Vigilucci's Seafood & Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Love this place. We'd eat here more often but it's just a little too pricey for everyday dining. It was my husband and myself and we had a $100 gift card and brought in our own wine. We still paid over $100 for dinner (including tip). But we had fabulous service, a fabulous table and a fabulous meal! We'll save up and go back soon!!!
I took my girlfriend on a Friday night date because I wanted to have a nice evening out. I called ahead to request a pairing of the meal I knew I would be getting and was recommended a Chiati wine. There were numerous bottles, thus the suggestion wasn't helpful to one who isn't a sommelier. My meal was served on a warm plate, hot baked-potato, and quasi-warm prime rib (I assume it was the first piece finished that is why it was warm). If the occasion had been during the date time there is a view of the ocean across the street. She said her meal was fine.
We went for my mom's birthday. The food was excellent. I had the osso buco, my wife had the cioppino, my mom had a scallop pasta, and my dad had the fish special (sea bass over pesto mashed potatoes). All were delicious! The service was great too! We will definitely go back.
6 pm on Christmas eve there were five in pur family thinking about a good Italian local dinner. my daughter lives in this area and suggested this restaurant. service was good and seating ok but the menu was stripped down to a very few choices; I guess they figured they could get 5 seatings in. they did not have some of normal dinneres you find in an Italian restaurant like veal pacatta, capelinni, spaghetti and meatballs etc
We have been to this restaurant numerous times. This time we were very disappointed the food was not up to standards. We had a wedge salad which was $17.50 and it was so small and the dressing was watered down. I ordered a pasta dish with one scallop, muscles, and some shrimp the sauce was just terrible. I mentioned it to the waiter and his attitude was it’s just too bad. For the price for this dinner would’ve been just great if the food had been like it usually is. When we pulled up for valet parking when I got out of the car the valet yelled at a friend of his which scared me to death it was very rude of him. This is our worst experience we’ve had at this restaurant because we come there for New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, and our anniversary. We will think twice about coming back was very disappointed.
We have been coming to Vigilucci's for a long time. It has been a few years since visiting. The service was outstanding. The food we ordered was very good. But the wine and food are overpriced. It used to be much more affordable. And the pasta dish that I ordered and is one of my favorites, used to come with four scallops, now more expensive and only two scallops. An $11 bottle of wine at the store is around $40. If you want a bottle wine that would normally be around $30 in the store, it is $150 or more. The food is good but overpriced. It is always busy though, so most are willing to pay the exorbitant prices.
Very disappointed. I went there for lunch and for some reason I was in the mood for a burger. Asked the waiter if they cooked a good burger and he replied in a very positive fashion. I ordered my burger "rare not raw". The burger came out dark brown well done. Without even tasting it I asked the waiter what he thought and he immediately took it back. Of course the next one he brought me was raw. I ate half of it anyway because my date was almost done with her meal and I took the other half home to actually cook it.
They have an extensive menu of wonderful things, but the burger ($17) is on the lunch menu, either cook it correctly or don't offer it especially at $17, $20 with the truffle fries.
My date had the grilled seafood entree that I suggested and it looked wonderful and she said it was. The bread was great, once we finally got some. The wine was good as was the service. The prices seem to continue to go up with almost every appetizer at $20. We had the Caprese salad which was very good, though not sure it was $20 good.
If it was just my meal it would have gotten 1 star, but because the seafood was excellent and the service was good it got 3 stars.
Sitting across from the beach during the last week in Dec was great, but if you can't cook a simple burger it just destroys the entire meal. Good thing we had a whole bottle of wine.
I think Vigilucci's Seafood & Steakhouse has been taken off my list of places to go, might stick with Vigilucci's Cucina Italiana downtown instead.
This was a very busy evening for Vigilucci’s restaurant. Every available seat was occupied. Our server was extremely busy and he managed to inquire about our satisfaction with our meal when we were almost half way through it. Although our meal was delicious and well presented, the noise level was extremely loud and that distracted us from fully enjoying this restaurant experience.
I consider this restaurant a regular for friends, family and business associates. It's pricey, but the setting and the food are worth it. It's a shame what one waiter can do to that experience. Very slow from the start. The couple next to us sat, ordered, ate and paid before we had our meal. We were planning a holiday desert, but it took our waiter so long to visit our table. When asked why we were ignored, he laughed and said they were very busy. I'd rather do McDonald's than spend over $150 per head to sit and wait.
This is always my first choice for dining. The service is superior and the food is superb. I enjoy the view and ambiance. Dining on the patio is delightful on most of our sunny days. When my sister visits from the east the first place she wants to go is Vigiluccis for zupetta.
“Upscale dining” for locals. Dined in for my birthday with my husband...expecting a semi-romantic dinner considering it was a small restaurant, elegantly decorated with ambience lighting, but quickly realized that conversation carried very well and everyone talked over other tables in order to hear their own conversations; very noisy but no one appeared to care. Beautiful restaurant with well sized portions and strong drinks. Attentive service with excellent food. Only offers valet parking on site.
This is our second time to this restaurant as we were again in the area. Based on our first visit we brought good friends back to the restaurant and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food, wine and service. Our first visit was in the summertime during the busy season. It was very crowded but we had a wonderful ocean view and we still were greeted with great service. This time we went in late November, after sunset, mid-week and it was very quiet. The food, especially the seafood, was excellent. TIP: The Cioppino was very generous and could be shared. And the service was superb.
Disappointing Thanksgiving Dinner here with my family of 5. This is actually the second year in a row we have gone to Vigilucci's for Thanksgiving. 2016 was a 4-5 star meal, with everything done well. This year (2017) was not nearly as good an experience. Three (3) of the five dinners (Turkey) were served cold. The other two (2) meals, were ok. They did take the three dinners back to the kitchen and were re-done, but by the time the meals arrived, the other two were almost done, not good! The issue that was really bad, was for something that would prevent me from recommending this place in the future. My daughter has ordered a diet-coke which was fine. The waitress asked if she would like a refill, and she said yes. Pretty common occurrence in any restaurant. When I looked at the bill, the restaurant actually charged me $1.00 for the refill! You even get free refills at Denny's!! When someone is paying $300 for their dinner (s), the extra charge of $1.00 for a diet-coke refill is insulting and petty of the establishment. Poor policy!!
Our seating time was past the sunset so our waterfront view was the moon on the water which was lovely, but not the ocean. Our table was just inside the door to the patio and I so wished we had been seated outside. Personally, I found the noise level inside the dining area to be disturbing, but I realize that tables were probably added to increase the seating for the Thanksgiving holiday. While the food was exceptional, the price was higher than expected; it was only the noise level that decreased the value. Our server - Chris M - was EXCEPTIONAL and was the best part of our evening - kind, generous, helpful but not pushy, and very professional. Definitely a positive recommendation.
We came here for our annual tradition of eating Thanksgiving lunch at a restaurant and were so glad we picked Vigilucci's! Along with a great prix fixe menu there were many equally tempting a la carte choices for those who couldn't make up their minds. Our table request was accommodated (though there are no bad choices) and it was a delight to sit by the large open doors onto the patio and watch the ocean as we dined. My husband chose the traditional turkey and said it was superb, succulent and delicious; very hard to achieve with so many diners. We all enjoyed every course; the food was perfectly cooked and arrived at the table beautifully plated and at just the right temperature whether a salad or a hot entree. I have to give a big shout-out to our wonderful waiter, Andrea. He combined the perfect balance of professional, friendly and attentive care. He truly made us feel like valued and welcome guests to the restaurant and made a lovely experience just perfect!
My wife and I wanted to go to a top notch seafood and steak place while visiting Carlsbad for our anniversary for the weekend. We had already picked a place out before we got there and then took and a drive nearest to the ocean from where we were staying and saw vigaluccis restaurant and decided we would rather go there after seeing the menu on-line. We had a great meal accompanied by great service with a waiter who was sooo good and attentive that I gave out my first %25 tip at a restaurant ever In my life! We will Definitely be going back to vigaluccis whenever we are in the area and will recommend it to everyone we know to go to for the best quality of food and service in The Italian Restaurant Industry!! My wife has already posted pictures of your food and great reviews on Facebook and to family members! THANKYOU for the great dining experience!!!
Great meal with even better service by the entire staff...especially our waiter, Andrea! Food, wine, and martini’s were all delicious. Unfortunately, I disappointed with my prime rib as it was tough and undercooked. Sorry chef...it sucked! Only other complaint I had was with the tool we had seated next to us who picked a fight with his wife for most of our meal. Overall, the experience was a nice evening out with my bride!
Wanted a nice meal with a sunset view. This was a perfect fit. The restaurant is across the street from the beach and has unobstructed views of the sunset from the patio seats. We ordered the risotto special with scallops and the salmon. The scallops were perfectly cooked, not too rare or too done. The risotto was delicious. The salmon was also very good. I would definitely come back.
If Excellent wine choices by the glass. Martini perfect. Caesar salad on endive and not cut pieces and dressed...no anchovies...disappointment. Spaghetti portofino and griliata Pesci absolutely wonderful. Shrimp, clams, calamari in a tasty sauce and generous portions. Bread with perfect crust to get all the sauce. Marcello added to the enjoyment of our dining with his delightful humor and top notch service. Tiramisu, nice way to end the evening.
