My hope in getting a reservation at the Village Tavern on Saturday evening was because I was in the mood for prime rib. Only to find out at 6:30 that they were already out of prime rib a real disappointment. So I had to opt for the New York strip steak … not a good choice. It was flavorless and very tough. We did order appetizers… The barbecue chicken wings were delicious, but there weren’t enough to satisfy us for the price we paid. Our server I cannot remember her name was very good and attentive and came by and asked how everything was several times during the meal. Another disappointment was they had a mudslide on the menu for dessert but it wasn’t a frozen mudslide so I opted not to get that either. All in all the visit to the Village Tavern was a four out of 10.

The Village Tavern has an extensive menu. Big and small plates: salads, appetizers, meat and fish. We had a booth for the 4 of us which was large enough to not crowd the dishes. Beer and wine selection was very good.

Medium wells steals were dry but well seasoned . The shrimp and grits were horrible. They were cold and the grits were a lumpy soup substance. Not good at all. The waitress brought out two rounds of sodas that were carbonated water only. The third time was a charm although she seemed aggravated that the drinks and her service was not good. The spinach dip was the only good thing about this dinner.

We came to the village tavern during our visit to Salem and chose the Village Tavern for the very specific reason that they cater to food allergies so well. Our daughter who is allergic to peanuts eggs and dairy was able to have the most delicious burger and fries because of their dedication to Food allergies and their separate fryers to maintain the safety of their guests with celiac disease. The chef was so wonderful and so was our server, Jessica. She went out of her way to make sure our daughter was safe and her food came out perfect. She was wonderful to us and we can’t thank her enough from the bottom of our hearts for her care and concern while waiting on our table. The food was excellent, with some of the best burgers we have ever tasted we will definitely be back!!!

This was my first time at this restaurant with my sister in law and we really enjoyed ourselves! The live music was wonderful and relaxing, the drinks were delicious - the food was amazing TRY THEIR TRUFFLE FRIES AND GARLIC BURGER !! 🤤 I’ll definitely be going back! It was a little tricky to find , they were seating outdoors so the entrance was outside but it’s right in/beside the Witch City Mall ! Such a fun experience !

First - the service was very good. Our waitress was very attentive and got us what we wanted very quickly. We ordered drinks and they were at the table within 5 minutes. Very good. The atmosphere was nice. We sat outside and watched the activity on Essex St which was fun. It wasn't too loud at all so the atmosphere was great. The food however was a different story. My daughter ordered a hamburger done medium but it showed up with not a touch of pink to be seen. It was overdone. My GF ordered the steak tacos. The steak was also overdone and very dry. I ordered the prime rib done medium and it was the same. There was no pink in it and it was overdone. The portions were pretty good size but that doesn't make up for the low quality of the preparation. The value of our visit was also questionable. We had a plate of nachos as an appetizer with chicken - $21. This was not a huge portion of nachos for the money. Some tortilla chips, jalepenos, tomatoes, etc shouldn't cost $21. The final bill was over $200 with tip. This included 4 beers which were priced based on the ABV which personally bothers me. Just pick a price for lower octane beer and a price for higher octane beer. Anyway, it just seemed like a lot of money for what we got so I can't recommend the Village Tavern.

After a long day of walking tours, my 14 yo daughter and I made reservations for the Village tavern. We got the charcuterie board and entrees. Apparently, this was unusual because the waiter commented the we were "good eaters" then mentioned that we were "finally full" when we asked for the check. I'm not sure what he was thinking but instead of ordering dessert I took my crying 14yo back to our hotel. His thoughtless comments hurt the feelings of a little girl and honestly I was pretty annoyed too. Your job is to sell food not comment on how much people eat.

From out of town. Was not what we were expecting at all from the pictures. Staff was okay. Food was horrible we got 3 flatbreads and a buffalo Mac and cheese. The Tonys flatbread was not even edible the cheese tasted fake and everyone else’s were not great at all. Would not recommend there are other places down the road a lot nicer and better quality food.

Ordered poutine fries. Was NOT authentic. Came with dark gravy & melted shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Did not have cheese curds. BIG disappointment & cost $12. Also, ordered mushroom swiss burger. Flavor was tasty, but had only bun, meat, cheese, & mushrooms on it. No condiments. Most likely would not return &/or recommend
