“Great food. Award winning wine list. Intimately well-paced events”
I was told that they would cook the bison loin and duck medium rare but when it arrived to the table it was rare, I ate it without a problem but my girlfriend did not eat anything because of this, we waited about 20 minutes and the server was nowhere near us so I started eating because I was hungry but $280. 00 for raw meat and bad service, I learned my lesson I could have gone to gratzi instead or the black pearl
It was nice, service was good, food was better, wine and alcohol list was extensive. The one thing that was just okay was the table set up, the one long table near the entry was annoying.
Only downsides were our tables proximity to the waitstaff area of the bar (noisy) and the super fancy wording of the menu.
Everything was very nice
Nice food. A bit of an odd menu. Small portions for a big price.
So so food
We had an amazing dinner, our waiter knew our wine preferences from previous visits, was attentive but not hovering! We will be back!
Incredible food and service, wonderful place for a date. Try the smoked duck breast!
We had a lovely Valentines Day dinner. The food service and ambience were excellent. Only negative was background music was too loud
Wonderful Valentines Day Dinner! Awesome atmosphere, food & service!!!
Excellent food and atmosphere, wine selection was great also!
As always, Vinology didn’t disappoint. Food was awesome, wine list is superb and our waitress, Katherine, was a delight. This is a great place for every day dining or special occasion.
Took my date out to eat here for our first date. Everything from reservations to the bill was amazing. Thank you for helping us create an amazing memory together.
I recommend with reservations. The food was mixed with the beautiful cheese board and the tasty flat breads (artichoke one was really good) being better then the entrees which cost 3x as much. The Parisian gnocchi where almost inedible (a pile of mush) and shepherds pie was dry and unappealing. The $42 fish was dry and not warm when served. I would recommend Vinology for apps, flatbread and a nice glass of wine but go elsewhere for a full meal.
Vinology has a well considered wine list that I appreciate. The fact that many entrees can be ordered as smaller portions makes it possible to enjoy a meal as a collection of small plates and more broadly to sample dishes available. The last two times I've been there I was favorably impressed by some dishes being served in a style of presentation that I would call "deconstructed." This is where the elements of a dish might be served presented as parallel lines of ingredients on a plate. This enables the diner to more fully savor the separate ingredient that make up the final flavor of a dish. We find that the wait staff is well trained and is focused on making your experience as positive as possible. It's obvious that they work had for you. The noise level is tolerable so that you can have an easy conservation at your table. These factors combine for me to say that Vinology is a satisfying, interesting venue and a value place to dine.
The staff is very nice for us, to arrange special table for our situation..!
That helped us a lot, and food & wine is very lovely.
Anyway, we have enjoyed warm hospitality from this place, I can strongly recommend the place!
Everything was just ok.
Nice ambiance, delicious food. One person’a entre only has one of 2 filet so she has to ask the waiter to bring her the other half of her entree.... that was kinda lame, but just a mistake. Everything else was great! Delicious wine. Even the salad was just perfectly assembled that it looked like a work of art when he set it in front of me.
I love this place. I really like that it is not super loud, as many places are these days. I have only a 4 for ambience because we were not sitting in one of the really nice booths that they have. Otherwise, this was fine.
Fabulous; most delicious chicken! Great happy hour too!
Food and service were absolutely fantastic! Our server was so knowledgeable about both the food and wine menus, and offered some great suggestions for selections/pairings. The Brie is amaaaazing, and the Poulet Rouge was absolutely fantastic, as were the short rib tacos. We will definitely return next time we’re in A2!
We had dinner at Vinology this Saturday. Like at many of the fine restaurants in Ann Arbor, the experience was uneven. For example, out of 5 dishes, 3 of them met this foodie's standard for delicious. Baked brie was simple but perfectly executed and delicious; bison was tasty and perfectly cooked and the accompaniments had complex flavor and texture that really elevated the dish. Chocolate lava cake was actually a touch underdone (VERY melty and not hot on the inside), but the flavor was perfect and I would eat it again. Two other dishes I would skip next time: black cod was oversalted but otherwise the dish was bland, and short rib tacos were dry and nothing notable aside from the generous portion of meat. Our server was very nice and accommodating to our timeline (we were trying to make a show) and to our substitution requests, but he did not know details about the food or wine that I would expect for a restaurant in this category.
Both our appetizers and entrees were not only delicious, but creative. Also, the wine list lived up to the name of restaurant.
We love Vinology. The food is awesome and the wait staff friendly and competent. We went with our granddaughter who lives in Ann Arbor first, now we are taking friends there for Saturday brunch. Hope to take more friends and relatives there in the future. We can’t say enough about the weekend brunch menu, except there’s too much to choose from!
Vinology has a great menu and wine list, very unique, and our server was passionate about wine and food which added to the overall experience. We started with a flight of 3 Austrian wines, a great way to experiment, and a couple of small plate dishes, the Cauliflower Canneloni, and Short Rib Tacos which were both delicious. We then split a small order of the Black Cod and went with a bottle of wine recommended by our waitress. I really can't say enough about the overall experience. My wife and I are looking forward to our next visit where we'll continue exploring the menu and wine list!
We had a party of 4 for dinner before a show at Kerrytown Concert Hall. Matt helped us navigate the happy hour specials, small plates and happy hour 1/2 glasses of wine. We ordered a couple of small plates and Matt introduced us to the 1/2 size dinners. None of us had experienced that as an option and found it to be a perfect compliment to all of the small plates we had already had. Great food. Fun menu. Thank you, Matt our #1 server.
The food was pretty good. The crowd was lively. Service was excellent and friendly.
Last minute decision for Restaurant Week and we were happy we went. The salmon entree was delicious and very attractively served. The lemon meringue dessert was scrumptious and creatively served. The salad selection was passable, rather watery and non-description dressing. Service was good, if a bit annoying. The server repeatedly used the first instead of second person pronouns when asking about our preferences (what would WE like for dessert, how were OUR cocktails) as though he was part of our party. Once is fine, but repeatedly? No.
But, we’ll still return. 🙂
A lovely Restaurant Week experience.
Our server was wonderful. So impressed that there were vegan selections offered for each course. I am not vegan but have vegan friends and know they struggle in restaurants. I had the vegan dessert because it sounded refreshing and it was absolutely delicious! We went during Restaurant Week but were not rushed in any way, and the menu selections were terrific and beautifully presented. I look forward to going back!!
I want to first make it clear that this is a positive review. I gave the restaurant "outstanding" star review although our evening was not perfect. We were seated in a booth next to two ladies that were excessively loud. Our server explained the ladies were frequent patrons and were celebrating. We asked to be moved to and were accommodated. I ordered the bison and my wife ordered the ribeye, and a bottle of tempranillo. My first bite of bison was gristle and the second bite was not much better. So I sent it back (I blame the buffalo not the restaurant) and ordered the ribeye (it was very good). Our server Catherine and the restaurant manager (missed his name) where more than gracious and understanding to make our imperfect visit a very pleasant experience. They went above and beyond to make our evening great.
We will make the 45 minute drive to dine again at Vinology (asking for Catherine to be our server) knowing we will have a pleasant evening, and will continue to do so until we get it perfect, and beyond. And if the couple seated next to us asks their server to be moved because we are too loud, we will have succeeded.
We dined at Vinology for NYE and experienced the set menu. The cod main dish was extraordinarily salty... not good. My wife’s filet was top notch however. The other food was fair or good with the exception of the terrific desserts. The service was mediocre. It felt like a rushed experience. With the relatively high cost of the night, it should have been unforgettable experience ... but it wasn’t. I can’t recommend Vinology for NYE.
Love this restaurant! Attentive staff with a great knowledge of the menu. The menu changes seasonally, and the menu always has interesting, yet tasty options (they use beets with many different dishes!). We went for a friend's birthday this time, and the overall experience was just fabulous.
We had a lovely evening celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary. The food, wine and service were top notch.
My family was in town, for Thanksgiving, and they are huge wine people. I thought Vinology would be perfect for them. My uncle ended up being annoying but the staff were wonderful and very patient. We had a delightful time.
Birthday. Service was not exceptional. Server only was attentive at beginning and then proceeded to be non communicative and very aloof
Went for brunch. The food was delicious. Drinks were good. Service was great. Its a cute, modern-rustic little restaurant. Can't wait to try their dinner menu.
We came for pre-show dinner. They were running a bit behind due to a large wedding party on lower level. They put a rush and comp'd our beverages, which we appreciated. Extensive wine list. Creative and delicious cuisine.
