Wonderful fresh seafood.
Always fresh fish and a relaxing meal.
Food was excellent and the waitress was friendly and polite
Took some family, who were visiting from California, here for dinner. Food was excellent and service was top notch.
If you like haddock, you won’t find a fresher meal cooked to perfection.
We had a 6:15 reservation and probably sat down at 6:20, which was fine. They sat us back in the sunroom and it was so loud that I thought I was going to lose my mind. The windows and surfaces felt like we were surrounded by grime. It felt dark and dingy. We looked at the menu and it was fine, but if you want healthy options probably not the best. The server brought us our drinks rather quickly, but the she went by us 3 times and kept saying she would be back. But after sitting there for 20 minutes we decided to leave. After her passing us by the 3rd time. When we left the waitress told the manager that we weren’t sitting there that long (not sure a what happened with the customer is always right). But if you feel the need to tell us you’ll be back and then the 3rd pass you don’t even make eye contact you are completely aware it’s been awhile. The manager tried to comp us clam chowder to take it with us and was very apologetic, which was nice, but we were done and just wanted to get out of there.
Strange evaluations on this app and trip advisor. We award a generous 2 overall. Fish ok, unless baked in which it is covered with buttered Ritz crackers. Sides are extremely simple with no taste. At least there was salt on the table.
Very good baked haddock. Fried clams only ok. Other places have more flavorful batter. Onion rings were rubbery, with onion slices way too big and undercooked, and batter didn't stick. If they were to improve their fried food batter, we would go there more often.
We love The Village. My family has been going there for years. Great people, great food and with a moderate noise level you know they're busy and that's a good thing. 😊 we made reservations and that worked out well because the restaurant filled up quickly.
Excellent, as it has been for many years. - both service and food. We each had the broiled scallops, which were small and very flavorful, i.e., not the larger scallops that sometimes don't seem to have much flavor. The key lime pie, which the menu said is their own recipe, was also very good.
The food is always delicious there !
Our waitress had too many tables outside and was also taking care of bar customers. She was still very pleasant, clearly overworked. She also gave us ten percent discount for Cape Ann residents.
Cudos to her. Comp’d onion rings! Coupons for ice cream store too.
Food was excellent. We all loved our seafood dishes.
My husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. I wish I remembered out waitresses name...she was very good. The clam chowder and the shrimp scampi were excellent, although I would have liked to have some garlic in the scampi. I always get cole slaw as my side since it is so good at The Village.
Server was awesome. Steak tips horrible. Fried clams excellent
Shrimp scampi average. Ceaser salad awful
Food quality does not compare to previous years . Ribs were not good , shrimp included in a salad were likely prepared and cooked previously . The food offerings were poor and when compared to that offered by previous owner fell way short . Will not return again .
If you are looking for good, fresh seafood this is the place to be. If you are looking for good service, this is not your place.
We were sat and once our drinks came over we ordered soups. I did tell our server we will wait until they come up to order. His response was ,”good luck finding me and ordering, it’s going to get real busy.” He walked away before we could even respond. Needless to say we ate and left immediately.
We had to wait way too long for our waitress. It was Father’s day but it did not appear to be overly busy for them. We were sitting outside and our waitress would disappear inside for long periods of time. We wanted to get a second round of drinks but waited so long that we opted to get the check and head to the brewery down the street for a drink.
The food was good but the portions were much smaller and price was ridiculous for clam plate.
Melissa was great. Had a wonderful time
Great food and great service at a great price each time I have been with family.
One of my favorite restaurants, never disappointed.
We had the special -baked trio and fried haddock plate.
My husband said it was a little dry and my haddock was great. Would have given them a 5 but they offered a salad instead of coleslaw or veg and they charged us 4.00 each for a salad and I think a couple of dollars for 4 anchovies.
We will definitely be back. Very friendly customers and bartenders
Prices are a bit high for what i consider a family restaurant. The service was a bit slow last night. The food was fresh and tasty.
4 of us made a reservation for the Village b/c one of our friends was celebrating a big birthday (80!!!) & this is her favorite restaurant! We were seated promptly at large table for 6 - 8 giving us a lot of space! Ordered almost right away. Unfortunately some of our favorite dishes are not on the menu d/t limited menu during pandemic?
for example Haddock Luanne !
Waitress was very attentive & made a special set-up (long plate instead of bowl) for the Strawberry shortcake (love the biscuit) so that the BD girl could easily share her Birthday dessert! She loved it! & so did we!
Great experience !
Go here at least once a week and always a good meal. Helps to have Opentable to check availability and put in a reservation quickly.
Always a great time at the Village!
The Village is always outstanding. Grateful that new owners have maintained all of the traditional favorites. Wait staff is excellent. The addition of open table for reservations is a real plus!
Food was hot and fresh. Chowder was good but I prefer thick chowder and this was thin. Scallops were a little bland. Good portion size. Overall good experience.
The food is consistently great and our server Bret was awesome. It was my Father’s 86 birthday and he was so happy. The birthday cake was delicious!
We’ve eaten here multiple times pre-pandemic and it’s always been good. Now it’s a different story. My husband ordered the Eastern Point which is baked scallops and haddock. The portion size for $ 24 was extremely small. Haddock was about 2x3 piece and 5 small bay sized scallops. I ordered the fried scallops which were on the small side and had no flavor and fries were over cooked. Fried calamari appetizer was over cooked and served with cocktail sauce.
The food was good however the service was very slow. I attribute this to Covid staff levels. I’m sure it will approve with time.
Food is always good there!
A classic, restaurant with great food and reasonable prices.
As always, The Village clams are simply the best anywhere. Very generous portions that are perfectly cooked. The Village has been a favorite for many years and has never let me down. Friendly, efficient service that matches always tasty food. Appropriate music playing in the background, not the foreground so it is not competing with conversation and the enjoyment of your meal.
Well worth the drive to Essex. I am very pleased that The Village is open more days and will be back to normal hours of operation soon.
We love their garden room it’s inside but has a nice outdoor feel. The food is always wonderful I’ve never been disappointed. Don’t forget their clam chowder it’s the best on the north shore.
Excellent food and service.
Our server Brad was wonderful and entertaining
Been going to the Village for 50 years and is always a consistently good meal. Best fried clams anywhere!
Always good food, friendly service, a great atmosphere.
This place is consistently good! Service was great!
Thank you!!! Always love going there!
