Went for breakfast. Service was slow. They automatically tack in the service charge because otherwise no one would leave a tip. Beautiful and unique venue. Desserves a real restaurant.
Reservation at 11.00, 4 people, 2 yogurt comes at the table at 11.55, we had to ask to get the rest of the food to eat together, after few minutes we could start to eat together but my poached egg for the avocado toast get lost on sunday morning traffic.
The waiter bring to us two tea pot and two cups by hand and we told him that with the help of a tray it would much easier to serve, he answered " we don't have enough trays"
Toasted bread landed right on top of BB plate with my espresso cup empty drying up next to it.
The omelette was good and well cooked but 4 dices of roasted potatoes looked very sad.
The salmon quality, average, bagel comes with the same uber of the poached egg, later.
Unbelievable food, beautifully prepared and plated. Looked too good to eat, but it was delicious! I cannot wait to go back next time I an in NYC!
We had fantastic services. Nicola went above and beyond for us. He truly enjoys what he is doing. The food was fabulous.
Food was amazing! Fast and friendly staff. Courteous and thoughtful - got us coffee cups to go at the end of the meal. Setting is gorgeous and it was absolutely worth the money
So many wonderful brunch places in NYC, but we didn’t find this to be one of them. Portions were laughable. French toast was $25 and consisted of 6 bites. Steak & eggs were barely average. We love nice restaurants & expect to pay for it, but this was a rip-off. Three people, three brunch entrees, no alcohol, $170... and I left hungry :(
The food and ambience are wonderful. Reservations tend to be limited so book early. We will be back.
Awful experience, worst service I have ever had really slow and unattentive.
Our family was in NYC and staying at the Lotte NY Palace Hotel, so the convenience and good reviews I read about made our decision to have breakfast here. The menu was varied with something for everyone. But what made it special were the wonderful extras added to "regular items". The portions were just right and served hot. Our server was very attentive and personable.
The room is historic and stately - beautiful!
Well worth the trip!
Beautiful setting for a girl’s brunch and get together , service was attentive and food was very good.
Given this restaurant's location and fame (Villard House), I for sure didn't expect them to leave a dirty spoon covered in chocolate on the table. I almost used it to mix my coffee without noticing! Service was unprofessional; rushed us to pay/leave. Such a shame as this is a beautiful location.
This place is an upscale restaurant for breakfast and diner
The food is good but the size are really tiny for the price and I am French so I am looking for American super size dish
It’s just that sometimes the presentation makes it look like your food is lost in a massive plate and it’s not good even less for an American breakfast
Servie is not up to the task they interrupt your business breakfast by coming too often and cutting you in the middle of a sentence also they take your plate before everyone is done it’s really not following proper manners and its pains me
At the end I would say you should go if you have 40 dollars to spend for breakfast but don’t expect too much food is good but not amazing and it’s more for the decor than anything else that you pay that much
Service both mornings we ate here was atrocious. They are extremely unfriendly at this restaurant. It is a gorgeous spot but they need to hire a whole new staff. The french toast was worth it!
Personnel attentionné et professionnel. Décor fabuleux.
Not as special as I thought it would be. Could have been cleaner. Table was dirty
I like d the waiter, he was very friendly.
Excellent service in a beautiful setting. You are paying a lot for breakfast food, but many dishes are unique and delicious.
Classic Cozy place, liked it and would like to go back again.Even simple egg whites omelette with vegetables tasted phenomenal. And not to forget 5 star services!
Amazing Brioche Bread Pudding French Toast! Came here to celebrate my birthday and the cheesecake they brought out was also incredible. Very happy with the food! Service was acceptable. Beautiful interior walls and ceilings!
Our Dutch friends invited me and my daughter to enjoy a breakfast at the Villard during our first trip to New York. It was a pleasure being here in every way!
This place is stunning, totally gorgeous and the food is right on. Will go back. Check out the bar here..... I was floored
The servers are lovely, if a bit too hovering for my taste. (I like to feel like I am eating alone and people magically appear. My table was fine with it.) Food was fine -
not the best meal ever and $250 for brunch for three is a bit excessive, but you pay for the ambiance and history. My only real issue is that they really need to work on logistics. We were seated 20 minutes late because of the "switch" from breakfast to brunch and there were a dozen empty tables not cleared. Either get some assistance or close at 11:30 and reopen at 12 for brunch. If you are in a hurry, not the place for you.
The service was terrible
Food was very good. Service was really poor -- slow (had to ask for water twice) for instance. Prices are really high for what you get -- small bowl of greek yogurt for $12. Really? I really object to having services charges included on the check for small parties (we were 3 people). I find that really presumptuous. Not going back. Lots of hard surfaces in the main room so sound bounced around. They need curtains/soft wall coverings.
Ate breakfast here because I was staying at the NY Palace. My husband and I enjoyed breakfast very much. The menu has a variety of breakfast options albeit a bit pricy but it's NYC. The dining room is incredible if you have an appreciate for handcrafted design and architecture. The ambiance is quiet and perfect for morning cappuccino. The wait staff, particularly Melissa, was very friendly and seemed happy to cater to us. Being my husbands birthday, they even threw in a special treat! One day we will be back!
The food was good. I had bacon, eggs, and potatoes. Small portions and definitely not worth $36. The service was absolutely dreadful. The server didn't even come around to ask how the food was and didn't even bring water. They charge 15% gratuity automatically so that could explain the horrible service. There are so many other better places in the city to try.
Horrible food. I asked for a medium cooked steak. I got a rare steak that was so tough it was like chewing on rawhide. The servers were weirdly rushing and there was a general atmosphere of panic even thought he restaurant was empty. The prices are extremely high for the poor quality of the food and service. At the end they couldn’t get their system to work and after 30 minutes and many managers coming going we were finally able to pay and leave.
Beautiful place to eat. The food was good but the service was slow.
The pancakes at this place are the best pancakes I have ever had in my life. They are so tasty, fluffy, and perfect.
I was looking forward to a very nice brunch with my daughter and I was very disappointed. Totally overpriced for the quality of the food.
the most beautiful room to enjoy a lovely meal with family and friends, make sure you look up and admire the ceiling detail. Also the food is tasty and the service is on point. Cheers
Food and service good, a bit over priced for breakfast
The food was outstanding. Well presented and delicious in taste. Portions just right and quality top notch.
The food was exceptional and the setting was very charming and impressive. The service was unfriendly, erratic and unprofessional. They lacked common etiquette for serving plates, refreshing beverages and removing excess plates. They were asked to remove excess glasses and plates and only walked away with a few and never came back.
We felt very rushed. The food was good. Place was beautiful.
Very stuffy atmosphere. Food was ok- nothing special
The setting was gorgeous, but the food was so-so & it was $40 per person, so it just wasn’t worth it!
This was a disappointing experience.
The table and setting was nice but the service was poor.
Our waiter was inattentive.
Food was COLD.
Would like to recommend to others but can not do that.
Given what we paid for 4 people to brunch , the villlard really needs to up their game.
We were seated about 2 feet from the service station. Lots of noise and traffic by the waiters. Waiter asked how my meal was as an after thought, as he was pulling a jug of milk out of the fridge.
Also ordered Eggs Benedict and the yolks were hard. If the chef can’t correctly poach an egg he should be defrocked of his chefs hat.
Cancelling tomorrow’s reservation.
