About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem

Coming from Perú, our family wanted a way to share our cuisine with our Arizona neighbors. This dream led us to open our restaurant, Villa Perú. Every meal here is a way for us to share Peruvian culture with you, and our dishes, design, and architecture were all chosen to capture the authentic experience of our first home. Allow our selection of sophisticated Peruvian dishes and traditionally made Pisco-themed cocktails to take you on a vicarious adventure you wont soon forget.

It was their Lobster celebration and it was wonderful. In addition to their regular menu, they had a special lobster menu loaded with choices. This is the most authentic Peruvian food north of Lima. Family owned and operated, it is a MUST in Tucson.

Villa Peru has become one of our go to places for dinner with friends, including out-of-town visitors. The food and service are reliably very good. We particularly enjoy and recommend the amazing variety of Ceviches. The cocktail list is also excellent and different, using the Pisco as a successful basis for many mixed drinks. Beer and wine are also good. However, it seems the prices are creeping up. The portions are very large, which many people enjoy. It is possible to share these large portions, which is a plus. But I have one problem that prevents me from giving Villa Peru five stars: they add a 3% charge to use a credit card. No other fine restaurants, or casual restaurants, do that. It is not prominently disclosed until you get the bill. Most of us do not carry around $200 in cash to pay for dinner. Our bill for 8 people was $750; I certainly don't carry that amount. I object to the surcharge, which used to be illegal, but I guess is permitted now. I think Villa Peru should eliminate this ill-advised fee that impacts the vast majority of patrons. My recent table of 8 was delighted with the food and service but dismayed and put off by the unnecessary fee.

We decided to try Villa Peru for the first time since they advertised a lobster festival! I liked that they posted the menu with prices online and we were able to make an informed decision. Since it was a special evening, I decided to order the lobster tower. It was everything it was advertised to be. The top was a large whole lobster, and that was accompanied by a good sized lobster tail next to it. It was cooked to perfection, not rubbery and chewy nor undercooked! It was yummy and delicious. It was accompanied by a shrimp ceviche, a mahi-mahi ceviche, and four delicious plump mussels. I was impressed by the food, the quality and the extremely fair price. Our server was excellent, he patiently went through a couple of wine choices with me as well as their drink list. I settled on a pico sour and was not disappointed. My husband tried the chopping. It also contained a very nice sized lobster tail and he was impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the broth that came with it. So much so that at the end of the meal, he took only the broth home to enjoy the next day. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I will not hesitate to recommend or go back to this restaurant in the future. I would recommend sitting in the rear area of the restaurant as we were seated right in front and the ambience was disturbed by the people coming and going, and the light coming in every time the front door was opened. Other than that, a delightful evening.

Our experience was fabulous! We were seated toward the back, so it was quiet... the waitress came right away and started us with drinks and chatted about the menu answering our questions. This was our first time eating Peruvian food, and it was delicious! Thank you... we'll be back!

Food was lovely. Went for the ceviche festival and tried three ceviches (a tuna, a mani-Mahon, and the Asian inspired salmon)- all were excellent and interesting. Walter’s chicken was moist, juicy and flavorful, the rice was great as was the roasted potatoes (which had a lovely crispy outside). Service was excellent. We do notice in Tucson restaurants, though, tables are not cleared between courses, which makes service very awkward when the next course comes out as their is no room on the table.

We dined at Villa Peru last week with another couple, we all dine out frequently. First, the expansion and remodel was just stunning. We were seated in the main dining area and the restaurant was busy. We ordered drinks and fried calamari. The drinks arrived and they were fine, the redesigned old fashioned was a standout. The calamari was the absolute worst we have had anywhere. It was rubbery, difficult to eat and lacked flavor. Our server was who was absent frequently came and took our orders for entrees. We also ordered a bottle of wine to accompany them. We assumed, wrongly, the entrees would not arrive until we had finished our drinks and appetizers. The entrees were served without clearing plates or empty glasses. We were almost finished with our entrees before the wine was finally served. We all had the sea bass with quinoa and a scallop. The sea bass and quinoa was just okay, however an unusually small serving. The tiny scallop was overcooked and covered with Parmesan cheese that had been melted over the scallop, but it was cold and off putting. The beautiful interior was in contrast to the poor service and overpriced, poorly executed food.
