Interesting and delicious. An unusual take on Indian food.
Refused our Open Table certificate because it was 6 months old. No mention on Open Table about an expiry and seemed to make it up on the spot.
Added that we would be using the certs on the reservation.
Amazing food, great service and altogether a fantastic night. I’m so glad that Vij’s take reservations now. We will certainly come again.
The food and service was very good a bit noisy and dark
Wonderful food and wait staff. My only criticism is the lighting. Too dim. We had to use our cell phones to see the menu.
Wonderful! I had a friend visiting Vancouver for the first time, so I brought him to Vij's to show off the best of the city's cuisine. Our experience exceeded my expectations! We had delicious food and drinks, especially the pork belly spoon and Dark Army No. 3. The staff was very friendly and helpful in getting us a cab, and the atmosphere was beautiful.
Would be nice to have fresh tandoori roti & nans as that is a major & important part of Indian food.
Always great food!!
Super service- they bring out a few awesome mini-bites and really great Indian tea. Mains are great for sharing.
Excellent Indian cuisine. Best of the best in Canada !
some of the best indian food i have had! the free chai (with free refills) is amazing and the staff was so kind! i want to go back and order more things on the menu i didn't get to try when i went :)
Dinner was very nice as well as cocktails-wine was excellent. Eggplant with tomatoes starter was suggested by the server was deluxe! Can’t go wrong with flavour Spot on. Very enjoyable overall.
Wonderful experience! We went for the tasting menu which was delicious. Only criticism is that at one point, during our meal, they turned up the air conditioning and our whole table felt uncomfortably cold.
The food was amazing! As we were not locals this was quite a treat. Everything we sampled and ordered was spectacular - pork tenderloin appetizer was a favourite at our table. I thoroughly enjoyed the Rainbow trout as my main. The only regret was not having left enough room for dessert.
Service was impeccable, staff were very attentive and anticipated the needs of our table seamlessly.
Can’t imagine I can add anything better than all the previous rave reviews.
Service was impeccable
Food was a gastronomic delight
We had a very good meal at Vij's. The staff were very efficient and work well to look after the guests. The food was
Everything was great! Loved it all. I had no idea Indian food used so much cream :)
SO DELICIOUS!!!!! Every time I have been!
Staff is well trained and very personable!
Amazing service, and delicious food! I haven’t had Indian food this amazing since I lived in New York.
Vij’s is my favorite restaurant in Vancouver. I have been there three times in September...and I live in Seattle. I’ve sent so many people there over the years and everyone has come back and said it’s the best Indian food they’ve ever had. Lamb popsicles, Masala mushrooms, Jackfruit, Pork Tenderloin, and Paneer cakes are all amazing.
Loved Vij’s! I would recommend it to everyone!
Fabulous food, great experience having the owner so involved and greeting all the guests
As always great food and friendly service, staff is always on hand to make recommendations
Amazing! The food was super, the space was lovely. Vig's deserves the awesome reputation that it has!
Absolutely wonderful in every respect. Dishes were original & inventive while respecting the traditional!
Service was warm, prompt, professional. Would eat there twice a week if i lived in Vancouver.
What an outstanding dining experience. extra touches, fantastic service and excellent food.
Hadn't been to Vijs for a number of years, and only at the previous location. Found this location fine, but the ambience not as energetic or inviting. However, all that can be overlooked because the food is so terrific (although a bit overpriced). And the service was outstanding.
Everything was wonderful for a birthday celebration.
I was in Vancouver for just a few hours, and a friend recommended I eat dinner at Vij's. They took a reservation for one at 5:45, which was perfect for me as I needed to get to the airport by 7:30. People started lining up outside around 5:15, so I knew it was going to be great.
They offered me Chai tea and two different appetizers before I ordered. All were delicious.
The server was very nice and kind. I didn't feel awkward eating alone. She helped me select from the menu, as I wanted a good variety. She didn't let me order too much.
The food was delicious. I especially liked the eggplant dish and the Jackfruit. The lamb lollipop is their specialty and it was great too.
The food was spiced for flavor, not for heat. I really appreciate that.
Dinner for one, with dessert but no alcohol was about $60 Canadian. Worth every penny.
First time customer and was very impressed with our server. She was very well informed and gave some great recommendations. Thank you for a wonderful dinner.
Great place for a date. The portions could have been a little bigger
Great place to dine with friends . Food is always first class and a notch above most indian restaurants. Worth going.
Had heard wonderful things about Vij’s and finally had the chance to experience it ourselves. Attentive service, flavourful dishes, relaxed atmosphere, and great selection of portion sizes that allowed us to sample more menu items. We’ll be back!
Have eaten at Vij’s in Surrey and off Granville St both excellent. The ambiance was not as good however food was excellent. Will return.
I was very excited to try Vij’s for the first time but I was honestly disappointed. The flavours didn’t need easily and some were just very odd combinations ie the pork tenderloin with the creamy sauce. They were two distinct to go together. Anyway, it was a miss for me but perhaps will try another vij spot in the city.
We had a great seat upstairs by the window but the bar area, although seemed to have more atmosphere, was noisy! The menu was great and felt like home cooked just by the handwritten notes. The waiter was great at explaining it as well as suggesting portion sizes etc. The cocktails were limited but great esp the Martini! We would definitely go back just the independent, family feel to it makes it appealing in a world full of mediocre chains!
The food was overpriced for nothing. The waitress was trying telling us we should have ordered more even though we took food home. The amount of naan and rice they give is so little they make it so you order more. As an Indian person I was never more confused about what I ordered. I literally never heard of anything on the menu. It was not real Indian food. It’s a shame because people pay so much for something so unauthentic. I’d recommend Modern Handi on Denman. The food is much cheaper and is actually authentic Indian cuisine.
I’m so happy we can now get reservations. The food and service continue to be outstanding. The quality is in a class by itself.
I love visiting Vij’s every time I’m in Vancouver. Although it’s “Indian food with a twist” as opposed to traditional Indian fare, it’s absolutely delicious. It’s a great place to be adventurous, and the wine/cocktail list is also outstanding. Highly recommended.
