   My family and I wanted to check out a new Italian spot for a nice Saturday evening dinner. I scoured google looking for restaurants in the Freehold area that had decent reviews. I landed on Vincent’s and was pleased with the grade they received, I booked a reservation for the four of us. We arrive at the restaurant five minutes prior to our reservation and head in. We are greeted and I informed them of our reservation. I was told to standby - about five minutes goes by and I’m asked again if I’m being helped, I again informed them of the reservation and was told to wait a few more minutes. I was then asked if I didn’t mind being seated outside, it was cloudy and I did not want to chance getting poured on, especially with the kids. I inquired if there was an issue with our reservation and was told a first communion party ran over their time and caused the delay. I completely understood and had no problem waiting. The large group was seated in the main area which I thought was the only are for seating. Another couple came in and was immediately seated in an area I was unaware of. This peaked my interest - a server came out and asked if I wanted a table inside and I agreed, he said he’ll get the table ready asap. To keep it short - the soda machine must have been down because the drinks were completely flat. The appetizers we ordered could not have been fresh - I’ve had an abundance of calamari and baked clams in my life, these dishes seemed as if they were reheated leftovers from the huge party that just ended. The main entrees were decent - but at that point, an hour into our stay, we all wanted to leave as soon as possible. My wife enjoyed her chicken and the chicken francese I ordered was good. Again, I was speed eating so we would could feed the girls and head home. The kids had raviolis which were decent. The ricotta was also dry and the sauce was minimal. I never want to come off as negative - but for a Saturday and being priced over average, I expected more.

   We always have enjoyed our dinner at Vincent’s and have been going on a regular basis. This time it wasn’t as good. The quality of the branzino wasn’t nearly as good as it has been. My wife had the veal artichoke dish which was tough and tasteless. Very disappointing!!

   This was our first visit to Vincent’s. We tried the clams oregano’s and ahi tuna as appetizers. There were at least eight entrees on the menu I wanted to try. I picked the chicken valdastana. Outstanding, is the only word I can use to describe this dish. Can’t wait to go back there.

   Moved to NJ 2 years ago and had not found a outstanding Italian restaurant after eating at many in the Englishtown area. There are good one with good food, but this restaurant was outstanding in all categories. Monday and Tuesday they offer a prix fixe $29.95 3 course dinner that was delicious. Checkout the prix fixe menu, everything excellent. We were greeted by Vinnie at the door, later to discover he was the owner, and our enjoyable evening took off from there.

   Vincent has love of the food and restaurant and you can tell when you taste the food he makes. He puts a lot of effort into his menu. He makes the best vodka sauce and we have tried at least 10 others in this area! BYOB and they also offer alcohol too.

   I had a 6:15 reservation upon arriving they said we would have to wait 10 minutes (ok no problem) Then we see them setting up a table in the middle of the floor near where all the waiter pass and in close proximity to a door to the outside. Apparently they had a party going on in the second room and didn't have enough seating for regular customers (with reservations). Some kept opening the door and we would get a draft on our backs every time and was very uncomfortable to the point my 86 yr old mother had to move and I had to put my coat back on.. I asked to speak to a manager and they told me it would be a few minutes. Then someone locked that door and put a portable heater behind me which I couldn't feel and just said to me we locked the door. After our meal I told the waiter the manager never came and spoke to me. When the manager finally came he said he did speak to me (he told me he lock the door) that's not speaking to me that's telling me something. Needless to say there is more but I am out of space. I ate with my coat on the entire meal. I don't think I will be going back they should never have accepted my reservation if they didn't have room for my party of 3 instead of putting up a table where there shouldn't be one.

    I had a reservation for 4 people and the doors were locked- place closed.… we will try to reschedule.
