Third year return during our annual ski trip. Rock fish, pheasant and pork chop very good. Service good. Only disappointment was the bread and dipping sauces. The bread used to be amazing. This time very dry as if it sat out all day. It was kind of a sad different way to start the meal off.
Vin 48 is one of those restaurants that makes you want to go to the Michelin people and shake them hard to try to get them to understand that great food in the USA exists beyond New York, DC, Chicago, California. In an easy, casual atmosphere you will find astonishingly creative, brilliantly conceived and beautifully presented food and a wine list to match.
You can’t go wrong on a menu which presents a wide variety of plates, both small and large, which play with your taste buds and expectations in a delightful and brilliant way. Canonization should go to the chef for the beet salad alone, which delightfully pushes far from the dreary cliche of beet hunks, greens, walnuts and goat cheese into a sea of flavor, crunch, and savory deliciousness.
Kudos to everyone associated with this delightful restaurant, except the architect and designer, who seem to have forgotten that having to shout over your food and drink (particularly in the bar area) simply is disrespectful of he customer, the chef and the sommelier.
As always, delicious, and the service, thanks to Anna Lisa, great. Vin48 is popular with locals and visitors alike and rarely, if ever, disappoints. Lots of small plates and a few large plates on the menu. Also, there is excellent curated selection of wines by the glass. So the bottom line is you get to try many different plates and wines. Try the pork cheek and the goat on the winter menu.
My husband, my son and his girlfriend, and I are in Beaver Creek once a year over New Year’s. Since discovering Vin 48 two years ago, we have eaten there twice on each trip. Service is excellent and servers are expert at describing dishes. Dishes are creative. Sharing with the table is encouraged and is fun. Wine list is superb of course and half glasses available. Comfortable seating and low noise level in reataurant area. A favorite here!
Vin 48 is provides consistently good service and delicious food. They have original specials and many wines by the glass in both 6 oz and 3 oz size. If you are looking for Rockies gourmet, farm to table (when possible) with a low key and quaint setting, then Vin 48 is a must!
We ate here for New Year's Eve dinner. It was a prix fix menu- that was really great! The appetizer courses were awesome. The entree course was good- but not as amazing. Overall, this is likely the best New Year's meal we've had in the Vail/Beaver Creek area. Great wine list and sommelier. Highly recommended.
As always, the food was delicious and the extensive, excellently curated wine list making it impossible not to find the perfect bottle for any occasion. Fine dining in a casual setting with highest quality stemware to perfectly match your choice of wine. Ask to sit in Freddy's area. He's excellent. Professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. The pork cheek small plate is insanely delicious. Ask Greg which wine to pair with it. Also delicious is the fried octopus tentacle. Hard to find something that isn't very special on the menu. Only downside is the noise level. Not the place to go for quiet conversation or if you are hard of hearing. Go early if you want a quieter setting.
We found ourselves on thanksgiving day without a way to get dinner. Vin48 provided us with delicious options for dinner including some gourmet traditional turkey dinner. We mixed it up with several small plates and a pair of traditional thanksgiving entrees. We were very happy with it. Great wine selection as well.
The good: the wine list was good, and our server was very helpfully with pairing suggestions.
The bad: Not enough wait staff and the service suffered because of it.
Wines and food were overpriced.
The contrast between the menu advertised on Vin 48's website and the one we were given was very disappointing.
The biggest disappointment was the execution of what was on the current menu. Our food was extremely bland. My wife ordered the mussels (which she loves), and had trouble getting through them due to the lack of flavor.
I had their "leg of lamb" braised in red wine. What came out resembled poached lamb, in lamb soup. It was extremely bland and gamey. The waiter was put off by my disappointment, but did offer to take it back.
I then ordered the flat iron steak. This was more palatable, but was drenched in sauce, bland, and under cooked.
My wife and I travel quite a bit, and eat through our travels, and this was one of the worst food experiences to date. We contemplated ordering desert to cleanse our violated palates, but we decided to resort to hotel vending machine M&Ms instead.
We were in Colorado for the weekend and celebrating our engagement. The restaurant was very kind and treated us to a glass of champagne when we arrived. The service at the bar was wonderful. I enjoyed that you could have 3 ounce tastes of the line rather than full glasses as we were able to try more of their great by-the-glass selection.
Previous results led to another visit. Results were same - glad we came. Peach salad was made by another cook and was considerably different in presentation, but still good. Pork porterhouse grilled came out slightly pink (Bravo), but in my opinion, did not need the fried egg on top. Also served with stewed tomatoes with a zing! Short ribs were great, but again, presented differently.
An annual vacation visit was very enjoyable; Marco (server) was very pleasant, knowledgeable attentive. My dish was very light - a leg of lamb dish came with a light broth surrounding shredded lamb and other veggies (very pleasant). My partner had 7X Shortrib which had the traditional sauce and was very tender - outstanding.
