The food was very good, but the waitress was outstanding!
Very polite and attentive. A nice place to grab a meal at a very reasonable price.
great meal and service was great, will be back'
We were quite disappointed with this spot for a date night. It has absolutely no atmosphere, and it appears to function mainly as the "hotel restaurant" for the budget hotel next door. The service was oddly slow for a night when there was hardly anyone else in the place when we arrived. Also, the waitress brought our "starter" salad WITH our dinners, all at the same time, which made the table cramped and our mains were cooling off at the table as we ate our salads. We will not return here for a meal.
My wife and I stopped in for dinner for the first time. We will definitely be back. We had the 3 course dinner which includes shared appetizer and shared dessert. We usually don’t order 3 course dinners because there is too much food. This idea of sharing other than the entree was great. My wife is celiac and needs gluten free, but there was plenty to chose from. We shared the spinach and artichoke dip which had nice consistency and flavour. I had the piri-piri chicken and prawns. It was a bit spicy, which I like, and very flavourful. My wife had the salmon which was cooked to perfection as were the asparagus. We both like Portugese rice so that was a bonus as well. We finished with the cheescake which was the best I have had. Not heavy like a lot of places.
The owner, Rui, was serving and was spot on and friendly. The bistro is only 1/2 block south of Jasper Avenue on 104 Street, but we didn’t know about it until last night. We are very glad we found it.
Really tasty food, friendly service.
A literal hole in the wall restaurant, would never have known it existed if not for downtown dining week.
We had the baked brie and the mushroom soup as appetizers, "wow" is all i can say, the stars of the show! The brie was creamy and cheesy with a side of cranberry sauce to cut the oily taste which i thought was genius! the mushroom soup was very pungent and even though i'm not a huge fan of mushrooms, this tasted amazing!
Then the problems started, we ordered the lamb ribs and a salmon fillet which weren't bad but not great, average i guess. The fish came with a side of rice and asparagus, disappointing, the rice was dry yet soft and mushy at the same time, the asparagus was old and stringy.
Desert came, we ordered a chocolate mousse, that looked deceptively good, uh no! way too sweet and the consistency was just not there.
Value? The bill came to about 80$ which left us feeling unsatisfied.
Food was good except one of us got the rack of lamb and it came out raw. Server came back and made an excuse for the cook stating he checked the temperature before sending it out. Was supposed to be medium rare. Instead of making excuses just apologize. Just looking at it you could see it was raw not even just rare. When it came back out it was cooked to a medium rare and the flavor was great.
Stumbled upon this via open table and thrilled that we did. Great service and the food was well presented and so very flavourful. Accommodating to switch out for dietary needs. Thank you for the friendly atmosphere and mouth watering food. We will be back.
We have a group of people that meet once a month. Villa Bistro is quickly becoming our regular place to dine. The staff is friendly, the food is wonderful and we want to come back to work our way through the menu.
Excellent service. We pre-ordered our food and it works out perfectly fine timing. Price is extremely reasonable.
Met a couple girlfriends here after work on a Friday, nice cozy atmosphere. Service was wonderful and the food was great. Would highly recommend Villa Bistro as a must try. Plenty of surrounding parking and easy to find. Can’t wait for patio season!
Delicious mushroom soup!!! Great service, reasonably priced!
Went to the Bistro for pre-game drinks and meal. They have Happy Hour! The food is fantastic and the service was top-notch. My wife had the feature mushroom soup (chef creation). It was delicious. Their Caesar salad is wonderful- lite and tasty. I had the fettuccine pasta with spinach - delicious. The pasta was fresh - must be local. We’ll be back soon!
Great food, a comfortable and quiet setting and friendly service!
Lovely server. The food was all too salty (3 different main course dishes). Other than that, it would have been really good.
I had a birthday celebration here with about 15-20 friends. The server was cheerful, happy, and kind. She did not talk to us very much outside of getting our orders. She got all of our orders right, even with people buying each other drinks and splitting appetizers. They had a great variety of drinks! The food was delicious and came out perfectly warm. The chef even came out and asked us how everything was tasting, which I thought was a nice touch. Lots of sunlight which made good photos!
enjoyed lunch with girlfriends and enjoyed the delicious steak sandwich with a fresh salad. Close to where I work so maximize visiting rather than travel time.
Greeted promptly by Molly who was also our server.
Lunch turned out to be busy - help pitched in from the back.
The food was fresh and hot and tasty (I had the veggie panini and my companion had the rueben).
A great little find for lunch~
Great menu with lots to pick from. Meal was delicious with lots of flavor. Great service. Just need to improve the ambience as very bare.
This was my third visit to Villa Bistro and I’ve loved everything so far! I’ve tried the Chicken Roulade, Cheese Tortellini in Rose Sauce, Baked Brie, Charcuterie Board and the Grilled Cheese Panini and all were delicious! I can’t wait to go back and keep trying menu items. Super service and cute spot. Love!
Wife and I met our son for dinner Saturday evening. Arrived at 7:00, could sit anywhere we liked as only 6 customers. Service very prompt and cheerful. Price point is great and the food was good too. I can’t understand why there weren’t more people there. We will definitely be back!
This restaurant was okay. The service was good, but there were few people in the restaurant over the lunch hour so I think the one staff member was able to spend more time on us. The food was fine, but nothing to write home about. I was a bit surprised considering the reviews it had on here, I was expecting it to be better. That being said, it wasn't bad - but for a $20 entree you may as well go somewhere the food is really good.
I found the Villa Bistro to be cozy and not crowded. My waitress welcomed me immediately, I was seated and served a drink. I was offered a menu and was asked if I wanted the featured Lobster dinner. I chose the Lobster. I was served an excellent Caesar salad and my waitress checked to see if I was wanting any thing frequently. The lobster was very good. I was finished in just over one hour. Parking was expensive but convenient to the restaurant.
The menu is large but the food that we received arrived cold and unappetizing.
There was only one other person in the restaurant.
Will not return.
Had such an amazing time at Villa Bistro last night! The service was excellent, food tasted absolutely incredible and looked lovely upon arrival. I would definitely recommend this amazing place to others. It's family owned and operated, local, and delicious!
Pleasantly surprised by this new restaurant. Went for a late night dinner and overall it was very good. We had the lamb lollipops for a starter and they were excellent. Perfectly cooked and served with a delicious dipping sauce. Pastas were good. Food and wine was good value for the price.
