Definitely, we will be back. We just happened upon Vinoteca. Driving in the area, we opened up Open table to find something nearby and gave it a try. So happy we did. Reminded us of our trip to Tuscany. All the food was fresh and well presented. The only thing we weren’t sure of was how much to order. Know that the bruschetta is larger than you get at most restaurants. They use a full slice of Italian bread and load it up. Marvelous. We had the bruschetta w avocado and the one w peppers. I also had the roasted carrots salad. Yummy. The beets vegetable plate was super w the hazelnuts. We all shared our dishes. That’s the kind of place this is. If you don’t like to share this might not be your kind of place. We don’t eat off each other’s plates but when it’s good food we share bites. I loved how the waitstaff seemed to share duties at all the tables. We had a primary waiter but it never matter who you talked to, it was a team effort to make sure we had everything we needed. Their work looked effortless.
So many good reviews, but not our experience. Food was just OK. Very few protein options and a somewhat limited menu. Service and ambiance were OK, but we won’t be returning. There’s better food and value nearby.
Have been going to this place for years; love the food and the service. From small bites to huge meals, it was always a good choice.
Very tight seating area, limited meat selections other than charcuterie. Service was polite but slow. Bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer was fantastic, as was the pappardelle ragù.
Every time we go it’s very good and service is always very good
Great food & ambiance -
Poscol never disappoints. The food is delicious. The service is wonderful. We always order off the specials chalkboard.
It was great! Everything we had was delicious. Bolognese
Salad and flatbread. Spot on. Our waiter was very accommodating and it was a great place to go for a quick bite late on a Sunday night. And reasonable too! We will be back--
Celebrated my birthday at Vinoteca Poscol with a few friends and had a great experience. The food was excellent and came out very quickly. For four people we ordered the “grilled cheese” (delicious), a bruschetta, a salad, the polenta with salami, a flatbread and two pastas. The baked tagliolini béchamel pasta was the real standout. Can’t wait to go back again!
We are regulars at this restaurant - going every other month. We usually sit at the high top tables or at the bar. Good service. Love the small servings. Always delicious.
Extremely noisy. Food was good but dinner experience was ruined by small kids (less than 3 years-old) crying. Service OK but in autopilot. Very impersonal. High tables not very comfortable for eating. Upstairs feels disconnected from downstairs. Dissapointed. I might go back in a year from now.
Great food worthy of being associated with Chef Marco Wiles of DaMarco fame. Small plates allow you to sample a variety. Very good options on wine list. It is a bit cramped and tables are small because it is in an older house on lower Westheimer. But to be in a low key environ like this and get the quality and value they’re serving, its a good spot for foodies.
Always great food and service
We have been to Vinoteca Poscol on several occasions over the past few months and have found it fabulous on each visit. The variety of small plates and entrees is impressive at a very reasonable price. The "vino" in Vinoteca is outstanding.
Great food and ambiance!
Excellent food (small plates). Large selection with a very unique taste. Very large and unusual wine list with a very broad price range. Had a great evening and at a very reasonable price. The place was "energetic" as far as sound goes but this maybe a function of your neighbors. It was a bit too noisy to have a reasonable conversation.
Food was too oily but ambience and service were quite good.
Really good restaurant; excellent service by our waitstaff and the staff in general. Knowledgeable about their menu and offered fresh daily specials. Our pastas, risotto and salmon were excellent.
Keep going back to Poscol as it never dissapinta. Always excellent food AND service
This was only my second time there. The first time I went with my daughter and loved it! This time, the waitresses were outstanding but before everyone at the table finished their meal the busboy started to frantically to clear table. I doubt the waitresses would have allowed this had they known. The rule is: Never clear a dish until everyone is done, unless the patron asks.
Food is very good. Donuts are to die for. Pastas a bit too cheesy so ask for less cheese if you think that will be a problem.
Good pasta but nothing special. Salad, octopus and flatbread was all very average.
Everything was absolutely delicious. We were one of three tables on a Saturday evening, so I would say the restaurant is underrated. Great price point for excellent food - love the charcuterie selection and the Bolognese is delicious!
The food and wine selection is outstanding. Their offerings of cured meats and cheeses starts you off on a culinary journey you’ll be talking about for days. The homemade pasta, delicious flatbreads, and daily specials are sure to delight. I recommend the Tagliatelle al ragu Bolognese.
We couldn't have had a better time birthday celebration for my daughter and mom, so three generations of womenenjoying the evening. Food was fantastic, with lots of interesting things to try--all of them good. Rosted beets, charred carrots, braised pork shank, mushroom risotto, eggplant appetizer. Just delifiois,. I wish I remembered the waiters name-friendly, fun, and a great guide. Go!
Always reliably excellent food. Porchetta antipasto was delicious. The homemade tagliatelle bolognese was amazing. Fish cooked perfectly. Attentive service. We love Poscol's.
Every time we come to Houston from Austin, Vinoteca is on our list of must do's. This was our first time in the new location, and it was great to see that it still had the same comfort/home feeling. The food as always was wonderful. The bread is almost worth the trip. Our server, Jairo, was terrific.
We eat out a lot!...Not really sure why this restaurant rated so high!? About the only thing semi-ok was the Anti-Pasta? VERY THIN cut/small pieces of meat & cheese. The waitress did not explain how the menu "worked". Very few items on menu; very expensive for what they were. Off menu board (s)...not impressive. (We order 3 different dishes to give fair try). The anti pasta was tasty; but, would not know what was what unless staff was over pointing to each and naming? How would you order again?
Tedious, and not impressive.
Go for glass of wine and conversation; that is the highest value for this particular dining experience.
Always creative well prepared cuisine. Pastas are amazing. Great wine list.
I finally found a good Italian restaurant in Houston. Vinoteca Poscol has excellent, in-house made pastas along with delicious sauces. The restaurant itself is not loud. You can actually have a pleasant meal and good conversations with your dining companions...a rare find in Houston. The service is attentive but not over-bearing and there's no rush to get you out so the table can be turned over. It actually reminded me of restaurants I'd been to in Italy. Really like this place. Can't recommend it enough
The pheasant ravioli special was superb!!
Down the street from Da Marco (same owner), and down the price range too, but the food is just as tasty. Just terrific food, very nice staff, and did I mention terrific food? The chicken cacciatore is the best anywhere, and the tagliatelle with meat sauce is just as good. Oh, I’m getting hungry just thinking about it...
Awesome service and meats/cheese
we feel right at home and well cared for. the staff know us now and we always feel special
Dependably excellent food. Our favorites are the schiacciattas, homemade pastas, pesce (fish dish), and anything with the veal sauce. And Nancy is the best waiter in the world!
This was my first time to visit and was very impressed with the great selection of Italian wines and the food selection. We were able to order small plates to share and was impressed by the portions of the their daily special flat bread appetizer we chose. The wine selection was wonderful since visiting Italy this past year to see many wines from different regions and was able to have a glass of a great Barolo. My friend had suggested this place for my birthday dinner in August and I wanted to try it before hand. They have a private room upstairs and that can set 10 -50 people so this may be the place to come. Service was awesome and our server, Jado was very knowledgeable in the wine selections and chose us several glasses of great vino. One of the dish choices was the Harry's Bar and if you have been to Italy, this is one of the places you have to visit. Overall, Poscol was great food and vino and we will be back soon. Jado was a great server and very prompt with our food and checking on us to make sure we were taken care of.
Noise prevented all conversation other than shouting. Not a serious restaurant for serious diners with grownup conversation
superb experience once again, spectacular pappardelle with pheasant, excellent cold cuts and cheeses, octopus and rapini with anchovies. As good as in Italy!
Stopped by after a Saturday afternoon Astros game and came away big fans. Small but comfortable room with outstanding service. Nice wine list with fair prices and really good food. Since it's part of the Chef Marco Wiles group that's not surprising but we thought the mushroom risotto was the best we've had in Houston. We are self-anointed risotto "hunters" and have been fortunate enough to try this simple but tricky to prepare dish at restaurants from Hong Kong, San Diego, Amsterdam, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, New York, Saint Petersburg, Russia & Grindelwald, Switzerland and my wife and I believe Vinoteca Poscol's risotto holds its' own with all of them.
One of the best places in town.
