A real surprise in an otherwise sketchy neighborhood. A great find for theater dining.
The Rolls! Make sure you order the Hawaiian Rolls. The restaurant is in the very cool Proper Hotel. We went for a pre theatre meal. We really enjoyed our meal from start to finish. The food was inventive and presented with an artistic flair. The desserts are a amazing. It’s a quick walk to the Orpheum. I’m really happy we tried it.
Wonderful brunch. We were able to have conversations easily. Beautiful space.
The food was some of the best I have ever had in San Francisco. The ambiance of the place was the reason I took my friends. The total package will keep me coming back.
We absolutely loved our meal the service and the gorgeous interior of this amazing restaurant. The host could not have been more accommodating… He made us feel like royalty including showing us up to the roof deck bar before dinner. This is an absolute must try spot in San Francisco
Great restaurant with excellent food but in a really bad part of town it seems. Just request a taxi from the doorman to avoid the crazy homeless people after your dinner on the streets around the restaurant.
Very limited menu, inside of a hotel lobby that doesn’t feel separated at all. Felt like it was supposed to be a fast paced meal but for the price point it should have been more of a dining experience. The decor and lobby area are beautifully decorated but for the people who want a true SF dining experience, there are many options better than this.
Hamachi was delicious. Menu is quite limited & value for money is average. Beautiful room/ambiance.
The setting, service, drinks, and food are all wonderful.
Let’s start with the setting. The Proper hotel is a great addition to s neighborhood that is still very sketchy. But when you walk inside, you enter a decorative world that is first rate. Service is perfect, from the greeting to the wait staff. The drinks menu is worth a visit just for that. The menu is small and has just enough selection to make it easy to pick from the offerings.
Enough said. Just go there.
What a fantastic new restaurant in SF. The food and ambience was perfection. We ordered salmon, pork shoulder, kale salad, and the Hawaiian rolls - everything was fantastic!
Our kids sent us on a date to Villon once and it was so good that we returned. Great fusion cuisine. Wonderful craft cocktails. We’ll be back.
They were totally disorganized and not ready for the brunch crowd. Drinks arrived well after we were done with the food - which I would describe as fine but not special. Brand new server was lovely and tried to make up for things. My second time being there and neither time did I feel they had it together.
My wife and I were on our way home from winter in the desert and spent 1 night in San Fran. We found Villon on Opentable so decided to try. It was the best restaurant overall that we had been to over the winter months and do frequent out regularly. From the time we arrived to the time we left the service and food quality were off the end! Special thanks to Salvador for his attention to detail with everything!
Great staff. Outstanding food. Incredible ambiance. Hip decor.
Albert was a fantastic waiter! Very attentive to us and others.
It was amazing. Absolutely loved the food and the restaurant is beautiful. The pancakes and egg white frittata were delicious. We also had dinner the night before and which was also outstanding. The octopus appetizer was awesome. The bread is ridiculously good. The pork shoulder and the steak were delicious. Service was terrific. Can’t wait to return.
The cocktails were delicious, but I'd say that was all that stood out at Villon. 5 shared plates, (one of them rolls w/ butter) and 3 cocktails came to about $250. Hard to like anything with that price tag.
If I went back, I'd have an order of the Hawaiian rolls at the bar with one of the cocktails and just enjoy the space. The Proper Hotel's lobby and the decor at Villon are designed beautifully.
Great food. Good wine in a very interesting space.
The food is excellent but they really need to be more attentive to their guests. The time in between courses was inconsistent. Once they fix these issues this will be my new favorite spot.
Beautiful space, a little loud but fun and energetic. Food was delicious, well prepared. Cocktails were excellent! Service is attentive and knowledgeable. Beautiful art work in the lobby and on the walls.
Wow! What a lovely surprise! We loved each of our four courses that were flavorful and beautifully presented.
The staff was very accommodating and responsive. We liked our server who helped us make our meal choices. She made good recommendations. They were very mindful of our need to leave in time to get to a theater performance. The food was inventive and delicious. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Good location for dinner before going to ACT or Orpheum. Good service, comfortable, food good and inventive. We will return
Went for a quick breakfast before going to Burke Williams...Great service! Yummy food
Great service and food
Lugar súper bonito, comida está bien pero no wow
Vale la pena ir por conocer el lugar
Absolutely brilliant food and attentive service make for a wonderful spot. The appetizers are so delicious that it’s hard not to overdo it.
Loved the space, vibe and food. What a great surprise!
The service was horrible, super slow, the server was completely inattentive and they forgot to bring out one of the dishes we ordered but didn’t forget to charge us for it.
We loved the food and the drinks. The balance of the ingredients in each plate we had was incredible. We will be back again.
I've been to Villon a couple times before and loved it. So I thought it would be such a great place to bring friends visiting from out of town. Unfortunately the experience did not live up to my memory and my recant of the place. Food was salty as we advised our server at the end. She agreed that there many same comments for the evening. We did not get seated for our 9:45 reservation until 10:30.... Couple dishes that stood out. Favorite was ribs and chicken breasts. Chocolate fettuccine was great except for the venison. I also think that people who make reservations at the restaurant and finish dining should have priority to the rooftop bar Charmaine after the guests of the hotel... We should not have to wait in line with people wanting to only visit the bar
As hotel guests at the Proper, we went to Villon twice, once for drinks at the bar, and once for Sunday brunch. Highlights consisted of: 1) The hosts were so kind and incredibly accommodating. They seated us immediately. 2) Our server was so nice during our brunch. He walked us through the menu, brought our drinks right away, was really knowledgeable and friendly, and overall made our experience really nice. 3) The food was really really good and hot (which, is something I always look for!) 4) The atmosphere is so chic and stunning. You’ll die over the bar setup and overall style of the place.
Overall, Villon is a 5 star place! Highly recommend it.
Loved the creative drink menu and the old world European charm of the decor...
Excellent service and great food
Amazing food and incredible service. Had a perfect time
Food was late and bland. Service was inattentive.
Worth every minute and not as pricey as expected even though we ordered so much
Very good service for San Francisco! Delicious food and awesome ambiance in a beautifully remodeled hotel.
