Mother's Day Menus & Specials
We will offer an enhanced Mother's Day Tea Brunch!
Out wedding dinner was here. It was perfect!
I came to Villon for high tea, we were seated in what seemed like a lobby area in chairs that were not intended or dining. If I sat all the way back in the chair I was 3 feet from the table. The table was barely large enough for two diners to have tea service at, with plates hanging over the edge. The service was ok, not very attentive, but I think that's fine for tea service as mostly people just want to chat. The food in the service was quite good, though I do think the tea sandwiches were sparing. The price listed on the menu did not reflect the final bill (on my companions menu the service we ordered was $50, on mine it was $60, and we were actually charged $65). Overall it was ok, but I won't be back.
We just came for drinks but they figured out that we have a birthday in our group and they sent us a really nice dessert for free. We were really happily surprised by this gesture. Great service and very classy place. We will definitely be back here.
Had dinner at Villon before watching Hamilton which was super convenient since it was just a block away. The ambiance was romantic and interior design was unique and very cool. I have a mild gluten allergy. The menu indicated gluten free and vegan dishes and staff made it easy to accommodate my dietary requirements. The service was excellent and are excited to go back again soon!
The evening was wonderful—the food, wine, service, and ambience were great. It is pricey, but definitely worth the splurge!
Stopped by during my over night in San Francisco during my road trip. The place is pretty up scaled, however I did show up in some shorts and a sweatshirt and wasn’t told anything. The staff was very friendly and was knowledgeable about the food and drinks on the menu. I ordered the ribs. OMG!! Amazing had to try another item. I ordered the Sablefish. Great! And I tried the shrimp agnolotti. The food will have you going back for more and more! I cannot recommend this more!! I’ve travel to 23 states and 10 countries and I’ve only ate at one other place I would recommend this much. Also, it will not hurt your wallet to eat here. Trust me, you are getting an wonderful meal!!
We loved the design of the room!! The food, our waiter Jim and the whole experience was very nice. I will be back!
We had such an amazing server made the meal such a great experience. The portions are very small, the food was very good
.quick lunch before Broadway show, good food and service
Lovely food and service
They menu needs translation as many dishes are pretentiously presented. The end result was often disappointing. Overall am expensive proposition and a bad value.
I love brunch at Villon! The Brussel sprouts with eggs and bacon gravy! YUM!!
Too noisy, food not very good and definitely overpriced. Staff wanted to seat us in a corner next to other diners when the restaurant was all but empty. Finally seated in a bit more private space and immediately, another party was seated right behind us. Obviously seating was for the staff, not the diners. Will never return.
The food here is really good. Everything we ordered was excellent. We had cod croquettes, some soup with slow cooked egg, sablefish, and chicken. The cocktail list has a large number of choices. That, however, may be a hit or miss.
The food at Villon was excellent. We ordered the Brussels sprouts as a side and it was so good we actually thought of ordering it for dessert as well. I had a glass of a house red - a Sangiovese that was more than drinkable. The ambience was great although the noise level was a bit high for my taste. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Our waiter was knowledgeable and was a clear fan of the restaurant. We'll be back.
The dapper atmosphere was exceptionally blended with a fantastic and honest service. The crew this evening was just elegant and respectful. Our server's knowledge of both the entree and drink menu was broad and delightful and talking about delightful: the food! The food was over the top and exquisite. All of this takes place in such a gorgeous and stylish setting designed to alluring perfection.
A bit pricey for the food options but the service was excellent!
My husband and I stopped in for post theatre drinks and dinner night out. Villon is stunning-from the interiors to the bar ware, your eyes will enjoy what they see. (And you get the added bonus of experiencing a Kelly Wearstler creation-always glamorous and intentional). The drinks were top notch and perfectly poured. Our dinner was delicious (we ordered five dishes) EXCEPT for the crab dish which we found flat and underwhelming compared to the genius of everything else the kitchen created. Even with that being said, I still highly recommend this sexy spot!
We were fortunate to eat here during the new chef’s first menu. It was delicious, with many plant-based options. The potato gnocchi were unbelievable. We dined pre-theater, and they were very attentive to our timeline without us ever feeling rushed. We’d love to return to take our time and explore the menu more.
Food and service were both mediocre. Tea selection - compared to other tea services in San Francisco- wasn’t great, and the pots were small considering they weren’t swinging by to refill them. The water wasn’t very hot either. The food was plentiful, so kudos on the serving size, but not memorable either. Loved the hotel lobby though!
Anniversary
Great food, great drinks, great service, but loud.
Great service at the bar
Beautifully presented dinner; lots of good vegetarian and gluten free options. Extensive and fun cocktail list.
Been here multiple times. A great place for the nearby theaters. Interesting and tasty menu, including cocktails.
Love this place, they have a new menu and they surpassed my expectations!
Chicory Salad is amazing
Service impeccable and server fantastic, ingredients in some items unusual combinations.
If you are going to the Orpheum Theater, this place is perfect for a lovely pre theater dinner. But the prices are a little high even though the food is delicious.
Fun dinner at Villon. Loved the decor, and the interesting drink menu makes for great dinner conversations!
Menu is creative and food is delicious. Service is friendly and prompt.
Probably not kids friendly.
Another perfect pre-theater meal!
This is a hidden gem on Market St in the Proper Hotel just down the street rom the Orpheum Theatre. We ate here before going to see Hamilton. The made sure we were done by 6:30 for the 4 minute walk up the street to the theatre. Although this place serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, etc. The dinner was very good. Our waitress was excellent and really took care of us. She never missed a beat. We ordered the truffle butter rolls, dungeness crab salad and wagyu steak to share. The only negative was the salad because of the portion size. really small; about two bites. Cocktails were some of the best. Old fashion was one the best.
Our waitress was amazing and super accommodating. It was my birthday and she served us dessert and after dinner had a hotel member escort us to the rooftop bar for table service and the best view in the house. She definitely helped make the celebration wonderful and special. Super cute spot, can't wait to return!
Ate here with five people. Not a single complaint. Lots of items to choose from including pasta and seafood dishes.
I took my partner here for a birthday dinner. Rachel was our server and she was outstanding! Gave us detailed descriptions of the cocktails and the menu. Great recommendations and she was a total sweetheart. Made this special occasion really wonderful. Thank you Rachel!
Food was fine, nothing special. Service was very good however and despite not being in the best neighborhood the restaurant is in a nice setting.
great food, and servers were very attentive to our theater timeline. Every dish was delicious!!
The Villon is the perfect place for a cocktail or dinner before your theater show. The food is delicious and the service is attentive. They will ask you if you are catching a show and will make sure your food comes out without a hitch. Loved their chicory salad and Dungeness crab. Will want to go back to try their tea time service !
Loved the informal environment with wonderful service
I didn’t know what to expect but it was a delicious surprise. The food is unique and yummy - so many interesting flavors to experience. The service was great. The presentation superb. I loved every minute. It was fun!
This restaurant is conveniently located on the ground floor of the delightfully chic Proper Hotel at 7th & Market Streets. The location, along with the delicious and creative food, great service, and simple but beautiful decor make it a perfect place for a pre-or post-theater meal. We enjoyed our meals before the fantastic matinee Hamilton performance at the nearby Orpheum Theatre.
