We have dined at Villard many times. As soon as we sat down, the waiter filled our water glasses. We ordered coffee and I never took a sip of the water. Two others joined us for breakfast and their water glasses were also filled, but they also ordered coffee. Only one person drank out of the water glass. Imagine our shock when the bill came and we were charged for two bottles of Evian that we never ordered. The waiter insisted we ordered two bottles of Evian to the point of embarrassment for us in front of our guests.
We called the manager after we left, and he took off the two bottles of Evian from our bill (that we never ordered). Be careful of this. We assumed the water was tap water. The tap water from NYC is great btw. No need to order bottled water in the city!
The charge for each bottle of water was 12.00 btw. Unreal!
Food was great! Ambience was great! So much enjoyed our stay💓
The food is decent, but you can get a much better brunch at other places nearby. The prices are just absurd, even for midtown - $15 for an objectively tiny bowl of berries - not organic, not covered in gold, just regular mixed berries. $8 for a tea bag in a pot of hot water. $24 for a passable avocado toast that’s smaller than the superior avocado toast at The Smith. The servers try their best, but there is no quality of service that can make up for the insanity of the price/food ratio. Don’t waste your money.
Such a beautiful place to have a meal with friends or family. The food is always excellently prepared and service is exceptional.
Our waitress was wonderful. She was great and very kind! The food and atmosphere was also very pleasant.
Ambiance parfaite !
Nourriture excellente et bonne présentation.
Beautiful setting, below par service and average (at best) brunch fare at an exorbitant price. It was the polar opposite of value and I could not be forced upon to recommend it.
VILLARD restaurant is located in one of the most beautiful interiors in NYC — a Gilded Age mansion from the 1880s. You are surrounded by painted murals and carved and gilt decoration by some of the best American artists of the late 19th. Prices are Sky High but the food and experience was truly superior. My wife and I had the Lemon Marscapone pancakes and Avocado toast — beautiful presentations and incredibly delicious. A MUST to celebrate a special occasion and make it truly special.
The restaurant was empty, except for my party and another table of two people. It was strange for a location that is so ideal, and for a restaurant that comes with such fanfare - particularly because it was such a beautiful day. I asked our waiter about the lack of customers and he said it was unusual.
The staff was courteous, the food was good overall, and the decor is truly one of a kind. The place has such potential, but we did not see it in any grandeur because of the lack of an atmosphere.
Extraordinarily overpriced, extremely low product for the price. Purely paying for the ambiance and venue, which is high end. $9 coffee and $16 grapefruit is excessive.
Had a wonderful experience overall! The Manager Chris Antonacci made my birthday brunch even more special. Thank you for such great costumer service!
Service was excellent, the architecture of the interior was breathtaking. Loved it!!!
Wish they served more than just breakfast. The hotel needs a lunch and dinner restaurant badly!
Food was unremarkable. No better than what you would find at an upscale diner. The service was ridiculously bad. We waited 20 minutes after sitting before we received water and coffee. When we later could not find our waiter, we asked another waiter for the check. He literally lifted his palms and said "Not My Job". The hostess was lovely and apologetic, and the room itself is beautiful. All in all, you would be better off avoiding this over-priced, poorly staffed tourist trap.
Really lovely Brunch in a stunning dinning room.
Steak that was part of Steak and Eggs breakfast entree had no flavor. It had no seasoning done.
Me and my family enjoyed Villard very much. Get the steak and eggs!
Very expensive, excellent service and location.
I really loved it. Would recommend again.
coffee was cold, 3 pieces of cold bacon for $16
have been here before when everything was much better
The room was dark due to the limited windows and dark wood paneling. The noise level was okay; I would have preferred a quieter room.
Great place to have a Saturday or Sunday brunch especially if you like old world charm and European elegance. Just lovely.
We went to Vallard to celebrate one of our children's 18th birthdays. From start to finish, Shoyeb C. and the entire staff made this perhaps the nicest brunch we can remember! Not only was the meal fantastic, but the service was truly exceptional. Shoyeb personally chose the birthday cake, accommodated a rush meal request, and brought in a colleague to answer questions about the hotel's history. Moreover, the food was absolutely AMAZING. As promised, the roast chicken and the steak and eggs were incredible, and my husband said his Eggs Benedict were the best he has ever had. We truly can't wait to go back.
We had a spectacular Sunday brunch! The lemon ricotta pancakes and french toast were to die for and the eggs benedict had the best hollandaise I've maybe ever had! We will definitely be back!
Excellent service. French toast and Lemon Pancakes were delicious. Good value for NYC. Stunning room in a beautiful building. Will definitely come again and thoroughly recommend!
The staff here was very friendly, but the food was not great for how costly it was. Do yourself a favor, and grab a few bagels from the lotte hotel bakery, those were superb!
The Gallery Room is beautiful and the service is fabulous. The food looked prettier than it tasted, My tea was warm, but not hot and the avocado toast is better almost everywhere else. All that said, the experience was classic and I would try again.
Excellent food! The staff made the entire experience personal and were very accommodating. Will definitely be back!
They don't have a desert menu.
Beautiful environment and delicious food. A great NYC brunch!!
Arrived for an 8am table and had to wait 10 mins - service was v good and efficient and food good but $128 for breakfast (2 oatmeal’s with berries 2 juices 2 coffees) is ridiculous and then they try and pull the give you the check to sign without the itemized bill hoping you’ll add service again trick #ouch
Amazingly beautiful room with over a century of history! If only those walls could talk... Fox was spot on. Service was exemplary. A breakfast that cannot be beat
Our first time in NYC and we were staying at the Lotte so we decided to eat breakfast here. The restaurant is gorgeous and the lemon pancakes were to die for! Pricey but definitely worth it for the ambiance!
Everything was amazing and server was so sweet but they had a man walking around serving OJ & coffee, poured a cup of coffee for me after I even said no. Thought they were being generous until the bill came. We had almost $30 in drinks on our bill that we did not know we were being charged for (the prices were not on the menu either).
Beautiful with attentive service and style. Very pricey but a great experience with great food
Great place to have a business breakfast! Delicious food, attentive service and beautiful dinning room.
We had a very nice time, the food was wonderful and we saw a couple get engaged.
Great atmosphere, everyone was very attentive.
Until we see you again.
No flowers on the table, had to ask for water to be filled twice, waiter didn’t check up on us! For the money it cost for 2 for breakfast I would have expected better service.
