Vigilucci's Cucina Italiana Ratings and Reviews
I went out with a friend and enjoyed a great evening there. Our waiter was amazing. We sat outside and even saw several friends walk by and say hi! We ordered salmon and sea bass....they were delish as well as the wine. Even if it’s cold outside they have outdoor heaters to keep you cozy!
This was a first visit, with family from around the country, and we were looking forward to a special meal together and we were wowed by the atmosphere, the location, the food, and the service. It was just right, and I'd recommend it highly to anyone looking for a comfortable dining experience with no surprises.
We have enjoyed dining at Vigilucci's many times, however this last visit was a little disappointing. While the flavors of our dishes were very good, the food was not hot, veal was not very tender, asparagus was too tough to cut with fork or knife, amount of mashed sweet potato overwhelmed fish. Not able to enjoy a romantic anniversary dinner with my husband for all the noise (seated near the bar).
Romantic table on the sidewalk at night felt like Italy, and our gracious and attentive server Viviana sounded authentic, too! Their lasagna is indeed exceptional and a sea bass special was also excellent. With a delicious Rosso di Montalcino, we were in restaurant heaven.
The food was pretty good but the service was careless. Waiter spilled the wine on the tablecloth and he didn’t even apologize.
We started our dinner with a stained tablecloth. It was my husband’s birthday and he didn’t even get a happy birthday from anyone even though I put it in the notes when I reserved the table.
We were not well looked after and when you pay $30 a dish you have a different expectation than your regular joint.
Will not return.
There were 8 of us; overall we were happy with our meals. The servers were excellent, split the bill four ways, helpful with gluten-free suggestions and all the other special requests. The veal limone sauce and sides were excellent, but the veal was dry and chewy. Pasta dishes were also excellent. Compared to Cicciotti's, down the street, our meal didn't compare and was more expensive.
We went here for my Birthday celebration, we lusted in Open Table that it was my Birthday and my husband told both the hostess & waiter it was my Birthday, but no one acknowledged it. So at the end of dinner I said I really enjoyed my food for my Birthday celebration and still no acknowledment. Then I said oh do you have Cannoli, that is a good birthday dessert and still nothing. How rude, not even a Happy Birthday from the staff! The hostess never smiled either...hmm.
Awesome dinner! Could not have had more perfectly cooked food. From the soup appetizer to my own homemade ravioli stuffed with ricotta, pine nuts and seasonal vegetables to my husband’s incredible seafood grigliata, absolutely everything was perfectly cooked, nicely served and was just an amazing dinner. Absolutely nothing to improve! I would highly recommend this wonderful, family owned restaurant.
We ate at a table outside which is near a busy street. Despite the potential for noise and a sense of too much going on, we were not disturbed at all. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Prices were a bit high but we were prepared for that. Street parking on a Saturday night was hard to find but I think there are some pay lots close by. Perhaps they could include parking information on their website.
We were visiting the area and asked a local for a recommendation since there are so many good places to choose from. Wow! Food and service were great. A little mix up with the reservation (our fault since we did not realize there were 2 locations) but they made it all work. I am looking forward to going again.
The server was very nice and did her best to accommodate us. She had a tough job, however, because the food came to the table cold, it was not well seasoned, the platters they use for the entrees (they should use regular dinner plates a cut the obscene portion size of their mediocre food) did not fit on the table for 4, which was crammed in with too many other tables for the space. It was loud, and VERY expensive. I don't mind paying for well prepared food but this was NOT that. When you pay $44.00 for an entree, you should not be thinking you wish you had some salt or a napkin to absorb some of the olive oil off the cold eggplant.
They did comp us dessert since we had not had a good experience. Nice try, but the server did so without asking if we would like that or what we might like. I don't eat dessert, and we had a diabetic at the table...
I came home and made a snack for myself. No going back!
