Vinny's Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Great as usual. This time I had the Sicilian rqabbit--a dish hard to find anywhere else. Big pieces of on-the-bone stweweed rabbit--a little like chicken, only tastier,--coooked with olives, celery and capers. It's pungent and tasty, unusual but delicious. One of my Vinny's favorites--also served at lunch. And with a side of angel-hair pasta with Vinny's unbelievably good marinara sauce--what could be better on a cold winter night? And the service is tops!
Food is always awesome here. Found this place through open table and have been back 3 times since
Pastas are freshly made, and sauces truly Sicilian. Brocciole perfect.
Small space which can get noisey.
Waitress refused to make cappuccino for us (a must for Italian restauranrs) because she was alone on shift and it takes too much time.
Other than that disappointment, all else was great
My third time eating here since I found it in open table. Small place. Not a fancy space, but food is authentic. I had the chicken saltilimbica. Was very good.
In short, I keep going back. I wouldn't if it were not good food at good price. Just don't expect fancy service in a posh setting. It's a neighborhood spot
Was at Vinny's last week to celebrate a freind's birthday (her choice of restaurant), and everyone loved it. Then went back just for some delicious comfort food. The manicotti wasn't on the menu, but it was available if you asked for it. It's the best manicotti I've ever had, and it's a mystery why it's not on the regular menu. But ask and you might receive. Deeply flavorful and creamy and in a generous portion, it's fabulous!
Vinny's is a wonderful neighborhood, casual restaurant, but don't be fooled by the overtly casual atmosphere. The food is really great and you get a huge plate of food - such value rarely exists anymore. On my most recent visit, we had such a nice server (Nancy?) and I was happy to see that the fellow at the pass was someone who's been there for a number of years... that's a good sign.
Vinny's never disappoints. Hearty, delicious, authentic Italian. Generous portions, casual atmosphere, friendly, attentive staff who make sure you're not thirsty AND you're happy with your food.
The arancini are wonderful, eggplant special delicious and big enough for leftovers the next day. Anything I've ever had here is amazing and the seafood always fresh.
Don't risk not getting a table - definitely make a reservation on a weekend night.
My second time to vinnys in 2 weeks. Took my best friend. He has been craving rabbit for a long time. This place serves rabbit Sicilian style. I had chicken saltilimboca. Was super.
Over all was less impressed than the first time. But was very good experience.
Service was ok. Was half way through the meal and had to remind our server for our initial drink order.
All in all, a great value for portions and quality. I will return again.
Birthday lunch. Parents took me. I chose this restaraunt based on open table reviews. Certainly lives up to reputation. I had a brocciole over fusilli that was the best I ever had. Didn't need a knife. Tender. Tasty. Sauce was perfect Sicilian style sauce. Perfectly made. Low acid and not overly sugared. Mom got chicken. Dad got veal. Dad said was tender and made perfect.
Cannoli was perfect crunch and light riccotta.
Only complaint was the antipasto salad didn't have much meat. Sicilian antipasti has a better balance of meat to lettuce.
Prices were reasonable.
I will go back for sure
Vinnie's is one of my absolute favorite places to eat. When I am not going out for a meal, I pick up a small packaged dinner of eggplant parmesan, pasta and meatballs, etc to take home. The home-made pasta is exceptional and there is a neighborhood feel that is comfortable and inviting. My friends from out-of-state always want to go to Vinnie's when they visit.
Had 6:45 reservations, table wouldn't have been ready until 7:30 at earliest so we opted to sit at the bar, which we don't mind doing but some might not like that. Other than that potential headache avoided the food was good quality Italian cooking, we do same at home every night so we knew that we probably wouldn't be blown away but we were pleasantly satisfied . Also felt good not to be the one cooking. Littlenecks appetizer was tasty & the veal osso buco was very good, in addition Kate pours a generous glass of wine which is always a good thing. We'll be back. Good hearty meal at a fair price & as stated previously taste was there, I'll recommend it to friends.
Second time this week I went to Vinny's for comfort food. This time one of the specials was the manicotti, which isn't on the regular menu (though I was told you could ask for it). It was the best manicotti I ever had. The red sauce was deeply flavorful, the pasta perfectly cooked, the filling really tasty. It was fantastic. Guess what I'm going to ask for the next time I go to Vinny's!
We go you Vinny's frequently and it never disappoints . Great food , hearty proportions, and very comfortable atmosphere. Do not be put off when you enter. You need to walk through an Italian mini mart before entering the formal but casual dining area. We love their Haddock Fra Diablo and Beef Braciole, chicken Marsala, home made sausages, veal and Osso bucco - everything we have tried .
I had heard about Vinnys for many years and finally made the effort to get there. First, the worst part of going to Vinnys is trying to find a place to park. It is located on a busy street with other establishments and on a Saturday night you have to luck into a parking space. That said it provides an opportunity to walk off your meal afterwards which is a good thing. The restaurant is definitely a neighborhood place which looks like something out of a fifties movie set. The menu is varied, with all the standard Italian items you would expect. The wait staff will tell you that they will prepare it how you want it if it is not on the menu. I had the scallops over homemade fusilli fra diavolo which was not on the menu but they gladly accommodated me. Maria our server was excellent, new the menu and was also very accommodating. The food was very good,as close to a home cooked meal as you might find in a neighborhood place. It was reasonably priced for the quality and allowed us an upgrade on the wine choice. We took no prisoners but the portions were more than satisfying. All in all a great casual dining experience. I will definitely return.
As good or better than any restaurant in the North End ! Food was terrific... real down to earth Italian food...pasta; seafood, chicken ...all made to order. Great service and hostess. Restaurant is unpretentious and fun. Highly recommend; can't wait to good back
All the appetizers and entrees were phenomenal! The braciole over home-made fusilli pasta was excellent, as was the shrimp over home-made mafalda pasta, as well as the rabbit dish. The calamari salad was also excellent, as was the tiramasu. The serving staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. The only disappointment of the evening was the home-made cannoli -- worst that I have ever consumed anywhere at anytime! The filling was not only tasteless it had the consistency of shaving cream! It's a shame because as our party of five would attest everything else on the menu was excellent! How this cannoli debacle made its way on the menu is unfathomable! Remove this one black mark and the menu gets a perfect score from me!
