A very good anniversary dinner. Server was very knowledgeable and friendly. Food and drink was exceptional. The only glitch was that I didn’t check the bill until we got home, when I discovered that we were charged full price for my wife’s entree (chicken paneer) when in fact she ordered the smaller portion. Had a drink at the bar before dinner, and the bartender was excellent. The cocktail he suggested was truly delicious. Tried to tip him, but he refused to accept it as he explained that staff shared the tip pool.
One of the best meals I have had in my life. Waited 6 years to go to this restaurant (I am from Ontario), and it did not disappoint
Great ambience: warm & inviting. Waitstaff friendly/courteous and knowledgeable on food prep. Made great recommendations. A lot of gluten free options and they were able to make substitutions on most of the menu. Seasoning on food was great. Left very satisfied. Will definitely visit again.
have eaten there many times and it is always good. I am ready for more from this restaurant. Seems to stagnant.
We felt we were rushed. The food came to quickly, although very tasty. It felt like they were turning the table over to fast.
Amazing food and service! Food recommendations were excellent, can’t wait to go back!
very poor acoustics, could hardly hear what my guests were saying across the table due to constant high level humming. the food looked interested but the 3 of us did not enjoy the dishes we had so we are going back to the old fashioned indian cuisine at palki’s family restaurant in north vancouver where the chicken massala and beef curry always taste superb and the nan bread is always soft inside with a crispy cover.
Excellent as always. Great food and great service.
A really special place for Indian food.
Excellent food and make sure to try the cocktails too! Could have eaten everything on the menu!
Love the food, it’s so different than any indian we’ve had!! Great service! A bit pricey (especially for the lambcycles).
Vij’s knocks it out if there park everytime !!
I had an incredible meal at Vij's and highly recommend this place. I booked a table for one for 6 pm and had no problem getting a reservation. The wait staff were exceptional - recommending the best dishes and offering to provide half-size portions so I could try different things without getting too full. It's not cheap, and the ambience is comfortable, not exceptional, but I am still thinking about the beautiful flavours and lovely experience I had eating here!
Chicken w paneer okay but average. Not up to the expected excellence normal at Vij’s. Pork (!) and BC veg starters outstanding. New location seems louder than Granville site. Some acoustic absorption material might help.
Food was delicious but we would have liked a little more flavour in one of our dishes. The service was truly exceptional. All the steps right from bringing the water till the final bill was streamlined and executed to perfection. One of the best service I have ever seen.
We wanted to do Vij’s because it’s a Vancouver staple and still hadn’t been even though we moved here a few years ago already. Compared to other Indian restaurants we have experienced in Vancouver so far, we were disappointed. Our expectations were pretty high because of how famous it is, and the food was good just nothing we would talk about after or want to go back for. The server’s were friendly but our table was forgotten somehow and it took a long time to get our appetizer, after that the server made sure we were well cared for so it made up for it. We liked how it looked like original decor giving it a nostalgic feel, but I don’t think we will go back. It wasn’t a good enough of an experience to repeat. If you are from out of town and want Indian food I would recommend others over it for sure.
Service was great and attentive. However everything came out so fast, it felt pretty rushed.
Was quite noisy - great setting and kind of fun, but should invest in noise absorption.
Food was delicious - creative, great flavours. However, quite salty, could tone that down a bit!
Over all a very good experience, but a few areas for improvement.
The meal was good, great service from Liz, and then, after we'd paid the bill a manager came running up, agitated and a bit angry, and told us we had to vacate the table, as we'd "been there almost 3 hours". Considering the bill was over $400 and we were reconnecting with old friends it was a bad ending to the night.
Wonderful food, very professional servers, and lovely restaurant. I highly recommend it!
We had a group of six arrive just as they opened. We were seated immediately and offered tea and a couple of appetizers (both very tasty). We then received good input from the waitress and made our choices. The only thing missing was two of our members desired Diet Coke and they did not have it. The staff worked well as a team. Our food arrived in a timely manner and all were extremely flavorful.
We had a great meal, food was excellent and service was exceptional. Our server recommended dishes as this was our first visit. Highly recommend.
One of our favourite restaurants in the city! Food and service are always on point!
We had a fine meal of unfamiliar food served by a team, rather than a traditional server position.
Loved the little appetizers and chai tea to start. Could not be more pleased with the service and servers. They were professional, extremely helpful with suggestions and available when necessary. Appreciated the tables wiped intermittently. First class friendly service. Enjoyed sharing the dishes amongst ourselves. Portions are good. Dishes flavourful and varied. Noise level was just enough to enjoy conversations but not too quiet. Did not feel rushed. A very enjoyable evening had by all. Thank you.
This restaurant was on every foodie list I read for the Vancouver area and it did not disappoint. We love Indian food and were prepared for a heavenly feast . We arrived a bit early for our reservation and found a seat at the bar. The restaurant has a modern but comfortable atmosphere and great vibe. Our server was amazing, gave us a perfect tour of the menu and offered suggestions based on or choices and tastes. I have to say the best quote from her was "I'm going to stop you there...you can always order more food". LOL...it was perfect...and she was RIGHT. Our meal was divine, and honestly we would go back to Vancouver JUST to eat again an VIJ's! It was THAT good.
Interesting and delicious. An unusual take on Indian food.
Refused our Open Table certificate because it was 6 months old. No mention on Open Table about an expiry and seemed to make it up on the spot.
Added that we would be using the certs on the reservation.
Amazing food, great service and altogether a fantastic night. I’m so glad that Vij’s take reservations now. We will certainly come again.
The food and service was very good a bit noisy and dark
Wonderful food and wait staff. My only criticism is the lighting. Too dim. We had to use our cell phones to see the menu.
Wonderful! I had a friend visiting Vancouver for the first time, so I brought him to Vij's to show off the best of the city's cuisine. Our experience exceeded my expectations! We had delicious food and drinks, especially the pork belly spoon and Dark Army No. 3. The staff was very friendly and helpful in getting us a cab, and the atmosphere was beautiful.
Would be nice to have fresh tandoori roti & nans as that is a major & important part of Indian food.
Always great food!!
Super service- they bring out a few awesome mini-bites and really great Indian tea. Mains are great for sharing.
Excellent Indian cuisine. Best of the best in Canada !
some of the best indian food i have had! the free chai (with free refills) is amazing and the staff was so kind! i want to go back and order more things on the menu i didn't get to try when i went :)
Dinner was very nice as well as cocktails-wine was excellent. Eggplant with tomatoes starter was suggested by the server was deluxe! Can’t go wrong with flavour Spot on. Very enjoyable overall.
Wonderful experience! We went for the tasting menu which was delicious. Only criticism is that at one point, during our meal, they turned up the air conditioning and our whole table felt uncomfortably cold.
The food was amazing! As we were not locals this was quite a treat. Everything we sampled and ordered was spectacular - pork tenderloin appetizer was a favourite at our table. I thoroughly enjoyed the Rainbow trout as my main. The only regret was not having left enough room for dessert.
Service was impeccable, staff were very attentive and anticipated the needs of our table seamlessly.
