Vinny's Ristorante
Valentine’s Day Dinner
Seeing old friend
So we heard about Vinnys and we’re doing a quick long weekend visit to Boston from Florida. Getting our annual winter dose of cool weether. I made a Valentines evening reservation and we were in for a treat. It was in what looked like a scary part of town. The old place is on a corner not so appealing but once inside and seated on time the owner and staff were attentive and friendly. And the food was awesome. We weren’t rushed and didn’t feel like they were pushing us out the door for our table. Great family restaurant and I will go back when we return. Lots of finer dining in Boston but this place is worth giving a try if you so dare. Try the tiramisu it’s killer. Thanks again to all there. Ciao
Love Vinny's! The food is always top quality, abundant, and the homemade pasta is incredible!! In all of our visits, we've only had one dish we wouldn't recommend, the osso buco was very bland tasting although very tender. My husband was eating off of all our plates, wishing he ordered traditional Italian rather than the veal osso buco. He didn't leave hungry but he definitely wished he had ordered something with more flavor. I highly recommend the haddock stir fry (in the garlic sauce or red sauce)--I never order anything else (it's that good!) We'll be going back--it's a wonderful place with wonderful food!
Best Haddock stir fry over angel hair pasta I have had in my 60 years .....fantastic!!!
After a bit of a search, I was able to locate a Sicilian restaurant, Vinny's at Night AKA Vinny's Ristorante. The front of the property is an old-fashioned Italian deli. Walk down a short corridor and you are in the Ristorante. Food was excellent with a decidedly different flare from the usual pasta helpful and attentive. The restaurant is supposed to be not far from Sullivan Square Station - too long a walk for me but good for someone who is used to walking.
It was practically the coldest night of the year so far, so what could be better than going to Vinny's for veal osso bucco. Succulent veal in a rich brown sauce with celery and carrots, risotto on the side (you can also get it in the same dish) or pasta, with great warm bread. Good for the body and the soul.
Service is great. It's fun to be in a resataurant where everyone seems to be having a great time.
waitress took our order people were seated next to us few minutes passed waitress took their order after a little time passed she brought out their food they finished eating and left then our food was brought out cheese burnt black on my chicken parmesan wife ordered seafood dish told me later it was not fresh I was told to come here by a friend hello boccellis in medford so very disappointed
Vinny's is a classic neighborhood gem. Come for the old-school Itallian food. Stay because the old-school Italian food is AMAZING. Big portions. They do not skimp! Lovely staff. We'll be coming back again and again!
Vinnies never disappointments. Its a sub shop with tables in the back—nothing fancy. Food is great, price is right and the staff is friendly and efficient. I highly recommend the eggplant special with the mafalda pasta. The sauce is outstanding. Bathroom facilities are a little sketchy, but that’s my only negative.
Another great night at Vinnies. Food as always was fantastic and the waitress was wonderful...Thanks...
As usual, great food and service. meal consisted of salad, seafood extravaganza and lemon chicken. All had " homemade " taste and were excellent. excellent service and very, very nice staff
Vinnie's is a hidden jewel with authentic and delicious Italian food to rival any restaurant in the North End. It's lack of atmosphere gives it atmosphere. It is cosy and intimate. From the arancini to the homemade pasta and veal piccata to the expresso martinis, Vinnie's hits the mark!
This restaurant is a hidden gem in Somerville. To the unknowing customer it appears to be a sub shop. But at the back is a small eat-in restaurant that serves some of the best homemade Italian food in the Boston area. Each meal prepared fresh—no pre-prepared here. Homemade pasta and amazing meat sauce are spectacular. This is a place you must try—an incredible meal in a place you might pass if walking by the “sub shop”.
Just be prepared to wait for your food. Everything made to order. Worth the wait.
Love the food at this place and have been there lots of times but second time in a row that we’ve made a reservation and Vinny’s has checked us in long before our reservation time and then not had a table for us when we got there. This time we are in the take out area. Told staff and they said they would figure out what happened and let us know. They never did. Super disappointing
im a regular here and found this place through open table extra point tables. been coming back ever since. the restaurant us small in the back of a pizza place, so it lends to being busy and noisey. but, you come here fir the food. Sicilian style dishes. i had lasagna this time. Outstanding
The food and service was exceptional
Great Italian food. Throw back restaurant from the winter hill days for sure. Everyone knows they r going to have an awesome meal.
We are regulars at Vinny’s and are normally treated so well (and tip well). Recently, there’s been a high volume of customers (happy for them) but the services lacks in return. I made reservations most recently, planning ahead, and yet still waited 15 additional minutes. Once seated at a wobbly table in the corner, our food and drink orders were rushed. We requested bread as usual which never came, and were never asked if our meal was okay or if our drinks should be refreshed. Very disappointed and hope they figure it out now that they’re busy.
We really enjoyed our first trip to Vinny’s. The food and drinks were amazing. Homemade, authentic Italian cooking at its best! We will definitely be back!
Vinny's is a "for real" place - which applies to its storefront location, its unpretentious atmosphere, the menu of authentic Italian specialities, the generous portions and pours, and the down-to-earthness of the serving staff and everything else about this wonderful place.
Our reservation was for 7:45 and our food was served at 9:30. This place is very disorganized. The seats are packed close together but I guess that is what gives it a certain charm. They give you plenty of nice (white) bread and The food was pretty good but really not worth the wait.
Been here many times. The food is very good. Luv homemade fusili and mafalde
Frequent diners at Vinny's. Made the mistake of going on "Head of Charles" weekend....VERY crowded. Waited over one hour for entrees. Staff did best the they could...very affable. Food as always was excellent
This was our second time at Vinny's. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and it is not too expensive. We are very glad we discovered Vinny's!!
Vinny's is a neighborhood gem. This is red sauce, Sicilian cuisine, so the staples you'd expect are here but the fact that they have freshly made pasta and fresh, never frozen meat elevates this cuisine to its authentic roots. We ended up chatting with a couple that has been coming here for over 30 years and they said that Vinny sources his seafood and meats locally, they are never frozen, so the quality is great. The sauce is made fresh daily and it's pure joy to eat. The portions are huge, which is nice to have some to take home for lunch or dinner the next day. The atmosphere is cozy but can be a bit cramped but it makes for nice conversations with your neighbors. We will definitely be back. Keep in mind, it's highly recommended to have reservations Friday and Saturday nights.
At first look we thought it was just a take out/pizzeria but then saw that there were tables out back. Good food, good quantities and great service!
Absolutely love Vinny's. Fabulous food (homemade pasta and sauce to die for), fun atmosphere, casual, great service.
One of our favorite Friday Harbor restaurants. Always good Italian food. Good service. Great location
Wonderful service and amazing food! Great little spot!
Growing up in an italian household I don't usually eat italian out. (Never as good as Moms) I am glad I chose to this time around. The food was very good and the portions were very large. Most people had doggy bags. Highly recommend!
We eat at Vinnie's one every month or two and typically have a great experience. On this occasion, we experienced poor service and very long wait times for our food. When we were sat, we quickly placed our order since we typically get the same thing. We then waited 20 minutes for bread, which we only got after we asked for it, and we were not given butter with it as others had around us. Our appetizer came shortly afterwards, which is a long time to wait for an app.
We then continued to wait for our entree, with our waiter only coming to re-fill our water once. The hostess was more attentive than our waiter with refilling our water and seeing if we need anything. After waiting an hour, we still hadn't received our food and our waiter had only come by once to re-fill water, no even asking hour the appetizer was (it was lukewarm). It was then that the hostess informed the group behind us that there was a table of 11 downstairs so the food was taking longer to come out. This shouldn't have affected our service since our waiter wasn't involved.
While waiting we asked for more bread, and the waiter brought it with no oil or butter. We asked for some, and he never came back with it. When we finally got our entree after an hour and fifteen minutes, we had to ask the hostess for a bowl to put mussel shells in since our waiter didn't provide one, and my entree did not have any sun dried tomatoes as stated in the menu and tasted significantly different than usual. After a different waiter cleared our plates, we had to ask yet another waiter for the check since ours never attended to us. When we finally paid for dinner, we had spent a total of an hour and 45 minutes there for dinner, mostly just waiting and not being attended to. We love Vinny's, but this service was inexcusable. We will be sure to request a different waiter the next time we visit for dinner.
The unfortunate thing about this restaurant is the parking..good luck finding a spot, mostly metered spots and residence parking only.
Awesome love this restaurant. Staff are very nice and accommodating. Food is always delicious.
Staff was friendly and provided good service. Unfortunately the food was terrible. Maybe it was a bad night but based on what we ate we crossed this restaurant off our list
Delicious food but the noise level was deafening. Stick with the old time Italian specialties
I had been meaning to try Vinny's for a long time and wasn't let down! Big portions of comfort food. Just what I wanted! Glad I made a reservation as it was busy still after 8 pm on a Saturday.
One of my favorites . Service and food are always great
Great restaurant. There is nothing not to like about Vinny's......food, service, casual atmosphere, etc. Our favorite Italian restaurant. Simply terrific home style food...much better than the North End
