Great food, fantastic service. The cheese and short-rib fries are incredible and they do a mean old fashion.
Great service. Consistently good food. Will be back
Delicious pickled beets. Loved my BBQ pork sandwich and the whiskey selection. Overall great experience.
I sat outside, and it was slightly cold (not their fault). The burger with the blue cheese and foie gras was incredible, as were the fried pickles.
My second time at VW, service selection and food were outstanding both times. In a competitive Philly food scene, an outstanding option.
Food was solid. A few serving mistakes but the server was nice and made up for them.
Food wasn’t close to as good as it normally is.
This was my second time at the Whiskey ever, and this time was even better than my first. So far, the best burger I’ve had in Philly (and I’ve had a few!). And the extensive library of whiskies and bourbons is amazing. Definitely a place I will always return to when I’m in town.
Great place, did the best they could under the circumstances. Still a cool vibe great bugers.
Food was amazing! We will definitely be visiting again!
I have nothing bad to say about Village Whiskey, their food and cocktails are delicious and they are doing the best they can with the outdoor seating arrangements!
The whiskey was outstanding but was disappointed with the food. With all the great spots in Philly, would definitely recommend here for a drink or whiskey flight, but not the food.
Nice outdoor space.
I love Village Whiskey; the food and cocktails are really delicious. My friends and I had the burger of the month (this one had an amazing pumpkin aioli on it!), and it was cooked perfectly! Service was a little bit slow, but the restaurant was super busy. Will definitely be going back the next time I am in the mood for a burger!
Service was a little slow but nothing I can’t forgive under the circumstances. Excellent drinks, as you’d imagine. Burger cooked perfectly which is hard to find.
Good drinks and good food!
Great burgers. Great service. Whiskey flights are a must. Well worth pain of finding parking
Great gourmet burgers, drafts, duck fries, and drinks. So yummy!
This review is bad only for our experience. We had reservations for 5:30 and got there around 5:10. We would’ve been happy to wait till 5:30 but they offered us a table right without an umbrella. Just a table. I asked if we could have a different table. We got one. In the street. At a horrible intersection. Not thrilled with it but decided to try since we heard such good things about VW. After a car swerved to avoid hitting a bicyclist, we jumped and asked if there was any other table. Unfortunately there wasn’t. So the service that we did receive was fine. We had one drink and left. I’m sure if it weren’t for stupid COVID-19, I’d have had a better review for sure! I do thank the staff for trying to accommodate. I wonder if the table without an umbrella was our “reservation” table. I don’t think so. Anyhow, disappointed in how this turned out. Now we had to find another place without a reservation on a Saturday night.
Food was delicious. The buffalo cheese curds was a huge hit with the complete party. The buffalo sauce is on the side so get it however you feel about buffalo sauce. The short rib fries were good. The meat was fabulous and tender but overall a rich dish one has to pace themselves through.
amazing experience, only downside is that the weather was cold and the table was on the street with passing cars. but understandable due to COVID
There seemed to be a shortage of wait staff during our visit - had to wait .25+ minutes for drinks and just for the wait staff to come back to us in general. Outside of that, the food + drinks were tasty. Will be back for another try. Burger - SUPER Delish. Pigs in the Blanket = could eat all day long. Fried Shrimps - A MUST.
Staff didn't help the customers deal with the public bothering them on the street. I don't know if that is their job but it would have been nice for the staff to help deal with unwanted attention.
Service was awful. Waitress didn’t want to give us a particular table and couldn’t come up with a reason why. The whole thing was dumb. Food was unimpressive. Never going back
Waitress was great and attentive, food came out fast. Great Happy Hour option, drinks were expertly crafted. Got the Philadelphia Fishbowl and was so good, have already recommended to friends.
Everything was perfect in regards to our service and food. My only gripe is that I reserved a high top, but instead was seated at a low, sloping table.
Outstanding Happy Hour Cocktails and Snacks. Nice outdoor seating. Great Service.
Great food and drink selection at a great price!
I had a great time! Everything was still outside but the staff was friendly and we enjoyed the whiskey flights & happy hour cocktails & appetizers.
The Dundee burger - this month's special - was one of the best I've ever had. The mix drinks - whiskey ones - are delicious for those who enjoy whiskey. I'll definitely be back. They offer a nice experience considering the limitations of dining out during Covid.
Happy hour was awesome!
Appreciated the distance from other tables. The burger was also very well prepared.
My experience was pretty horrendous. My boyfriend and I came for a late lunch around 4pm yesterday. There were only 2 tables in the front area that had people seated and about 4 were open. This side of the restaurant was completely shady just because the building itself was blocking the sun. The hostess ended up taking us to the other side of the building (there was only one table filled on this other side) and sat us at a table directly in the sun. I get it, there is only outdoor seating right now. What bothered me was the fact that there were 4 other tables that were completely open and had umbrellas.
The whole time we were at lunch, there was consistently at least one open table with an umbrella...even though everyone else that came after us got seated at a table with an umbrella. The sun was directly in my eyes and I spent the majority of the lunch with my hand on my forehead trying to block out the sun. I also have super sensitive skin and ended up getting a sunburn on my chest, shoulders, and cheeks. That was fun to see when I caught my reflection in the mirror as I got into my car.
Now to the food...I ordered the Village Burger cooked medium. What I got was a burger that was “rare” - literally cold in the middle. The waiter simply said “sorry about that, I’ll let the kitchen know” but did not offer to re-cook it or take it off of our bill. I’m glad I cut it in half before attempting to eat it. Something else I found strange was that the water they gave us had zero ice in it. If you’re sitting us in the direct sun, at least give us some ice water.
I tried just sending a complaint through their website so it wouldn’t affect their rating on OpenTable but haven’t gotten a response so here I am dropping my experience here.
Very yummy, would recommend the duck fat fries. We had a wonderful server named Stacey, who gave us great food and beverage suggestions. September drink of the month is a must for lemon and gin lovers!
Very good, unusual specialty drinks, very good burger, excellent service. Highly recommended.
Good Bar food.....and a great Selection of drinks......
Waited over a hour for burger ordered, watched waitress give to another table then says she doesn’t know what happened to it..
Great food and great social distancing. Great to be back
So outdoor dining is still "de rigeur" in Philadelphia so it was a pleasure to take a break last week outside Village Whiskey PHL. Excellent cocktails, very fine house white wine all at reasonable happy hour prices. The highlight was the outstanding oysters (that I ordered will some trepidation as I was not sure how fresh they might be). Will be back again for these as well as the pickled tomatoes. We topped everything off with a burger to go. My only complaint were that the duck fat fries were not sufficiently cooked but I am the kind of diner who likes to have them cooked twice for extra crispiness. The waitstaff were thoughtful and efficient. Great memories with my gorgeous dining companion.
Service was phenomenal. I went for Happy Hour. Buck a shuck oysters, very good old fashioneds. Good value and the outdoor seating provides for ideal people watching.
Great experience, great service, great food, great wait staff and excellent manager. Thank you Jessica and Candace for your hospitality!
