Terrific Halibut 'special', but when you're lunching with a friend you haven't seen in 4 years you forget little things like asking the waiter what the 'special' halibut cost--$38 !..or interrogate him after he asks you 'and for your salad we have....etc etc" and you assume during conversation and a beautiful sunny day by the ocean that the salad must surely come with it..nope $10.50 more....so for food quality-great; for charging $5 for 'valet' parking when the farthest car is going to be 15 yards from where you're standing? huh? and for never throwing a price out there on dinner priced luncheon food---I'd keep my eyes and ears open if I were you.
The lamb chops with garlic mashed potatoes were excellent.
Restaurant week brought us here - great value & will definitely come back!!
The hostess was borderline rude. Took awhile to even acknowledge that we were standing right there in front of her. Requested a view with my reservation weeks before we arrived. She gave us probably the worst view in the restaurant until I requested another table. Our waiter was awesome as was the food he recommended. Overall, great evening except for the interaction with the hostess.
It is a very cozy restaurant, the food quality was very good with sizable portions. Very friendly wait staff. Nice Patio Seating. A little noisy on the weekend for lunch due to lots of noisy motorcycles on their coastal weekend drive.
This is one of our favorite places! Great food, service and view! Always a special experience!
Food was delicious! We came here for restaurant week and it was definitely worth it. Three course meal for $40. Can’t get any better than that.
We had a very nice dinner and he service was great. Food was delicious as usual. This was our first time going during restaurant week and I was really impressed with the choices on the menu.
We had a good time everything was fine when we was leaving the waiter was upset about his tip
Great place! Beautiful view, excellent staff, food was outstanding.
Always a pleasure, great dishes !, salmon is superb !
Excellent menu choices, food preparation, and presentation. The restaurant was a bit loud but then it was Restaurant Week and quite crowded. Our group of six all greatly enjoyed their meals and the fun atmosphere.
It was quite expensive for what we ate: 4 people, 4 salads, a bottle of Pelligrino and coffee came to a little over $100 after tip + $5 for valet parking. The salads were mediocre. The pear and raspberry salad had 4 very thin small slices of pear and 2 raspberries. The Caesar was not cut, with 5 croutons and a healthy amount of warm calamari (delicious). A pet peeve of mine is when the restaurant staff clears the table when some have finished and some are still eating. 3 in our party of 4 we're finished and the guy clearing the table took everything off, including the bread basket, except for my plate and silverware, since I was still eating. I felt rushed. The restaurant is right on Carlsbad Blvd, and the traffic was very loud. We sat outside. Our friends from Ohio loved the view, but we, as locals, who have enjoyed restaurants such as Jakes in Del Mar, were disturbed by the loud motorcycles and roaring engines of cars and trucks.
We plan to visit again since we got together for lunch during restaurant week on a beautiful sunny day but hab mixed reviews. We sat at a quiet table in a corner inside with views of the ocean. Service was professional. The restaurant was only half full so conversation was easy and enjoyable. We all ordered caesar’s salad since the baked potato soup with cheddar and bacon sounded very heavy. Salad was very good. The entrees varied. The chicken Marsala as well as prime rib sandwich were well prepared. The pasta was quite ordinary. We ordered dessert as well as espresso and cappuccino. The tiramisu was excellent and the coffees well made. We’ll come back and order different entrees. They have a good selection of Italian wines. Not sure if they would be a good value if it were not restaurant week.
This is my favorite restaurant ❣️ The food is incredible. Had the macadamia crusted salmon which was perfect. My friend and I especially LOVE Daniel to serve us. Although we found out he mostly works evenings now and we always go at lunchtime. However all their servers are superb. Very notable selection of fine wine 🍷. I appreciate they will bring you a couple samples instead of ordering something you may not like. The ocean view is beautiful. Will definitely be back again soon.
We dined here to celebrate my dad's birthday. The ambiance is always spectacular here, which is why I always enjoy dining at this VG spot. I ordered the crab cake appetizer, Cioppino for my entree, and apple tart dessert. The Cioppino was EXCELLENT. The portion size was so grand, that I was able to enjoy my dinner for round 2 the next day. The waiter was attentive without being too disruptive during our meal. A few staff members acknowledged that it was my dad's birthday, and even went so far as to give him a birthday card and creme brulee dessert on the house. I look forward to enjoying more meals at Vigilucci's Seafood & Steakhouse in Carlsbad.
We four ladies enjoyed a wonderful SDRW dinner. We brought our own wine along with a bottle for the kitchen staff. Their menu along with our wines were a wonderful match.
Two had the filet and two had the short rib. They were very tasty...cooked to perfection...were plated beautifully and pared well with our wines. Vigilucci's Seafood and Steak consistently provides great food and sunset is superb!
The atmosphere was great because it’s right next to the beach. We sat outside so we were able to watch the sunset. The food was ok at best. I didn’t really care for the food. The service was great. I don’t think I would come back for the food.
A little crowded on a Saturday night but the service, the food and drinks were outstanding.
We were very pleasantly surprised at what we found on our first trip to this restaurant. ALL seats have a beautiful view of the ocean. The food was impeccable. The wait staff was fabulous. I cannot say enough. If we lived close, we would be eating there all the time!
Never fails!! A must stop!!
We enjoyed our meal. It was delicious, well-prepared, and served hot!! The inside dining room is a bit noisy. Next time we will eat outside if possible.
first time at this restaurant good vibes and was impressed with service a lot of help food was above norm and everybody in my group was happy with the choice will try again for sure prices were on high side but was worth the fine execution
Love this place. We'd eat here more often but it's just a little too pricey for everyday dining. It was my husband and myself and we had a $100 gift card and brought in our own wine. We still paid over $100 for dinner (including tip). But we had fabulous service, a fabulous table and a fabulous meal! We'll save up and go back soon!!!
Once again we had an excellent overall dining experience. We had a couple drinks at happy hour at the bar and were served tasty complimentary bruschetta , olives and cheese to prepare for our Italian feast.
I took my girlfriend on a Friday night date because I wanted to have a nice evening out. I called ahead to request a pairing of the meal I knew I would be getting and was recommended a Chiati wine. There were numerous bottles, thus the suggestion wasn't helpful to one who isn't a sommelier. My meal was served on a warm plate, hot baked-potato, and quasi-warm prime rib (I assume it was the first piece finished that is why it was warm). If the occasion had been during the date time there is a view of the ocean across the street. She said her meal was fine.
We went for my mom's birthday. The food was excellent. I had the osso buco, my wife had the cioppino, my mom had a scallop pasta, and my dad had the fish special (sea bass over pesto mashed potatoes). All were delicious! The service was great too! We will definitely go back.
6 pm on Christmas eve there were five in pur family thinking about a good Italian local dinner. my daughter lives in this area and suggested this restaurant. service was good and seating ok but the menu was stripped down to a very few choices; I guess they figured they could get 5 seatings in. they did not have some of normal dinneres you find in an Italian restaurant like veal pacatta, capelinni, spaghetti and meatballs etc
We have been to this restaurant numerous times. This time we were very disappointed the food was not up to standards. We had a wedge salad which was $17.50 and it was so small and the dressing was watered down. I ordered a pasta dish with one scallop, muscles, and some shrimp the sauce was just terrible. I mentioned it to the waiter and his attitude was it’s just too bad. For the price for this dinner would’ve been just great if the food had been like it usually is. When we pulled up for valet parking when I got out of the car the valet yelled at a friend of his which scared me to death it was very rude of him. This is our worst experience we’ve had at this restaurant because we come there for New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, and our anniversary. We will think twice about coming back was very disappointed.
Our anniversary dinner did not disappoint! Great dinner!
vigilucci’s is a regular spot for our family—always outstanding!
We have been coming to Vigilucci's for a long time. It has been a few years since visiting. The service was outstanding. The food we ordered was very good. But the wine and food are overpriced. It used to be much more affordable. And the pasta dish that I ordered and is one of my favorites, used to come with four scallops, now more expensive and only two scallops. An $11 bottle of wine at the store is around $40. If you want a bottle wine that would normally be around $30 in the store, it is $150 or more. The food is good but overpriced. It is always busy though, so most are willing to pay the exorbitant prices.
Very disappointed. I went there for lunch and for some reason I was in the mood for a burger. Asked the waiter if they cooked a good burger and he replied in a very positive fashion. I ordered my burger "rare not raw". The burger came out dark brown well done. Without even tasting it I asked the waiter what he thought and he immediately took it back. Of course the next one he brought me was raw. I ate half of it anyway because my date was almost done with her meal and I took the other half home to actually cook it.
They have an extensive menu of wonderful things, but the burger ($17) is on the lunch menu, either cook it correctly or don't offer it especially at $17, $20 with the truffle fries.
My date had the grilled seafood entree that I suggested and it looked wonderful and she said it was. The bread was great, once we finally got some. The wine was good as was the service. The prices seem to continue to go up with almost every appetizer at $20. We had the Caprese salad which was very good, though not sure it was $20 good.
If it was just my meal it would have gotten 1 star, but because the seafood was excellent and the service was good it got 3 stars.
Sitting across from the beach during the last week in Dec was great, but if you can't cook a simple burger it just destroys the entire meal. Good thing we had a whole bottle of wine.
I think Vigilucci's Seafood & Steakhouse has been taken off my list of places to go, might stick with Vigilucci's Cucina Italiana downtown instead.
We went to brunch and had a wonderful meal. The view from our table on the patio was stunning. All of our meals were great. I had the Filet on Polenta, my wife and my mom ordered the filet tips omelette with Bellinis.
This was a very busy evening for Vigilucci’s restaurant. Every available seat was occupied. Our server was extremely busy and he managed to inquire about our satisfaction with our meal when we were almost half way through it. Although our meal was delicious and well presented, the noise level was extremely loud and that distracted us from fully enjoying this restaurant experience.
I consider this restaurant a regular for friends, family and business associates. It's pricey, but the setting and the food are worth it. It's a shame what one waiter can do to that experience. Very slow from the start. The couple next to us sat, ordered, ate and paid before we had our meal. We were planning a holiday desert, but it took our waiter so long to visit our table. When asked why we were ignored, he laughed and said they were very busy. I'd rather do McDonald's than spend over $150 per head to sit and wait.
This is always my first choice for dining. The service is superior and the food is superb. I enjoy the view and ambiance. Dining on the patio is delightful on most of our sunny days. When my sister visits from the east the first place she wants to go is Vigiluccis for zupetta.
Each Vigilucci restaurant is unique and all are wonderful! I have recommended Vigilucci’s many times and will continue to do so. They have remained at the top of my list of favorite restaurants for over seven years!
View of the ocean from every table! Nice all-around experience: Creative and tasty menu, Fantastic service, good selection of wine; all at a reasonable price given the ambiance.
