We dined after the theater (10:00 pm). The restaurant was almost empty, but we did not feel hurried. Excellent pasta dishes and Tiramisu. Very good service, they made us feel special.
This was our first time there - Excellent food and service!
Been a while since we've been here but still good as ever
Our server, Caren, was excellent - very knowledgeable about the menu and food prep. She was also very helpful in choosing our entrees. The service was very attentive from all of the staff. The food was quite good. My wife and I each had different pasta dishes, one with seafood and one with short ribs. They were both excellent.
Everything was great. There were a few times we wanted our server and couldn’t find him.
Very nice dinner. We have been dining there for decades. The food is always good and the same with the service. With many restaurants to visit in Chicago, it is alway good to return to Vinci.
Went for Valentine’s day. Portions were small and relatively bland. Food seemed high quality, and they have lots of gluten free options, so that’s a plus. Waiter never checked on us u til meals were finished, but he seemed busy so nothing against him.
Very accommodating to allergy sensitivities. Highly recommended
Food is overpriced for mediocre quality
Pre theater dining. Food was delicious. Service exceptional. I’ll be back
The food is always wonderful at Vinci and the service is great too!
This is our favorite Go-To spot before or after a play at Steppenwolf. The food is predictably good and the menu varied.
Vinci always performs; the food is terrific; the service terrific; the ambiance terrific!
We can count on Vinci for a superb experience from start to finish!
Vinci is a wonderfully reliable meal right near our favorite theater. The food is always good, the value always excellent. This particular dinner was during restaurant week and the value was extraordinary.
Best place to go before or after a play
very good food and very good service
They were completely overwhelmed by the pre-theater crowd tonight
We decided to eat here prior to an 8pm show at the Royal George Theater. I made a reservation for 6:15pm to give us plenty of time so we wouldn't have to rush. Unfortunately, that didn't work out very well. We waited 20 minutes before a waiter came to our table. It was 6:50p when we got the wine we ordered, and by 7:30pm our food still had not arrived. We had to complain to the manager and that's when everyone jumped into action, but it was too late. We had to rush to eat and ran out the door at 7:55pm for our 8pm show. The food was good but we only had a few minutes to eat it plus the horrible service. Would not recommend based on my experience, at least if you have tickets to one of the nearby shows.
Pre-theater crowd was quite big and the service was not really quick enough to have a relaxed meal. It took ~ 10 minutes to be seated for our reservation and another 10 before the server took our order. The table next to us had to track down the server to get their salads, which in the end turned out to be the wrong order.
The menu was interesting, and while the food is good enough there is nothing special here that would make me inclined to recommend the restaurant even if the service were not an issue.
We were not seated at the "high" seats, but that is not a problem. We had a nice table. The place was packed and that made the service a tad bit slow. But the food was exceptional!
I got the Squid Ink Taglierini. The flavor was good but the calamari was rubbery and the pasta was over done
We went during Restaurant Week. The food was very tasty and the portions were large. The service was outstanding. It was our anniversary and they brought us a sweet dessert wine.
Restaurant week dinner:. I had salmon, cooked just right, wife had chicken also cooked properly. Portions were large. Salmon was about 8 inches long. Appetizer eggplant was delicious. I'd definitely go back. It did get busier when we were ready to leave and my only issue was the time it took to get the check closed out.
Fabulous dinner. Great value for 2 courses and glass of wine. Big eaters, portions are big
The menu requests to tell your waiter of any dietary restrictions. My wife was doing Whole 30 and requested her potato be cooked any way just without butter. They said they could not do that. Not only did the waiter not offer her a substitute he did not make any adjustment to the price of her meal. It also was $5 for soda water. The manager also never stopped by to ask us how our food and experience was. For all the choice in Chicago, we won't go back to this place which is a shame. We had high hopes it would be a nice local spot for us to revisit.
First time in a long time since I’ve been here and can only say it exceeded every expectations and... great menu for the gluten-free.!
The Vinci wine dinner is my favorite. They take really good care of our food allergies too.
We eat at Vinci when we attend Steppenwolf Theatre. We always have very good food. Luis provides fine service. I especially enjoyed the sauce on the veal medallions. It was light, and reminiscent of shallots and red wine. We look forward to our next visit to Vinci. We can highly recommend dining here.
Food was great! Service was attentive!
Always delicious food and fabulous service! Will definitely be back!!
I really enjoyed the salmon dish at Vinci and my husband enjoyed his spaghetti bolognese. The atmosphere is lively. Perfect for a pre theater meal!
Service caters to the pre-theater crowd. Quick friendly service, no frills (water is already in your glass - you don't get asked "sparkling or still"). Some diners wearing sweatshirts. Appetizer on table in under 5 minutes. So, not the right choice for an elegant date night. BUT, the food is amazing. Will DEFINITELY be back for a more casual meal as I could eat that eggplant appetizer every day!
Very pleasant waiter with great suggestions
Was extremely sick after eating there. Bread was very dry, not fresh, pasta was soggy and short rib in the parpadelle was very tough. Overall a very poor experience with the quality of the food. Would never return.
I wanted so much to like Vinci, but found myself quite let down. I will say first and foremost that the service was excellent; they were constantly re-filling our glasses/cleaning the table, and the entire waitstaff was very kind. Unfortunately, my positive impressions stop there: the decor left much to be desired (somewhat kitschy and worn-looking) and the food varied from average (the arancini) to inedible (the cheesecake, though the server was kind enough to take it off the bill). The homemade pastas were okay at best, but definitely not the caliber I'd hoped for. I am sorry to say that we won't be returning.
New Years Eve
We chose Vinci due to it’s proximity to the Royal George theater . Our reservation was honored although it was very quiet at 6:00 . Our server was excellent and we took many of his recommendations. We enjoyed the pizza with squash and mushrooms also , the squid ink pasta . The ambience is extremely low key. If you are looking for quiet spot this is the place.
Vinci always has an interesting menu and intriguing specials.
The baby eggplant appetizer is outstanding.
Staff are welcoming and attentive.
This is a great pre-theater dinner place especially since the staff pace everything so well and the food is always excellent.
Great meal. The food is consistently fabulous. Service could not be exceeded. Ambiance is very inviting.
Fabulous food and service. This was a birthday celebration and everything was wonderful. Waiter was funny and helpful and very accommodating. Will go there again!
