   Terrible cocktails. I could not drink my Cosmo. Lasagna was okay. I ordered a tomato stuffed with mozzarella. I got slices of tomato with squares of mozzarella on top. When I pointed out the discrepancy, the owner/bartender/waiter (was he the chef too?) said, “Well, you can’t really roll the tomato around the cheese.” Then change the menu. The building and room are beautiful, but this didn’t feel like a real restaurant. It felt like I was in someone’s house, but not in a good way. I will not be back.

   We celebrated yet another special occasion at Villa D'Este with wonderful cuisine, delightful service, a marvelous pianist and vocalist on Friday night. What a joy to return to the comfort of one San Francisco's last affordable culinary jewels. Amazing quality and value!

   The whole place smelled kind of dank (it was a foggy day, everything had a faint mildew smell). It definitely seemed like the restaurant was catering to people age 60 and older. Food was unremarkable, but acceptable. I'd look elsewhere.

   It was an enjoyable meal. Everything there is slow paced. We arrived at 5:40pm and we left about 8pm. Ideally not a place to go to eat if you are in a hurry. Nevertheless it was an enjoyable meal.

   The primi piatti were very small. The alcohol was very expensive. The main courses could have been warmer. The flavor of the food was good and the venue was nostalgic.

   Awesome experience. Very friendly all around and the owner is FANTASTIC. So much history that I’m not sure SF even realized what a treasure this establishment is. We will be back a minimum of once a month.

   Neighborhood gem with an atmosphere that should be experienced! Like dining in a grand era theater, but as a cherished family member.

    Monday Night Supper Club dinner specials were fabulous. Combine it with a 2 hr caberet show. Food continues to be like a down to earth holiday dinner
