perfectly fried calamari and an order of mussels. Both delicious. Our dinners were perfectly cooked rib eye and filet mignon. We added the mushroom sauce which comes on the side and definitely takes the steaks up a notch! No room for dessert. Main courses were reasonable portion. Not a giant portion of mashed potatoes or spinach , but that's a good thing. No need to load the plate.
Highly recommend you try this place. It does get loud. Small place. Tends to amplify the sound. If you want quiet ask for back area.
Service was a bit slow for a tiny place. They don't rush to get you out. We had nowhere to go. But if you on a timeline, you may have to bug them to get out of there quicker.
We have enjoyed the Vintage in the past, but this last time maybe our last time to eat at the Vintage. We have had a problem with the noise level before, but this last meal was so loud we couldn't hear each other. The server completely forgot our appittzer and the chicken piccata was over cooked and tough. From five stars to one overnight. Shame
Second time there. Celebrated Valentine dinner. The filet mignon and rid eye are delicious. Mashed potatoes perfectly seasoned and the asparagus yummy. Calamari delicious as well. The sole and seabass was a hit with our party. The old fashion always pleases. Wedge salad was spot on. Thank you. We will be coming back.
Decided to look for someplace to dine for Valentines evening. Don't usually venture out on this night due to how crazy it can be.
Happy we did and very happy to have given Vintage Café a try.
Food was excellent and service was above par.
My wife is a fussy drinker and she had a Moscow mule that was as good as she has ever had.
Looking forward to the next time we can visit.
