This is officially my new favorite restaurant in Philly! Had an amazing meal served by an attentive, knowledgable staff. Would recommend this for anyone looking for upscale casual!
Our waitress was so friendly and I feel terrible because I forget her name!! But the food was amazing!
The food was good. The seating was tight. The service was average. The fries aren’t as good as they used to be.
We were in town and looking for a place for breakfast/brunch. I’ve been to Village Whiskey for dinner and always loved it but I had no idea they had brunch! The chicken and waffles were amazing!!! I also love bloody Mary’s and their’s did not disappoint! Far from average! We enjoyed the entire experience.
Heard great things about this place from fellow foodies, in particular the burgers were supposedly among the best in the city. Definitely a cool place with an impeccable selection of bourbon/whiskey/scotch, but the burger (which is what I came for) was mediocre at best. I and my 2 companions all had burgers and not one was made to the chosen temperature. Each was over cooked and dry. The waitress and manager did compensate us by removing our drinks from the bill and this was greatly appreciated but I’d would have rather just enjoyed a perfectly cooked, juicy burger.
Delicious as always-------------------------------------------
Best burger we’ve ever had. Great selection of whiskey.
Great service, complemented by excellent food and a good whiskey list.
Stopped in for lunch on a weekday. Service was fine though food took quite a bit of time to get out despite very few patrons. With the limited menu wish there wasn't an upcharge for every modification. VW smash lunch special was very delicious however but nothing to rave about.
Good lunch spot. Great burgers.
Great service and food
Very intimate restaurant. Service could've been a bit more attentive. The food was good as was the price point for the food. Drinks were also good. Nothing that knocked my socks off but I would be open to returning.
Our ladies’ book club met here and had a great, fun brunch!
Well I hate to ever give a poor review...but, I drove an hour to Village Wiskey and have been to every Iron Chefs restaurants other then Morimoto...and many celebrity chefs restaurants as well... by far I'm sticking with Wolfgang...I ordered the burger of the month no build of flavor just blah. ..the duck fat fries super soggy I'm a crispy fry fan....but I had the best cheese curds ever...they took the baked Alaska off the menu and only have milkshakes bummer...great whiskey menu hence the name...Sorry José just expected more!!!!
Excellent server: attentive and courteous. Ready to serve but did not put pressure on us to make up our minds or rush the order.
The food was great and our server was amazing, very helpful w/ menu items and drink selections.
Known for their burgers...they are good. Quite pricey though for the size. And they are pretty much impossible to eat as a sandwich...between the thickness and grease/juice ruining the bun. For $20 (not even the most expensive burger), you can't even get a few fries. They are extra.
Love their cocktails though! Especially the commodore.
Lunch special is a good value
Great burger, tasty appetizers, relaxed environment for catching up with a friend!
Met up with a friend for brunch. I’m a “whiskey” guy and appreciate a solid “cocktail” so I was excited. The drinks did impress as did the food. It’s a little annoying to pay for every additional fixing on a sandwich (e.g. cheese, etc) and sides (e.g fries) but it was worth it. The spacing is VERY tight so be prepared for an intimate date with your other diners. Absolutely recommend.
Burgers are great , toppings get pricey
the decor is cute and suits the location and cuisine. our server seemed knowledgeable and the food was flavorful and beautifully presented. my only gripe is that the portions were much smaller than i anticipated. i ordered the shrimp and grits; it came with chard, andouille sausage and a fried egg. i honestly had a hard time getting a full bite of grits onto my fork at any point because there was so little of it in the dish, and there were only three shrimp on the plate; it felt more like a small plate than an $18 entree. even after ordering a side of toast i still left a bit hungry. i’m told that the burgers here are phenomenal, and i would definitely come back to try one, but i wouldn’t return for brunch.
Burgers were overcooked. Wasn’t always the case. An anomaly? You be the judge. For the price they charge burgers should always be on point.
The service is great , (friendly and efficient) .The atmosphere is cozy and the handcrafted coctails are very good. I love to try new savory drinks, often with some spice and The Village Whisky doesn’t disappoint. There’s something about bourbon and bacon at brunch -it’s decadent! This is to be one of our favorite go to spots for great drinks and food.
The only thing I have bad to say about this place is I don’t have one next to me where I live. It’s worth the 1-1.5 hrs drive hell I would drive two hours to get here. Always great service food and drink.
Our group of four enjoyed our brunch orders - Distrito burger (special), Patty Melt, French Toast, and Chicken & Waffles, duck fat fries - but didn't think much of the service. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming, but our server seemed a bit pretentious. His attitude toward us became visibly more condescending when all we wanted to drink was water, but hey, we were sweaty and thirsty from walking to VW on a muggy summer day. With that said, he and another member of the wait staff always made sure our drinks were full. At one point the server splashed water on the table and down my leg and said "oh!" but didn't apologize, and then walked away.
It's a shame that one server's treatment overshadowed our experience as the food was good. The distrito burger and patty melt were filling, but the french toast and chicken & waffles weren't the most filling options, so some people in our party ended up supplementing their meals elsewhere, making for a somewhat pricier meal out.
For me it's a toss up as to whether or not I'd recommend VW. I've had better experiences at Garces' other restaurants (Amada, Distrito, Tinto, etc.).
Great all around
The AC was out, so they were seating customers next door for lunch in the Tinto space--which was actually nicer than if we stayed at Village Whiskey. Great burger and fries lunch special. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. When I crave a good burger, this is one of the first places on my list.
Very noisy, food was bland and not worth the price.
Excellent service and great food, as well as one of the best gluten free burgers anywhere.
Always love this place
Everyone was very nice, and very accommodating. We were not rushed out, and able to have a couple drinks after lunch. The pulled pork was awesome. I definitely recommend this for everyday dining.
It was an okay experience based on what I ordered which was the chicken sandwich. The fruit punch drink was a waste, order the commodore that was good.
The cocktail of the month was delicious and as always the truffles pickled cauliflower is my favorite!
The burgers were excellent. Our reservation was for 2pm, and the brunch menu was still in effect, so there were really only two burgers to choose from, which was a bit of a disappointment. We loved the ambiance of the place, and the pricing was quite reasonable.
Went for Fathers Day brunch and had a great experience- loved the food, drinks, atmosphere and service. Would go back for sure!
Bacon flight was great!
We loved the ambiance. The special cocktails were fun.
High top seating uncomfortable for 3
Service great. Prices good
Burger ordered medium was close to well. No pink at all.
Food and drinks were great BUT the staff seemed like they were in a daze, perhaps the shenanigans of Garces has taken its toll on the staff
