It was a nice place, the food was delicious. Waygu sliders is delicious. The service was great and prices was reasonable.
We had the small cheese plate, a Classico flatbread pizza and a terrific bottle of Vermentino! Just loved everything! We ended the meal by sharing a piece of white chocolate blueberry cheesecake! YUM!
Good, relaxing, casual vibe. Want to return when the glass doors are open.
This is a lovely little cafe with excellent food, a good selection of wines, and upscale, contemporary architecture. Parking is on the street and very easy.
Very nice place to drink wine and enjoy delicious appetizers.
Another great meal! Love this restaurant in the heart of Valley Junction.
We had a nice night. Pricey for Valley Junction. Atmosphere is lovely and service was great. Popcorn is the best ever.
Vino209 is a hidden gem in the Historic Valley Junction area. The food and service is always delightful and is a great place to meet up with friends for a glass of wine or for a wine tasting. Highly recommend the Summer Stack for dessert!
Ample wine samples. Super delicious selection of cheeses and charcuterie. Absolutely love when the doors are open. Feel like I’m in Paris at a great local bistro.
Service was great! The chef brought the appetizer which was a great flair. The wine selection is extensive. Owner Kelly Sharp was friendly and inviting she has a fantastic rapport with guests. A Valley Junction must try!
Some dude was on his speaker phone when there were only 3-4 tables of people. I felt that was rude. I could not even hear the music. Other than that, everything was great.
Great place- wish they would have some music playing in the background, service is superb.
Thank you for visiting Vino209. I'm sorry the music was not playing, typically we have light jazz or some other easy listening music. We do have live music on Tuesdays from 6-8. Hope you will stop by again.
I wish there was a "maybe" on the question of whether I'd recommend Vino209 to a friend or not. The wine selection was good - if you want to spend a lot of money. There aren't lower-price options for a glass of wine, and paying $24-$36 for two average-size pours of wine isn't something we're interested in on a regular basis. Also, I think there was only one option for Chardonnay. The food was overpriced for what you got, but our salads were good and of high quality. We also ordered a cheese plate to share, and it was not at all what we expected - a few water crackers, a small pile of white cheddar chunks, and a tiny bowl of grapes for $9. The atmosphere is fun and vibrant, and the open doors to the street are a nice touch. I really want to support local dining options, so I wish they'd offer more budget friendly wines and offer larger portions of food for the cost.
Food is an incredible value! Love that the menu changes seasonally and that Chef comes out and mingles with guests. Excellent wine selection. Highly recommend.
Thanks for the nice feedback - can't want to serve you again!
Very impressed! Food & wine was excellent. Only suggestion is add music to defer the loudness of the patrons & perhaps dim the lighting a touch.
It was a very enjoyable, well kept place. Food and wine was great tasting
I found this restaurant on open table but the restaurant is not able to register / sign in for points
What a hidden gem. Love the wine selection. Great service. Great food. Will be back!
We’ve been several times and plan to go back. Enjoy it immensely every time!
Great overall experience at Vino 209! Great variety on the menu, food looked appetizing! Friendly staff!
Amazing as always. Quick lunch with a friend. Salad was fresh and just the right size. Friendly service.
Quaint spot, great for a girls night out or a date! This was a first visit for several in our group, and it was very enjoyable. Four of us arrived at 6:15 on a Wednesday night ... place was lively and almost full. Thanks to our Open Table reservation, we were seated promptly at a table towards the back ... which was perfect for us. All the menu items we tried were very good (hummus, salads, soups, sandwiches, cheese boards ... and of course the wine)! We've all add Vino209 to our "places to go in West Des Moines" list!
The night started off on the wrong foot. They didn’t have our reservation, and we were told they don’t always get them from open table because the text is sent to the owner who doesn’t always remember to put it down. We told the server we based our choice to dine there on the happy hour available on Saturday night, and the menu listed on open table as well. Neither of which are correct. The prices are much higher once you get there. She left the table to tell the manager and then came back to take our order with no further mention of this. We were never approached by the manager regarding the different menu or our lost reservation which was disappointing. The portions for the pricing were small...we had a meat & cheese board ($28), bruschetta, buratta, as well as baked Brie and 2 bottles of wine. We ended up going next door for pizza afterwards. We were all excited to try a new girls night place but unfortunately it felt like a
First time for my friend and I and we loved it! Both commented that we would revisit and bring friends! Food was great and had some fun and unique touches! Happy to return!
1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad were very small (5 bites).
You cannot go wrong choosing this eatery. Perfect portions, perfect value, perfect service, delightful ambience. Highly recommend! 🍷
A little known gem in the heart of the Valley Junction shopping district. Adorable, rustic ambiance. Great service. Salads, sandwiches and soups all solid. The wines are not served at proper temperature (reds should be below 60°F) but it’s an interesting wine list. Some good craft beers to choose from as well. We will definitely return!
We enjoyed meeting another couple at Vino209... the food was very good, and the wine was reasonably priced. The service was very good as well.
For a wine bar/restaurant, the evening lights need to be dimmed... it would make the entire experience far more comfortable and cozy. Not many people enjoy drinking wine in a brightly lit room, especially if it's a date night. :)
We were greeted warmly and had a terrific waitress. It was Restaurant week so we did that, but i think the true style of the cafe is more like a wine house woth really good shareable small plates. The chefis getting ready to have a new menu out for September. And the wines (and staff's knowledge of wines) is fantastic.
We came as a special occasion - our anniversary - but pretty sure we will come back often to enjoy some good wine.
The food and service at this young eatery are always on the mark! Highly recommend. Great place for lunch AND dinner.
It was restaurant week when we dined, so it may have been busier and louder than usual. All the surfaces are hard, so it may just be a louder spot. That worked for us as we just sat closer together to hear each other, but noted that we couldn't bring our parents (one wears a hearing aid). Our server seemed knowledgeable but stretched a little thin maybe. First glass of wine was room temperature, but she corrected that. I like the decor and cool vibe. Food was good. Definitely will return and try again.
Excellent lobster bisque. Good chicken salad on warm focaccia. Blood orange sorbet was a perfect ending
Cute little wine place with very good food! The food options aren’t elaborate so if you want a true dinner (ie entree type dishes) it’s probably not for you. We enjoyed the wine and sandwiches we ordered. The woman (I think owner) who waited on us was very friendly. The only thing that was not so great was the noise level - really loud. Overall, it was a good experience!
Great place and I would come back again and again.
Came on a Friday, so no happy hour. Would guess it would be good for a drink and nibble, but not dinner.
A pleasant wine cafe with limited menu...has potential.
This place offers a bright and inviting atmosphere for a drink and small plates before a show or a date. It's casual and comfortable, decorated with class and style. The wine selection is awesome. The food is perfect for getting together with friends. Staff is wonderful and attentive. Des Moines needs this funky joint!
