Service was a little slow, think they might have been short staffed. Otherwise great experience
The food was amazing, the service was good but nothing beyond. I was disappointed that there was nothing special about our dinner even though I notified them we were celebrating a birthday. Fine dining restaurants almost always have a promotion for a dessert or something, not this restaurant. I also waited about 20 mins for a cocktail. I don’t know if the server forgot but even after I reminded her once it had been 10 mins and my friends got their drinks- I still waited another 10 mins. Our sever did take off the drink which I appreciated. I think I would only come back for the amazing food.
Great service, excellent halibut crudo, duck also very good, Especially thigh quarter, lg portion. Brussel sprouts good, but too sweet for me. Ambience cool, but very loud
A diamond in the rough! We had an amazing meal with outstanding service! Go just Go!
Food, ambience, service, excellent. Very limited menu.
First time dining at Villon but not the last.
Wonderful way to celebrate my birthday with
my nephew’s fiancé. Short walk from the
The atmosphere is stunning. The service was great (there had been some miscommunication about whether they would have a gluten-free tea option but they quickly subbed in a charcuterie plate that was fabulous). The issue was that the food was mostly bland. The scones were pretty tough and dry and the bread in the finger sandwiches had dried out a little. Some elements, like the rhubarb jam and the cream and jam-filled profiteroles were EXCELLENT, but this only made the bland chocolate cookies and the scones strangely dissonant. I might come back here for cocktails so I could enjoy the space and the service, but we paid $206 for high tea for 4 people and I just felt like I was a little disappointed with the tea and food.
We waited 10 minutes before any one noticed we were at the host desk then the poor service and lack of attention continued throughout the meal. And to make matters worse, the $58 ribeye was 50% fat and overcooked. Inattentive, poor service combined with a badly prepared meal.
Loved it. Perfect place to grab a nice meal and cocktails before seeing a show at the Orpheum.
Bright spot in a terrible neighborhood!!! Service was fantastic, food really great! Priced accordingly! Portions lunch sized with dinner prices but yummy! 😋
Our server was very helpful on what to order to get out quickly to get to our play.
This Restaurant was perfect for a pre-show meal. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable. Our meal was beautifully presented and tasted even better. The ambiance was also very enjoyable. We will definitely keep this restaurant in mind for future meals before a show.
Great place for brunch prior to a play at either the Golden Gate or Orpheum Theater. Can get very crowded and somewhat noisy as the dining area is small.
This restaurant is becoming my go-to for special occasions. The menu is small but focused on being something truly special in every single bite. You won’t regret anything you pick from the menu... and love my server Kat!
Everyone comes here before seeing Hamilton, and the staff knows. If you let them know you're trying to catch a show, theyre super attentive to getting your food out in time. Super friendly staff, gorgeous restaurant, and stellar food. On the expensive side, but whatever.
Amazing food. Great wine suggestions and great service
A nightmare. The wait person forgot us! We booked at 5:15, after seeing a musical up the street. Figured we cd walk back to car way before dark. Ordered halibut special and a kale salad. After an hour, the halibut showed up but no salad. I sat there waiting for my salad and when the wait lady came to check, I told her I was not going to eat the halibut until after the salad. Ok. She goes back and gets our salads and as an afterthought, asks if she sh take my halibut back to kitchen until I’m ready for it. Fine. Another 45 minutes later the manager magically appears and tells me they are out of halibut. Hmmm. I order salmon and then realize that the halibut that sat at my place, the halibut I breathed on, was served to someone else! Yuck. Ate the minuscule portion of salmon. Ordered dessert and 2.5 hours later emerged. The manager comped my main course but yuck anyway. Also, we (2 women) now got to walk through the Tenderloin in the dark. Not going back.
how can 4, yes - - 4 nachos cost $16?
What a rip!
For that price, you better be serving me wagyu, not chorizo ;(
Mixed review for this evening.
7pm curtain call for Hamilton and Villon is 2 blocks down Market Street from the Orpheum. Don't get freaked out as you cross United Nations Plaza - be cool!
First of all, super weird female server...seriously weird. Robot-like. And she had to recite, very slowly and painfully, the drink menu AND the food menu. Ugh, yes, we heard you - - 3 times now. MOVE on!
If you interrupted her, she then started over - sooooo painful!
On the menu, there are asterisks next to some of the food items indicating they can be expedited to make your show ;) . 2 items on the menu: the duck and rib eye DO not have asterisks and she told us is takes about 35 minutes to cook. Weird how the Berkshire pork chop is not marked with an asterisk - hmmm, it is pre-cooked and dry as hell?
Our little group of 3 are hangry!
Yuba Noodles $18 (meh)
Kimchi, Creamed Corn, Soy Egg Yolk, Miso Broth
Nachos $16 (RIP OFF!!! 4 nachos!)

Super small portion
Dry Aged Rib-Eye $56 - super generous portion, med rare, delicious!
Hasselback Potatoes, Roasted Peppers, Chimichurri

Catch of the Day - Halibut $34

All three of our cocktails were STRONG!

because five Daiquiris wasn't enough for him.
Gold Rum, Grapefruit, Creme de Cacao, Lime.
Crushed Ice. Salt Rim.
Vodka Martini $14
Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to order dessert as we had to skedaddle outta there.
Overall, plan your eating menu if you come here. It is super convenient for the Orpheum.
Valet parking is the first 2 hours is $20, each hour there after is $12.50 - our cost for a 5pm dinner reservation
Excellent gfood. Drinks, ambiance, service!! Definitely will be back.. the ricotta pancakes were AMAZING
Insanely creative cocktails
Tight, taste-tacular dinner
Winning, literally Wonderland wine
Sublime, shareable dessert
All in the perfect, city setting.
Food good... but trying a little too hard to be unique and trendy. Too many ingredients overwhelmed some of the dishes especially dessert
Insanely overpriced. $16 for a small bowl of Brussels sprouts? Come on.
Loved our server, Patty!!!!
I took a professional colleague of mine to Villon and we had a good time. The food and wine offerings are quite limited, but the quality of both were good. The service was very good. The ambiance was a mixed bag: the decor is interesting, but the air conditioning was blasting and it was rather cold.
Villon was great for a lunch meeting in that area. Food was delicious, service was stellar, sandwiches seem a bit expensive, but I had reviewed the menu beforehand, and luckily portion sizes were solid. Main issue? I should have asked, but Valet Parking for a 2 hour lunch was $45. Hard to still feel positive after a solid meal, with that exit...even for SF.
Great location for a brunch before a show at Orpheum.
The food was exceptional, and the service was great as well. This was my second visit, and I definitely will go back.
The service was extraordinary! We were running late for the theater and our wonderful server got us beautifully fed and to the theater in time. A gem on Market St! We will return!
Fantastic service, delicious food, beautiful setting!
Nice hotel and good atmosphere.
Great place to have a dinner prior to theater at the Golden Gate or the Orpheum. Remember to come through the front door of the hotel, which is on the other side of the restaurant, not quite as intuitive as you'd think. But so much fun!
The menu is quite a lot better at lunch. I did not enjoy my dinner. I did not complain but they noticed I didn’t eat it and kindly comped it but I’d rather have had an enjoyable meal. The people are very nice and the ambiance is great.
We enjoyed our dinner immensely and the service was impeccable!
Overall not bad but really over-priced. The 'nachos' which set you back $16 are just 4 medium sized corn chips, they're good but $4 per corn chip is a little much. Pull your head in guys.
Great food, great service. Can’t wait to go back!
Our waitress was fantastic! Very attentive. She made our evening! Great atmosphere. Very chic. Food was delicious.
Perfect Start in the day with delicious breakfast
Delicious food for breakfast. Very friendly service. Thank you for the great Start in the day
The food was absolutely delicious. One of the best dinners I've ever had honestly. And I've eaten at a lot of great restaurants. This place is off the charts!
